I am a victim of rape. I've been raped uncountable times by our maids and even my mom never believes me.
Why do we ignore male rape?
Why do we think the male victims enjoyed it yet we don't think same for female victims?
Why do we make mockery of male rape cases?
Why do we sweep male rape cases under the carpet?
Why Why Why?

I just spoke with a female friend about Jennifer's rape and she curses her rapists but when I told her I was also raped all she could do is laugh? I asked why she laughed she said it's funny.

Why is male rape funny?
Why do we not pay attention to male rape?

lalasticlala I want answers to these questions

Cases of male rape are usually swept under the carpet for the following reasons:

1. Men don't get pregnant unlike their female counterparts.

2. The opening in a woman's body makes her more vulnerable to STD's unlike their male counterparts.

3. Women are usually slut shame if they have multiple body counts, but males are hailed for doing the same.

4. Women are usually the victim in more than 90% of recorded cases of rape.

5. Men were created to be more physically stronger than women, so it is assumed that it is almost impossible to rape an adult male. The same cannot be said of women.

What I'm trying to say in a nut shell is, when there is a female rape, the physical and mental consequences are more devastating hence the need to feel empathic towards their plight. On the other hand, cases of male rape may occur and can only raise an eyebrow if the person involved is a kid. And since it does not happen frequently, no one pays attention when it does.

Although, I don't believe you were raped as a kid, but if really you were, then bear in mind that your mom refused to believe you not because you were a male, but because she was not responsible enough to pay attention like a parent should. Most female kids also experience situations like yours.

But I'm curious though, since your mom wouldn't listen, why didn't you confide in your dad, siblings, relatives, or anyone who was close to you?

I'm not insinuating anything, but I get curious when I see male children bringing down the roof top for being spanked by their maids, but will never speak up when molested. Could it be that they really enjoy the act, hence the silence?

Why will you believe when I'm not a female?

No, that's far from my reason. A male cousin was also molested, but in his case, he bragged about it. I said I didn't believe you because of the tone you used in your write up. You sounded more like you were trying to tell the story of others and not yours exactly.

I created the thread for two reasons.

1. to know why male victims get ignored.
2. some people on Jennifer's thread told me to.
I appreciate ur own inputs but u are being bias here.
let me ask u, have u been raped before? if no, what makes u think men don't have mental consequences?

imagine I called a friend this morning telling her about Jennifer's being raped and she started cursing the rapists but the moment I told her I'm a victim of rape all she could do is laugh.

GreatResearcher1:
freeze01 and co why are you guys dodging this thread?

First, I never even saw this thread or knew of its existence till you mentioned and redirected me to it. Secondly, I am very much aware especially of the circumstances the op tried to share, that young boys are victims especially in their homes while growing up when they are exposed to criminal, unprincipled older females who abuse them. A lot of men in our society were exposed to sex in this ungodly manner at very tender ages and they continued in that vein till date. No child, male or female should ever be violated in such a manner.

Female children however, have it worse especially when they are brutally raped, sometimes injured, killed or left pregnant and then they face the wrath/stigma of unwanted pregnancy, rejection by families, abandonment, truncated education and so on. How many male children despite their abuse face these consequences?

Like I said, the advocacy for the female sex has come a very long way yet you still have some that claim that the victim enjoyed it or invited it by her appearance so stop screaming hypocrisy, the job is yet to be done. If you are so passionate about this subject, you need to change your mindset and understand that it is not automatic or a day's job. Make your research and get serious, it is not by trolling me or other nairalanders here or trying to trivialize the experience of the young girl on the original thread that led to this discussion. Dimming one's light will not make yours shine brighter; putting one down will not lift you higher either.

The thing about male rape is that there's usually little evidence. But that doesn't make it right.

I think you should come out and get justice for yourself. Find those maifs and aunties and drag them on social media. Or take it to court. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Also seek a psychologist. You need it

This thread is newly opened. I was talking about quoting me on an old thread. You're a wounded, damaged man. You really need help.

It is typically ignored because it is hard to imagine a male being a victim and vulnerable in such a situation

Also many of the victim's, particularly when the rapist is another male, do not step forward.

Were you slapped, punched and bruised? Were you severely injured or deformed in the process. For a man if he doesn't want there is nothing anyone can do about it. But for women whether they want or not the place is always passable.

Societal cultures, that is. Out in the West, it is less a thing of shame for the victims.

But in a country like Nigeria where the male is still assumed invulnerable, of course victims have a hard time accepting, let alone admitting to the opposite
