I think you're confusing a universe for a multiverse. The former can be quantified and can reach infinity, depending on the fiction. The latter, which may or may not be called an omniverse, metaverse or outerverse(depending on if the multiverse is said to include higher dimensional tiered spatial constructs), can only be singular and it houses the entirety of the former including parallel dimensions, pocket continuity, multiple timelines and whatnot.
It's the reason why the continuity crises in DC revolves round multiple to infinite earths, all within a single multiverse/omniverse or whatever name you choose to call it.

Actually, the film was directed by Albert Pyun. Van was the lead actor. I haven't watched it tho.
I heard it had some action but the plot was nothing to write home about.
