We4all:This is not a good reason to sweep male rape under the carpet; in fact, this isn't even why male rape isn't taken too seriously. This doesn't even make any sense. If a female rape victim was discovered to be infertile, will her rape be swept under the carpet? 2. The opening in a woman's body makes her more vulnerable to STD's unlike their male counterparts.Utter rubbish. This is the first time I am hearing such excuse as to why male rape is less grievous than female rape? Suppose a lady was immune to any STD, do you seriously think the rape of such lady will be swept under the carpet? 3. Women are usually slut shame if they have multiple body counts, but males are hailed for doing the same.I can't, for the life of me, see how this reasonably explains why male rape isn't taken too seriously. A woman who has been raped isn't even considered a slut, and no boy is hailed as a player/stud for being raped. What exactly is your point? 4. Women are usually the victim in more than 90% of recorded cases of rape. Please drop a statistic that confirms your percentage globally. I am happy you included "recorded cases." Less men report rape cases because of the way society views male rape victims. 5. Men were created to be more physically stronger than women, so it is assumed that it is almost impossible to rape an adult male. The same cannot be said of women.Male rape victims could be little helpless boys sexually preyed upon by aunties, uncles, parents, clergymen etc. Also, physically force is not the only method of rape; a lady could drug a man (remember Cardi B?) and take advantage of him. In some instances, multiple females could ambush a male and rape him. Even male homosexuals rape men. Your arguments so far have been irrational and disappointing. I am convinced you are being disingenuous. Your are probably a female or a weak stùpid male asslicker. What I'm trying to say in a nut shell is, when there is a female rape, the physical and mental consequences are more devastating hence the need to feel empathic towards their plight. On the other hand, cases of male rape may occur and can only raise an eyebrow if the person involved is a kid. And since it does not happen frequently, no one pays attention when it does.Rape is rape, male or female. Rape is rape, whether ot happens frequently or not. Who told you that rape is more devastating for females? Who told you that male rape rarely happens? Even if male rape rarely happens, is it enough reason not to take a single case of male rape seriously? Although, I don't believe you were raped as a kid,You might as well believe that all cases of male rape are fabrications. You SOUND like someone who has no sympathy or a shred of concern for male rape victims. Obviously, you think male rape isn't that serious, and you feel justified with half-baked rationalisations so far. I am sure if given the chance, you would proclaim that male rape is not a thing. but if really you were, then bear in mind that your mom refused to believe you not because you were a male, but because she was not responsible enough to pay attention like a parent should. Most female kids also experience situations like yours. You don't know his mother, neither do l, but it's highly unlikely that a parent would do nothing if his/her daughter accused a houseboy of sexually assaulting her. I could understand if the parent does nothing if the family pastor was accused since the brains of many are so subservient to their pastors and holy books. But I'm curious though, since your mom wouldn't listen, why didn't you confide in your dad, siblings, relatives, or anyone who was close to you?GreatResearcher1, a question for you. I'm not insinuating anything, but I get curious when I see male children bringing down the roof top for being spanked by their maids, but will never speak up when molested. Could it be that they really enjoy the act, hence the silence?I am not insinuating anything, but I got curious when females like Busola Dakolo open up years after their supposed incident. Could it be that they enjoyed the act? 4 Likes 2 Shares |

freeze001:Not all females get pregnant, and even those who didn't get pregnant (Busola Dakolo) do have their cases taken seriously. Are males not "brutally" raped? (I laugh at your use of "brutal." Is there "non-brutal" rape? is "non-brutal" rape less serious than brutal rape? Is brutal rape exclusive to a particular gender? ) Are male not injured as well? In cases where women are killed, can you say for sure that it had nothing to do with rituals and/or a mere serial killer's methodology? 4 Likes |

Keketu:Probably perform a very invasive rape examination. They might stick a few things inside your penis hole to collect evidence. You can then proceed to court |

Martinez39s:when it deals with rights feminists, manginas and white knights like sagemk will claim men and women are equal. But when it deals with survival from rape or turning the other chick when a lady hits them they will change their mouths to say men are stronger. Where do this people stand?? 4 Likes 2 Shares |

what defines rape is consent, period! Every other thing like beating, bruising is an additional crime on its own. When filing a case the perpetrator will be charged for rape and physical assault(two cases here). So physical assault must not be added to rape before it is rape... When females get raped but not injured or bruised do we disqualify it from being rape? Educate yourself on consent and statutory rape. 1 Like |

