Elemi - inside
Elemowa - room

Ake - food
Owake - kitchen

Owẹna - learning
Owo owẹna - school

Ebe- books
Owebe - library

Ana - prayer
Owana - mosque

Amẹ - water
Owamẹ - toilet / bathroom

Ogie - king, chief
Ogiowa - sitting room, parlour, main room

ẸZọ - argument, case

Gbe - beat, hit, strike, kill
Igbemi - beating, hitting
Ugbe - missile (something that strikes)
Ọgbe - beater, hitter e.g ọgbe mẹ (My beater, killer)
N.B - gbe is probably the most commonly used word in Edo languages. It is used in a variety of combinations to give different meanings.

Ikemi - sharing.
Okemi - sharer

Ẹzọ - argument
Gu ẹzọ - argue
Iguẹzọ - the act of arguing
Ọguẹzọ - lawyer

Udukpa!!! Is used as an exclamation when something silly or unexpected happen. The real meaning is "big/ srrong vagina!!" Loll. It's dirty i know

Common roots. They both descend from the same parent language.

Extinct.

It's only in extremely rare cases that parent languages survive alongside the daughter languages they gave rise to. Eg, Latin surviving (mostly in Catholic liturgy) alongside its daughter languages Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, etc.

Let me follow this thread,wanting to learn my mum language,but it has always been difficult and the worst part of it is that my hobby to be is from Apana,so I don't have choice than to learn estakor.
