Pretty stable. But I'd recommend waiting for the next update that drops in like a week time that addresses the current bugs.

I'll just wait for stable release that's expected this May then. I've had enough of AOSP

well, technically he's right. Flagship is THE BEST from an OEM, the leading phone in terms of features and quality same way a literal flag ship is a side's main or most important ship in naval warfare.

When a new set of phones are released by the OEM with better specs, the new 'best one' becomes THE flagship, and the former is relegated to terms like 'last year flagship'.

There's technically only one flagship at any time, and although many people interchange 'flagship' with 'high-end' or premium', they don't mean the exact same thing.

I don't think Samsung follows this rule since they released the Note series. We both know they max out the top S series and Note series of every given year so you can't really say it's just 1 flagship device per year.

Other OEMs too have long abandoned the idea of a sole flagship per year.

Thanks a lot bro. People tend to misuse the word for any high-end device.

True, OEM marketers have been throwing up fancy words to push their sales thereby confusing consumers.

But let's not debate just for the sake of it. The word "flagship" is a naval/military word which implies the ship carrying the Commander in a naval fleet or group of ships flying his flag. This can also be used to correlate the meaning when used on a product or range of products.

With these few points of mine I hope I've been able to prove to you that a flagship is not necessarily a single item of a product released within a product's life cycle? grin

I don't know how I can explain to y'all that a company can have more than one flagship device at the same time. Quoting the literal meaning of flagship from the dictionary doesn't always apply to phones.

The S and note series have always been known as the flagship devices for Samsung. Can you tentatively say the s20 ultra is better than the s20,s20+ in all ways or that the mi 10 pro beats the mi 10 in all areas too? OEMs produce flagship devices tailored for different people.

'high-end' != 'flagship'

You are talking about high-end devices but it's okay though, we can agree to disagree. The subject isn't worth the argument.

That word high-end was created by OEM marketers with respect to market segmentation. The flagship itself is a high-end device.

Just like social stratification, device categories are mainly split into 3;
entry level ->mid range->high end etc Along the line subcategories were created within these 3 categories.

Don't let fancy marketing words throw you off.

it's not really something an OEM decides/abandons though. It's like saying parents have abandoned the idea of a sole 'first born'. Even if they are twins/triplets, one comes first.

Popular usage of the term has somewhat broadened to include just about any premium or high-end device, even if that's not what it really means.

lol. Your screenshot actually refers to just one ship. Read it properly.

There is ONE ship carrying the commander and his flag. Now the commander could be in charge of a fleet or a subdivision of a fleet. The subdivision isn't an alternate meaning of the flagship, but defines an alternate scope of the commander's authority.

Lemme rest sha, since people see every argument as bickering even if it's a way we learn.

Actually from what you have said, there is a lot of sense to it. Look at Xiaomi's offerings for the year, MI 10 and Mi 10 pro are not the same. One is obviously better than the other though both use "flagship processors" but everything isn't flagship in them, for one thing according to techtablets Mi 10 pro has a better screen, faster charging, better camera offerings and a few other features that distinguish it from the vanilla Mi 10. The first thing they share in common to support the flagship description according to madam Fibonacci is the processor, aside that we can't say Mi 10 is the flagship na?
Also consider that the same flagship processor is in K30pro but the K30pro doesn't have some features that the Mi 10 has which also lacks some features that the Mi 10 pro has. In essence, following the strict definition of flagship, the Xiaomi flagship is the Mi 10pro cos it has top of the line tech without any compromises, unlike the Mi 10 and the K30pro.
So I believe it all boils down to one question, what needs to exist for a phone or phones to be called flagship? If only one phone has it and others from the same OEM don't, that means only one phone is the flagship, not all of the phones launched by that OEM

OEM

Great way to put it bro. This was a discussion I had with several of my friends when the Pocophone F1 launched. After MKBHD's review, he said that it has a flagship processor, but it was a midrange device. Device with such designation were first made by OnePlus and they called them "Flagship Killers".

These days however, OEMs make slight variations to justify a $200 price hike from the vanilla models. Usually, a better camera system, a beefier battery, slightly larger and higher screen resolution, and maybe a few lifestyle features like a wood frame or ceramic.

Despite these changes been subtle sometimes, it doesn't make the vanilla device a better or "on par" with the flagship.

With the recent smartphone classes, GSMA...made the new categories below

when you say flagship processor, what do you have in mind?

'Processor in a flagship phone'?

Just like phone OEMs, makers of SoCs also have their 'best'. The SD 865 is currently the Snapdragon flagship processor. Its presence in a phone isn't what makes the phone flagship. It's more of that device's rank amongst other devices by the same OEM.

Yes, Mi 10 pro is currently Xiaomi's flagship. It has the highest overall quality/value in any Xiaomi phone.
