I seriously doubt TonyeBarcanista concocted this hogwash for public consumption.

We have enough political crisis in the southern Nigeria that Mr. Barcanista should focus on; for instance, the marginalization of the Ogoni People both by the state and federal government.

Ikwere people have been ruling Rivers State since 1999 till date and you are yet to raise an eyebrow because you are an Ikwerre man

But in Actual sense, Ogoni people deserve to produce a Rivers state governor than Southern Kanduna, but you have choose to chase shadows. Continue.....

I would have wanted u did same analysis on Plateau state. Isn't it a same reflection of wats happening in Kaduna? But only this tym, it is d other way round. So if Elrufai is to be blamed of marginalization, Lalong too and all his predecessors are to be blamed for years of marginalization of Muslims in Plateau

The one that pains me much, is that your people blocked the ocean so Ojukwu cannot win the war, you fought on the federal side and now the Feds have victory, they pushed your people into the gutter and shared the oil wells to the north.

What's more marginalising than that?

If you had sense you would not write this rubbish!
Why would any sane Okrika man or Rivers Ijaw man let Ojukwu win?
Do you know what Ojukwu was fighting for? Have you ever bothered to ask yourself why Adaka Boro rebelled against the government of Ironsi/Ojukwu (two Igbo)?

It was the Igbo nation that lost oil revenue to Nigeria, not the Ijaw nation! As early as 1958 your elite had taken Ijaw oil wealth for themselves.

If anything is wrong with Nigeria today it is all courtesy of the Igbo elite and their stupid power play.

In a matter of time the truth will prevail.
I pray against discrimination
I pray against oppression

I remember the Muslim group accused Fayemi and Fayose at different times of discriminating against Muslims in appointment in Ekiti, but it was not true because I was following the appointment patterns then, Muslims had slots.

Everyone who has followed Kaduna politics since 1994 will know that unlike even Plateau and Gombe states, Kaduna is made to make deliberate moves in balancing the Muslim/Christian populace in terms of appointment and elections.

While other states like Kwara, Kogi, Delta and Taraba among other states with many tribes try to do their balance based on senatorial zones and tribes, not religion, Kaduna has had to make their balance based on religion.
Sadly El Rufai disrupted the balance in tagging with a Muslim deputy from southern Kaduna living a very bad precedence.

I know as a fact as I've lived in Sabo Tasha that Kaduna has a very very large number of Christians in the entire state, I mean indigenes not people from neighbouring states like Niger, Kebbi or others, but real Kaduna people who are Christians.
Yet they are discriminated against. Why? Not good.

As I said I hate discrimination against any, faith, status, race, religion, tribe, educational level, or financial standing.

I stand for balance.
I stand with Kaduna Christians on this one, and so would others, even Muslims who would stand by the truth irrespective. Remember when you are the one being oppressed you would want others to also stand with you?

But it's Obvious el-rufai is taking after his Boss Buhari.

Southern Kaduna (Christians) voted massively for PDP in the last elections and it was glaring for all to see. Figures don't lie.

So I guess he is rewarding those that voted him in wholeheartedly.

THE BRAZEN ACT OF MARGINALISATION OF CHRISTIANS IN KADUNA STATE BY GOVERNOR ELRUFAI

By Tamunotonye Inioribo @TonyeBarcanista

Kaduna state, a beautiful state located in the heart of the northwest, is popularly referred to as a miniature Nigeria. This is because the state has a sharp religious demographical spread of Islam and Christianity adherents between the northern and southern zones of the respectively similar to what is obtained in Nigeria.

Muslim-Christian Demography
Kaduna has 23 local government areas spread across the northern senatorial zone, central senatorial zone and southern senatorial zone. Twelve of these 23 local government areas are predominantly Muslims while eleven are predominantly Christians. The state is also constitutionally divided into three senatorial zones, namely; northern, central and southern zones.

The northern senatorial zone, also called zone 1, consists of eight local government areas namely; Ikara, Kudan, Kubau, Lere, Makarfi , Sabon-Gari, Soba and Zaria local government areas. Of the eight local government areas in this zone, only Lere local government area is predominantly Christian, while the other seven are predominantly Muslims.

