Who should we believe? It was just yesterday that NAFDAC DG, Prof. Adeyeye, said that there was no herbal mixture or organic cure to convid-19 presented to the Agency. She said all the tauted local mixtures for convid-19 were sensational talk. I believe someone is not saying the truth. We should ask Prof. Maurice Iwu if he had presented his herbal cure to the relevant agency for verification and testing.
There are guidelines for everything.

Yes there are guildlines for everything and the NAFDAC is the last stage the drug will pass through. It has to go through the ministry of science and technology for lab test. But he already written them about the cure and they have not called him yet. He can’t just go there without being invited no one will answer him.

They are intentionally ignoring him because they are waiting for vaccine that is not even ready yet. They can collect vaccine for trial purposes but not the Maurice Iwu herb. Nigerian government don’t care about its people all they care about is money.

He has never claimed a cure for HIV. The Nigerian that made claim on HIV cure was Dr Gabriel Abalaka.

Iwu made claim for Ebola Virus vaccine, the same vaccine he said his team leveraged to evolve the said COVID-19 cure.

Even the American drug for Covid-19, Remedesivir, was originally developed for Ebola Virus.

I think we should listen to Iwu.

well if he also made a claim for Ebola it means he seems to be in the habit of making claims for every new virus

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/01/nigerias-maurice-iwu-others-record-breakthrough-in-hivaids-treatment/

researchers who make breakthtroughs in medicine tend to spend years and decades researching one particular illness. E.g you have researchers whose entire careers is focused on HIV, e-coli, staph, herpes etc. It is this singular focus that tends to lead to breakthroughs. Iwu seems to be claiming cures for every new virus that surfaces every 2 years. Which tells me he does not focus on one and as such lacks the speciality to be an expert in that particular virus because he doesnt focus his attention on one particular bug...he seems to be a jack of all trades master of none despite being a professor of virology. I think the fact that none of his claims have come to pass or resulted in any medicine also suggests, his peers and industry agree that he is just a noise maker.

Just to set the record straight, his HIV research wasn't a cure for HIV, but for treatment of HIV related diarrhoea. And he was part of a research team. And yes, the botanical drug was approved by US FDA

The Madagascar herb is a well known malaria medicine and widely Used malaria therapy. It doesn't need animal testing in My opinion. What it needs is large scale human clinical trials as it's already being done by distributing it to other countries. Madagascar does not have enough cases to confirm it's efficacy

Definitely, nobody in Nigeria knows about the bold.

Likewise, Iwu and co did not claim that their drug is a vaccine but rather a "therapy" if i may borrow your word. Even one of those claimants ( I belief Orji or so, please correct me if am wrong) had even volunteered to test the drug on himself. Why not allow him? Why not allow them?

I belief it still boils down to $.

What Madagascar president did is a charade and mockery of medical science. It's not what any reasonable leader should be doing.

Only two persons have allegedly be cured and he's claiming it a cure. .

If your assertion is true, then the drug/therapy is efficacious if it can cure 2 patients.

lol. No responsible government will start giving that concoction to it's citizens to gulp down in an uncontrolled test or trial. The drugs were sent to Nigeria for trials...not as proven therapeutics.

You call that research? what kind of research bases it's findings on a test group of less than 200 patients? That is too small a sample size. Any idiot will know that. Especially with a disease that has a mortality rate of less than 2%. Meaning about 98% of the infected people are expected to fight it and self-resolve with little assistance of any drug.

Which means the efficacy of the drug was based on 2% of 198 patients in other words 4 patients.

From your logic, if the drug can cure 2% of the test case (which is very very good - it is better than nothing) and 98% do not need drug/vaccine to recover, then why are you waiting for salvation a la - bill gates vaccine?

The artemisia plant (the main constituent of the covid organics) is well known in the malaria research realm. And many companies already make drugs with the extracts. Many native people in Africa take the herbs in various forms against malaria and it's certified effective.

As for Iwu, he's already a member of the covid 19 task force in two states. He's also patented some plant extract herbal teas that have shown to inhibit SARS virus in the lab. He's collaborating with NAFDAC for clinical trials on covid but they haven't begun yet

That's not what he meant in any way. Clinical trials require thousands of human subjects to confirm efficacy and safety.

Besides a 2 percent cure is totally pathetic. Considering that without any treatment, majority of covid carriers recover anyway. Unless they administer the drugs to serious to critical cases only, then we can determine.

Thirdly, Bill gates is funding about 8 out of over 100 vaccine candidates. There's no assurance that any of them will make it to mainstream.

Considering that the disease has a survival rate of over 90 percent, one needs to test it on thousands of patients before we can determine efficacy.

The remdesivir drug was tested on over 2000 people in the USA before they realised that it dropped the death rate by 30 percent. And they still haven't claimed it's a cure.

As things are today, we shouldn't care where the cure or vaccine comes from. Abalaka, Iwu, Bill Gates, or Madagascar....who cares.

It's a known fact everywhere in the world that up to 98% is the survival rate. I didn't say it was the so called drug that cured 2%. I hope the drug works. But there is no single shred proof yet.

We are on the same page, if the drugs (Madagascar drug, IWU/Orji drug, remdesivir , HCQ + Zinc + Vitamin D + C) can reduce the mortality rate, that is great. That is what we want. If this is the case, then why the panic across the world?, If this is the case, then there is actually no need for the vaccine. Malaria (in Africa) and flu ( in the west) is even more deadlier than COVID-19. So why the fuss?

I'm surprised that as a scholar you'd be referencing such a controversial and well known conspiracy theory site. I know natural news right from the Ebola epidemic days where they helped spread falsehood and paranoia. They've been ostracised by ALL reputable scientific associations.

The American council on science and Health rated them as 'pure garbage' science news source.

1. Covid-19 is way more cantagious than flu or malaria.
2. If you are above 60 years of age. You chances of dying by covid infection is very very high. Same for people who have underlying conditions or whose immunity is compromised.

This means that the Life expectancy of the human race has effectively been cut to somewhere around 60 years.
