Early this morning (around 12:02 am), I saw this snake on my lobby close to my toilet. I don't know where it came out from but there is a hole on my toilet where I usually see cockroaches. There is also an ant hole close to the toilet door. I don't know if it came out from any of those holes.

Also, does any one know the characteristics of this snake? Is it poisonous?

Do you think the snake offspring will be in my house?

This is the first time I am seeing snake in my house (the house is 11 years old). What can I use to repel snakes around my house?

Please help, I really need to address this. There is a 3weeks old baby on the other apartment. Thanks.

Very likely this is a spitting cobra.... poisonous snake.
It's very active at night time and it's a very good climber ,it climbs walls very well..
Please search everywhere , all nooks and crannies of your house and block any holes you find.
OP, Na Jehovah God save una Ooo oo !

You can't just waste this meat like that. If you can't eat it, give it to someone to eat, or give other animals that might be interested dogs or cats. Let's try and balance the eco system. Don't kill what you can't eat. If you wouldn't eat it, then don't kill it.

Op if you are in Ondo State. You can call us for your fumigation. Exactly the type of snake one of our client killed recently. He later discovered that it was frog that attracted the snake to the house. Pictures attached

Its most likely poisonous because of the color combination and skin texture. A close up picture would help identify it better.
But it looks like a cobra or a mamba.

There is a rule of thumb I always tell people to follow.
If a rat can enter your house, then a snake can enter too.

Block all holes, keep the environment clean, clear all bushes around.
Make sure your fence doesn't have holes, cement the top of the fence if it isn't cemented.
Dispose your waste as frequently as possible. They attract rats and rats attract snakes.
Fumigate often, not just inside, but outside as well.

I heard bitter kola repels them . Not sure if it does.

I read somewhere that garlic helps, lemon grass does too

I pray I should never come across any snake in my house.....
Cos I'm just wondering what will happen

I'll just open the door and runaway..

what if you're cornered, I once saw a snake in front of my room door, it was green and as long as this. I had to run back inside and remove my window curtain hanger which was very long and used it to kill it from 12fts away, I almost lost my sanity that day but I was cornered and could not run, I had to kill it or wait for it to come for me

Then you should know that their mother is there

Thank God you found it.For it to swallow 2 rats who knows how long it had lived in your place. The swallows made it sluggish so it was a good thing .
Get someone to fumigate the house and then check your windows and doors and plumbing works for gaps and holes.

Bros is there a snake that is not harmful?

The one used as pet eventually killed it's owner

That's one harmful snake right there. Looks like black mamba though. It's poison kills within 5mins.

Chai Jesus...where did u get your info from. Even mamba isn't the most poisonous snake. The most poisonous venom from inland taipan takes at least 30mins before it can kill.

this is viper snake. One of the most poisonous snakes in the world

This is not a viper at all. Vipers looks more like rattle snake than mambas.

This is great. Thank you very much sir.
I really do not understand that 2 soak away part. There are two apartments in the house. One soak away each and they are far from each other. I have been spraying chemicals. The chemical will kill the cockroaches and worms enmasse, but they will still come back later.
I will still pour more chemicals and cover the holes tomorrow and I will also yield to your other advices.
Can you throw more light on that soak away part and do you think the snake offsprings will be in my house? Thanks.
i think what that guy meant was you should disconnect or terminate any connection between your septic tank from your Soak away.
Soak away is for sewage waste ( liquid waste ) , while Septic tank is for solid waste.
So try inviting a plumber and a fumigator to come do some work around your house, from there you can ask for advice on matters you aren't sure about.

You can not say o. Snake somehow looks like cobra. It might be venomous o

Spitting Cobra are of two types red necked and African bush cobra. The latter which is in Nigeria usually have have two red stripes on the chest and they are black.

But the snake I am seeing in the pics looks more like a non venomous house snake.

Clear you environment of bushes, grass, pile of junks and there prey (as mentioned earlier: rats, mice, toads/frogs and grasshopper.

I just Google it. Black mamba takes 20mins. Lol

So the snake you felt was very poisonous, isn't so poisonous.

It is a baby-cobra and it's dangerously poisonous. Block all holes in your house and make sure your doors and windows are always closed. I killed one in my house last week, the first time we're seeing snake inside our apartment. There are chemicals and flowers that repel snakes. Get some like I did.

Thank God it didn't hurt you