The central senatorial district, also called zone 2, is made up of seven local government areas namely; Birnin-Gwari, Chikun, Giwa, Igabi, Kaduna north, Kaduna south and Kajuru local government areas. All of these seven local government areas are predominantly Muslims except Chikun and Kajuru local government areas that are predominantly Christians.

The southern senatorial zone, also called zone 3, is made up of eight local government areas. They are; Jaba, Jama'a, Kachia, Kagarko, Kaura, Kauru, Sanga and Zango-Kataf local government areas. All these eight local government areas in this zone are predominantly Christian.

The official population of Kaduna state was put at 6,113,503 with spread as follows;
Northern Zone (Zone 1)
Ikara LGA -194,723
Kubau LGA - 280,704
Kudan LGA - 138,956
Lere LGA - 339,740
Makarfi LGA - 146,574
Sabon-Gari LGA - 291,358
Soba LGA - 291,173
Zaria LGA - 406,990
Total: 2,090,218
Central Zone (Zone two)
Birnin-Gwari LGA 258,581
Chikun LGA - 372,272
Giwa LGA - 292,384
Igabi LGA - 430,753
Kaduna North LGA - 364,575
Kaduna South LGA - 402,731)
Kajuru LGA - 109,810
Total: 2,231,106
Southern Zone (Zone three)
Jaba LGA - 155,973
Jama’a LGA - 278,202
Kachia LGA - 252,568
Kagarko LGA - 239,058
Kaura LGA - 174,626
Kauru LGA - 221,276
Sanga LGA - 151,485
Zangon-Kataf LGA - 318,991
Total: 1,792,179

From official population as seen above, the Muslim predominant north has 2,090,218, the central zone has 2,231,106 population and the Christian predominant south zone has 1,792,179 population, but there is no official fact to ascertain the true population of Christians and Muslims in the state. Nonetheless, the state governor, mallam Nasir Elrufai, a Muslim from the northern senatorial district, argued that the religious demography in the state is 70-30 in favor of the Muslims. The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), the umbrella body of the predominately Christian southern Kaduna people, put the religious demography at 50-50. While neutral observers posited that the religious demography in Kaduna state should be between an evenly 50-50 spread, or a 55-45 spread favor of the Muslims.

Political Marginalization Under Governor Nasir Elrufai
Despite the predominance of the Christian population in eleven out of the twenty three local government areas, the Kaduna state government under Governor Nasir Elrufai, a Muslim, chose to perpetuate a brazen act of marginalisation by excluding the state's Christian population from participating in the affairs of the government since the commencement of his second term. For the first time in the history of Kaduna state, no Christian is found in any of the principal positions across the three arms of government and the civil service.

Governor Nasir Elrufai started the marginalisation in 2018 when he broke the traditional Muslim-Christian ticket or Christian-Muslim ticket in any gubernatorial contests to nominate Hajiyya Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, a fellow Muslim as his running mate for the 2019 gubernatorial election after his former deputy, Arc Bala Bantex, a Christian, opted to run for the Senate to represent the people of Kaduna south senatorial district under the platform of All Progressive Congress.

After his victory at the hotly contested Kaduna state 2019 gubernatorial election against Honourable Ashiru Kudan of Peoples Democratic Party, Governor Elrufai shut out Christians in the state from the running of government. This he did by ensuring that only Muslims are appointed as senior principal officers in the government. This is aside the fact that himself and the deputy governor are Muslims.

The principal government officers are;
Secretary to the State Government - Mallam Balarabe Abbas Lawal
Chief of Staff to the Governor - Muhammad Sani Abdullah
Kaduna state Head of Service - Hajiyya Bariatu Yusuf Mohammed
Principal Private Secretary - Dr. Salisu Suleiman.