I remember in primary school I was like 11- 12 then, my best friend in class would usually wait after school for the bus and most times it would take a while. He stayed behind just another day waiting for the bus, he met some older girls that day in school (secondary school girls) he told me they were role playing and it ended up with them trying to convince him to be more in the "ACT" by actually doing "IT". He was same age with me so basically didn't know what was going on, they had practised MouthAction on him , they made him do the same to them, they had some penetrative sex too. When he told me it sounded funny cause we were both kids and I laughed at it, we both knew what sex was but to me it was just some disgusting thing married people do. I remember asking him if he enjoyed it, he said he didn't and he was scared if he would get in trouble, I assured him it was fine so far no one else knew about it. I noticed later on that more people were getting involved, some of the girls the secondary school girls friends had gotten involved, now more people were involved, they were talking dirty about this guy and he told me all the things that would happen, he said other girls from the class would take turns on him and one time they leggit did it in my classroom bathroom, damn they were dirty, all the girls would take turns on this guy different time different girls sometimes together. It was blowing up now as more people began to hear about it and my friend still being scared, shy, he didn't come to school for some weeks, he didn't want to talk to anyone after that but he finally opened up to me telling me how the girls would take turns on him and how he felt about it. Stupid young me told him it wasn't bad that since they didn't do it on a bed or sumt it wasn't real, yeah I told him that, I was really dumb about these things, I tried to get him not to worry at all but now almost everyone in my class had heard about it. It was reported to the principal and guess what?... It was swept under the rug, not even one thing was done to the girls, they went away with it smh and how did my buddy feel? well after everyone heard about it I guess he couldn't handle the shame so he stopped coming to school. That was the last day I heard from him. Now when I think about it I realise how stupid I was for not helping my friend and how MALES get treated on issues like this. 1 Like |

Weebo: Did your friend corroborate the story, only to have it thrown under the rug? Did his parents at least back him up or something and still nothing go done? |

Weebo:Now read this again and imagine the gender were switched smh |
Re: Why Do We Ignore Male Rape Cases? by Nobody: 11:37pm On May 11, 2020 |
Kobojunkie:Yes he did but to our classroom teacher, it was reported to the principal the next day but he didn't come to school anymore so idk EDIT: I think my teacher would have been influential enough to corroborate for my friend or the Principal could have made a call to his parents to further confirm. I have no idea what happened when the case was reported anyways, I wasn't there and my friend who kept me updated about the stuff wasn't there to tell me. I also know the girls weren't punished. Also it was a small school and they valued their reputation so much, one of the girls involved i remember was super rich probably daughter of a politician, all of these might have also played a role in the case being thrown away but still my friend was raped and deserved justice no matter what. |
Re: Why Do We Ignore Male Rape Cases? by Kobojunkie: 11:45pm On May 11, 2020 |
Weebo: The problem isnt the women many of you here are trying so hard to pin this on. The problem is the accepted cultural norms in Nigeria. Were this to have happened in western culture, all the gals involved would have earned for themselves a criminal record and a batch as sex offenders without much debate. However, in a setting like you have in Nigeria where the prevailing norm is those of the male gender are expected to pursue and enjoy sex and while being "strong" and adequately protect themselves against all forms of sexual attacks, filing a rape case becomes difficult because ot challenges the accepted. |
Re: Why Do We Ignore Male Rape Cases? by Kobojunkie: 11:46pm On May 11, 2020 |
Weebo: By any chance, was the principal male? And do you know if your friend's parents ever heard the story? Rape cases are in general difficult to prove. In the case that the victim is unwilling to male a case, there really isn't much that can be done. If your friend had maybe confided in his parents or maybe trustworthy adults, this case would not have simply died down as you suggest that it had. |
Re: Why Do We Ignore Male Rape Cases? by Nobody: 11:50pm On May 11, 2020 |
Kobojunkie:No the principal was a woman and I have no idea bc I never got anymore info about it. |
Re: Why Do We Ignore Male Rape Cases? by Nobody: 11:52pm On May 11, 2020 |
Kobojunkie: They literally owned up to doing it, isn't that enough proof |
Re: Why Do We Ignore Male Rape Cases? by Kobojunkie: 11:54pm On May 11, 2020 |
Keketu: There you go fueling the problem. Your statement there serves to bolster the gender stereotype that males are able to fight off every form of rape. Do you not see how this generalization gives support to the idea that that males cannot in fact be raped? That they in fact have the power to avoid being victims? 2 Likes |
Re: Why Do We Ignore Male Rape Cases? by Nobody: 12:00am On May 12, 2020 |
Kobojunkie:No one is pinning it on women here. I believe the post was only advocating on male abuse being ignored and not why WOMEN ARE THE CAUSE OF MALE ABUSE being ignored . Honestly I would blame it on men , I mean we make the rules in society so we brought up the idea of "TOXIC MASCULINITY" |
Re: Why Do We Ignore Male Rape Cases? by Kobojunkie: 12:11am On May 12, 2020 |
Weebo: Until the cultural beliefs are uprooted and/or the laws are updated to ensure better treatment for victims of crimes, we are likely to see these things continue to happen. |
