SeverusSnape:They are telling us the truth, there was a time in this country when papers were covered and figures inflated to give a good impression of the government in power, but for the economists we knew what they were doing, giving false GDP growth rate without commensurate provision of goods and services, suddenly the economy entered into recession, evidence of false figures 5 Likes |

Everything in this country is done for the sake of political appeasement. That's why there's an airport in Katsina. Build decent roads and a comprehensive rail network and you won't need airports every 100 km. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Nigeria's problem can only be tackled ideologically. The power of a liberal society with a free market cannot be over estimated in Nigeria's struggle for a strong and fair economy. No one economist can categorically state whether Nigeria is a capitalist society or a socialist nation. Nigeria's welfarism claims are not without major flaws as the basics of electricity and free quality education are lacking. No government should fund an airport in the 21st century. Investors should control and operate airports while the Federal Government ,whose power to control aviation which is expressly stated in the exclusive list of the grund norm of this nation, tax and regulate the airport owners. I have read Nigerians who are shareholders in airports at the United Kingdom. 3 Likes |

There's gross misconduct and mismanagement of unrecorded funds generated by the airports by it's top management. |

The cost of flying to Ilorin on return ticket is approximately 100k. How many people can afford that? Go to Royal Riders transport company and see how many people travel by road to Ilorin on a daily basis. You'll see that it is not for lack of passengers that the airport is not raking revenue but for affordability. Bring down the cost of the air fares and you'll get a lot of traffic. 6 Likes 1 Share |

All this is due to the massive corruption in FAAN and the fact that FAAN employ too many staffs doing nothing, FG should privatize FAAN, only Aviation security and fire should be under FG. Aviation security staff should be reduced too many people doing nothing 2 Likes 1 Share |

3 major international airport isn't enough besides I personally recognise only 2 (Abuja and Lagos, PH is a last resort for any traveller and most routes are missing or still link up with Lagos or abuja for final departures). Besides how did the guardian get these figures. Is EDo airport a federal property? Didn't know that. |

If not for politics, what is needed in a lot of these areas is just airfield. This will take care of small aircrafts that will be economically viable. Don't know why an airport is needed in places where atimes no flight comes in a day. 6 Likes |

Hoephase:impossible did you not read in the report where it says in quote: The airport in the south that has become the ghost of its old self is that in Calabar. It records only one flight a day since Donald Duke left as governor of Cross River State. The Uyo Airport has taken over. Owerri is bubbling. Enugu will pick up because, at a time, it was behind Lagos and Abuja, even ahead of Port Harcourt International Airport. From the quote above and @bolded, it can be easily deduced that after lagos and abuja, enugu comes third or fourth on the worst case scenario. Then owerri too was quoted to be bubbling. SE fared well in my opinion, infact it came second after the SW lagos airport if you put together the output effect of Owerri and Enugu combined. 4 Likes |

Romanoff:I wouldn't blame them because this isn't a busy route. I once flew from abuja to Benin with only about 6 passengers on board. I was scared sheet, it was so unlike Benin trips. Imagine if 6 passengers per flight was the average carriage to Ilorin from popular destinations. That's a total loss to any company, hence the reason for the cost. A Benin -abuja, or Lagos - Benin trip costs 19K or less depends on timing. 2 Likes |

The Kastina Airport managed to make a total of N250.8 million in generated revenue in three years, out of which only N42.1 million was collected. Its cost of operations was put at N1.58 billion, leaving a deficit balance of N1.54 billion. In the South, Ibadan airport in three years made a total of N349.2 million in generated revenue and collected N244.9 million. Can you see it, can you see it? Even for revenue collection, Zoohari is soooo tribalistic. Katsina made 250.8m, Zoohari collected 42.1m, but when Ibadan made 349.2m, Zoohari collected 244.9m.... Tuehhh!!! 1 Like 1 Share |

That's because you used the policies and media to demarket other states how can you market only Lagos and Abuja as commercial and secure states when in reality you can be safer in benue state than Lagos ? Off course embassies won't open offices in the same Calabar that you use your ethnic media to market as full of savages and poor people or would Russia open an embassy in Taraba when you market there as a haven for Fulani terrorists ? You use tribalism and biases to kill states and make them unfavorable to foreigners hence their airports and sea ports die I laugh when I hear some colleagues beat their chest saying everyone wants to come to Lagos and end with eko Oni babe In my mind I think , give an idoma man or tiv man or ishan man the same opportunities you monopolize in Lagos and see if the population in Lagos won't drop by over 60% How can you make it more expensive for me to clear goods in calabar port that is next door to me than for me to clear in Lagos ports ? Does that make sense anywhere in the world ? Let's stop this ethnical biases and watch all airports and seaports function well 7 Likes 4 Shares |

There is no middle class in Nigeria anymore. It's either you are rich or poor, and the rich are less than 1% of the population. So, what are we talking about? The poor want to fly too but cannot afford it. One of the solutions is to cut price to reflex the actual situation on ground. Then more people will be able to fly and more revenues will be generated. 1 Like |