No Christian Among The Entire Presiding And Principal Officers In Kaduna House of Assembly
The marginalisation continues in the legislative arm of government with no single Christian as a member of any of the presiding and principal offices . The Speaker of the House, Honourable Yusuf Tanimu Zailani, the Deputy Speaker Honourable Muktar Isa Hazo, the Majority Leader Alhaji Haruna M A Inuwa, the Chief Whip, Alhaji Idris Abdullahi, the Deputy Majority Leader Alhaji Shehu Yunusa and Deputy Chief Whip Alhaji Salisu Isah, are all Muslims. Meanwhile, the clerk of the Kaduna state House of Assembly, Bello Zubairu is also a Muslim.
Also The Judiciary...
The head of Kaduna state judicial arm of government and Chief Judge of the state, Justice Muhammad Lawal Bello, is also a Muslim.
As if that is not enough, the only two ministers from Kaduna state in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari, Zainab Ahmed, the minister of finance, and Muhammad Mahmoud, the minister of environment were chosen from the Muslim population.

The development in Kaduna state is indeed a bad omen. It is bad that a state with significant Christian population that are predominant in eleven out of the state's twenty three local government areas, has no senior principal government official across all the three arms of government of the state. What is more disturbing is that Governor Nasir Elrufai, the perpetrator of this brazen act of religious marginalization in Kaduna state, is aspiring to run as presidential candidate at the Nigeria's Presidential election at the termination of his second term in 2023.

This real the real problem of Nigeria

Tribe/Religion has done more harm than good to the people of Nigeria.

Op
in anything you say or do you are first a Nigerian before anything else.

haven't you observe that since the beginning of Elrufai's second tenure, Kaduna state has been peaceful to some extent...
No any form of uprising emanating from ethnicity or religiosity....

So Op before you write on anything weigh your observations from both sides........

See the problem with Nigeria. They so called people appointed, aren't they from Kaduna? Does religion of the person really matter?
The important thing is that they carry out their function properly. If they err, they should be sacked and replaced but that law doesn't hold forte in Nigeria. As far as am aware, they is calm in Kaduna politics, they aren't complaining so I don't understand why Tonye is crying over spilt milk. I was in Kaduna recently and Elrufai is working whether you like it or not you can't hate the man. If the trusted people carrying out this developments are Muslims, so be it.

Call me biased, call me naive, call me an APC supporter, call me whatever...

But this thread is much ado about nothing.

Yes, so we should replace El-Rufai with someone who will appoint all Chirstians and everything would be better ....like magic.

You know, this is what they have been telling us for years...and no I am not from Kaduna state. They are marginalising us. They are going to sign laws that will make us all go Muslim, etc etc...

And at the end of the day, what happens? Nothing.

The problem with this article is that the aim is to get Chirstians to vote out APC. Which is ok...El-Rufai is not really impressing me much (He was voted in as the MAN WHO TRANSFORMED ABUJA....yet several years later, nothing much has changed)
But even then, how many Chirstians will a Chirstian governor appoint? How many jobs can a Chirstian governor give Chirstians? Are we going to vote a Christian governor in so that he can give our people nice juicy appointments...that at best might affect only 100 or 200 people and their dependents?

The problem with this thread is that this is why we are not a developed country. It is why the North is still underdeveloped despite years of Hausas ruling the roost, why the South did not benefit from GEJ, and so on.

We are voting in people not so that we can be developed, but so that they can give our SONS AND DAUGHTERS big person job...in the hope that when we break a traffic law, they will help us.

The question we should be asking about El Rufai's appointees is 'ARE THEY QUALIFED FOR THE JOB?' If not, then we can complain till thy kingdom come. If they are then we should kindly keep quiet about their religion or lack thereof.

(By the way, I am a Christian, and have been treated by Muslim, athiest and even an Eckist doctor. When choosing them, did I look at their religion or whether they were qualified for the job? Oh yes, I have been treated by Christians too...).

We have been hearing about marginalisaiton for years. Meanwhile, we are still severely underdeveloped. Obviously the marginalisation story has not done us any good.

It is even getting to the point where some years ago, Ibos were protesting against an Ibo vice chancellor appointee because he was not the right kind of Ibo. Or the Yourbas protesting against a Yoruba appointee because she was not the right kind of Yourba...even though she was married to the 'right kind'.

Nigerians self.

OK...let's vote for a good christian governor in 2023...so that he can appoint CHirstians to the jobs...so that we would be admiring them like fine porcelian or something. Development, what's that?

