fiizznation:What you need is not the total lifting up of the lockdown but palliatives. The state and federal government have to some extent ignorantly assisted the spread of the virus by not giving enough palliatives to those who live in urban areas thereby making residents of these areas to troop out en masse to banks and markets on days when there is no lockdown. 1 Like |

Chairman of Borno State Response Committee on Prevention and Control of COVID-19, who is also the state’s deputy governor, Hon. Usman Umar Kadafur, has said that the state government decided to suspend the three-week old lockdown but with stringent measures to be adopted by both the government and people. He also commended the people of the state for their support and cooperation during the lockdown while appealing to the state association of Ulamas and CAN to ensure strict compliance with the face masks wearing and maintenance of social distancing in mosques and churches during worship. The deputy governor stated this in a statement on Wednesday night before the expiration of the lockdown by 10:30pm. willyjacs:Do you know 55million people die yearly normally from diabetes, obesity, violence, poverty, natural deaths and other causes normally? Do you know how long Coro will be with us,lockdown is not sustainable, we are a poor country, government is begging and borrowing up and down, are you not thinking of the death and deprivation that 80% of the population will be subjected to in further lockdown? Coro kills less than 10% of those infected, some people immune can resist it, just like we are living with HIV anc co, soon Coro will be like that, our lives can not stop because of one virus. Lockdown for Lagos is a lazy approach, and not proportionate to the present threat. Lockdown does more harm than good in Lagos., time for lockdown has passed, the world is moving on with research, and management of the virus and the patients, lockdown is not sustainable, hence its good we learn to live with Coro now, while we look for ways to beat it. |

dederocs:Nigerians won't listen, you know your people. Immediately there is no lockdown on a particular day everyone is out, some people just come out to see if truly there is no lockdown, the pick pockets and the agberos get back to business etc. I believe the government should reduce the days which banks and markets are to open to just two days per week for at least two weeks to serve as warning to those who took the social distancing rule as a joke . After the two weeks, the banks and markets should re-open but this time there should be an arrangement to arrest all those flouting the social distancing rule in markets, banks especially etc. The arrested violators of the social distancing rule should be taken to testing centers and if they are negative they should be sent to a mobile court but if they are infected they should be taken to isolation centres. The minimum use of force is the only way to make nigerians understand that the social distancing rule is for the benefit of all nigerians. 1 Like |

fiizznation: How about deaths, the number of dead people and graves is independent of tests. The depressing images of dead people and mass graves plaguing Brazil, the US, Italy, UK, Spain, etc. are independent of number of tests -- those are realities that can't be hidden, tests or no tests. OTOH, you can't on the one hand be suggesting we definitely would/should have more figures, while at the same time kicking against lockdown! I don't have the time nor energy this morning, brother. 1 Like |

fiizznation: So our not having figures like Spain, Italy etc as a result of not too encouraging testing would prevent fatalities, whether one is tested to confirm his/her status or not, if you become infected by the virus, and not lucky, you will die, infact not getting tested is even more dangerous, by the time you start hearing of homogous number of deaths around your neighbourhood fear would grip you. So stop sounding like you gat better alternative to the lockdown, you don't know more than those that recommended it. If you like don't stay safe and personally responsible, you will learn the hard way. 1 Like |

willyjacs:My argument here is lockdown isn't for us Africans most especially nigerians. The countries you guys are mentioning provided some sorts of palliatives to their citizens when they imposed the fascist lockdown approach on their citizens. Even at that, the lockdown didn't actually contained the virus in those countries. What contained the virus a little bit when was mass testing was carried out, the importance of social distancing was preached by their leaders and the use of face masks was enforce on the citizens. Go figure my bro. I don't know but I just believe the media are the number proponents of this lockdown approach. Lol is like they are against anything that isn't lockdown. We shouldn't always forget that what we think actually worked for Europeans will really work for us. The former cbn governor provided a nice African solution on how we can contain the virus the African way, but I believe the PTF on covid19 don't want to use his approach. Ps: God has been the one that is protecting us. If not....?.... hmmm |

Sweetmom: Because New York is a central business hub like Lagos and Florida is like Enugu. Florida is sparsely populated while New York is highly congested. Cause more flights pass through New York and Atlanta than Florida. Cause Florida can easily be monitored and controlled than a congested New York. Cause there are more poor people and slums in New York than Florida. Shall I go on? |

dbonks:Who are the people that recommended it? Didn't we copy the lockdown approach from America and Europe? Had it been we have any sense in this country the first thing to do was to halt entry of flights into the country and make our immigration officers to police our porous borders until europe and America contained the virus in their respective nations. But since we didn't do that, the locking up of innocent people our leaders are doing now is utter nonsense to me. Allow people to carryout their normal business while a mass testing is going on. Enforce the use of face masks in public places, offenders should be punished. Enlighten people on the importance of social distancing and make sure it is observed to the minimum level before going for the maximum level. Schools, religious houses and any place were any social gathering will occur should always provide hand sanitizers in that place. These are just things I expect our leaders to be talking about and not the silly lockdown this lockdown that they are always singing. |

fiizznation: You have time replying people with low IQ... Ok, let assume: Shutdown will reduce the death. Accepted. Let continue to shutdown to reduce the death till their is a vaccine. Accepted. According to WHO, vaccine would be out by 2021 ending. So we would Shutdown the country till 2021 December... lastly in their warp mind they believe Government would or should be sharing palliative till 2021 Dec, with borrowed money and zero oil sales like they never did in the first 4week of the Shutdown and will never do even tho oil is $100/barrel. Tho I don't blame them, immediately Nigerian voted Buhari, I knew they lack the ability to make good decision 1 Like |

Jeromejnr:Stockholm aint sparsely populated. There are 2 international AirPort alone in stockholm with numerous transfer flight to other European city. Its all about knowledge of the virus and how it can be limited without subjecting any of the city to perpetual lockdown. If there are too much people in a bank, why cant the bank give their customers apppointment and time by phone or net before coming to the banking. Bus can use facemask as criteria before boarding and let there be a mark on the ground to signify minimum distance between individual anywhere there will be congregation of people waiting for any Services. Its not about educated citizen but proactive government and authority that put right measure in place to control peoples behaviour. All over the world human species behavior are similar. |