The christians in kaduna, sponsored by CAN, spent several years demonizing El Rufai as a rabid Muslim fanatic on the basis of some comments he made, which were then twisted by CAN and its media wing to portray Mallam in a bad light. There's nothing Mallam has said that's any worse than what many pastors such as Suleiman say all the time and none of them were deemed out of line by CAN.

Mallam was harassed and embarrassed when he visited kafanchan to commiserate with the people after a clash.

The blood thirsty christians of kasuwan magani started a genocide that saw hundreds of Muslims slaughtered, and the christians blamed Mallam. Then later when the Agom was kidnapped by highwaymen and later murdered, christians completely blamed Mallam and were silent over the hundreds of Muslims kidnapped daily on the highways.

During the elections CAN hatched a plot to ensure every single christian voted PDP to kick Mallam out, and they bought into the lie that kaduna is 50% christian.

Well the results have clearly shown that christians are a minority because they failed to dislodge mallam.

And you lie that there's no christian in a powerful position in the government. Samuel Aruwan is the commissioner for interior and security. That's a powerful position.

As long as CAN and the christian minorities in kaduna will assume an antagonistic position then they'll have to contend with the status they chose for themselves.

You're trying to create an unnecessary controversy because of attention. You should be more concerned with what your Wike is doing in your own neck of the woods.

The one that pains me much, is that your people blocked the ocean so Ojukwu cannot win the war, you fought on the federal side and now the Feds have victory, they pushed your people into the gutter and shared the oil wells to the north.

What's more marginalising than that?
you're from which region

I agree with you to an extent. nevertheless, what is good for the goose should also be good for the gander.

After these, I hope you open another thread for the marginalization of Islam in Plateau state too cos the last time I checked no Muslim has never being governor of Plateau state since 1999.
Sir, the problem is not office of Governor, the problem is shutting out a group from holding any position as Deputy Governor, SSG, COS, Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader, Chief Whip, Deputy Majority Leader, Deputy Whip, House Clerk and even CJ of the State. Also worse is shutting them out from ministers even when there is two slot.

My brother, I'm not particular about it because Christians are affected, I am because it is the right thing to do.

Tomorrow, a Christian may cite the precedent and do worse to Muslims... God forbid!

BTW we are talking of people predominantly occupying 11 out of 23 LGAs

Juzt imagine the nonsense this tonye they type. If you have Muslims only or Christians only does that equate to good governance. Nigeria has no hope if people continue to think this way. Buhari Osunbade combo who did it help

So if your neighbor's house is burning you will sit at home because it is not your house and therefore not your business? Why are you reasoning like an infant na?

Your own house is burning, literally and figuratively, but you're concerned about a small spark in someone's house.

This is why I love my people, what ever is happening in other zones is none of our business.

Why is a failed political analyst from Rivers State more concerned with what's happening in Kaduna state?

How do you qualify a person as a failed political analyst? Hmmmm
If it's the Christian part of Kaduna marginalising the Moslem part, I would have called for a redress of that imbalance, though am a Christian.
Look at the Europeans, when Bosnia( a predominantly Muslim enclave) was under siege and their people being killed by the predominantly Orthodox Christian Serbs, the Europeans who are christians spoke out against this and even later arrested Serb war criminals and sent them to life imprisonment.
The Europeans did the above on the premise that: The man dies in him who keeps quiet against tyranny and oppression as quoted by Prof. Rotimi Osofisan.
Infact, Europe as an example is very far away, when Boko Haram started initially, they mostly targeted christians and other Muslims were nonchalant about it, but what happened eventually? They started visiting their fellow Muslims with death and destruction because they believed that the other Muslims were not practicing Islamic religion the same way with them.
If you tell tonyebarcanista to keep mute as Kaduna State does not concern him, is it when El-Rufai becomes President and unleashes such parochial mindset on the nation that we shall expect him to speak out?
The nation is already deeply divided by the actions of our current politicians and we do not need more of such politicians to drive our country into the abyss.

Just keep quiet if you've got nothing meaningful to say. What's the percentage of muslims on the Plateau? They hold no majority in any of the local government areas there: unless in Wase Lga, where they should be like 35%
Dont just compare Kaduna to Plateau abeg!

The only solution and respite would come only when they have a state to call their own.
