At your last point, a lot of people do and it surprises me. Well coming from Amoled display, brightness at low settings have been a part and parcel of me.
true, many people do. Some would even ask to take a look at your phone and then increase the brightness to uncomfortable levels. undecided

Amoled over LCD anytime.
As someone who reads a lot of eBooks, Amoled is pleasing to the eyes even at the lowest brightness.
Not sure I'm ever going to use an IPS LCD display again.

For people talking about Screen burn in issues, do you always leave your Phone on max brightness, like really?

Tank u O jare...

I doubt I have used my screen past 50% brightness at any time.

This is not only an amoled problem.

Okayyyyy. I'm learning something. Which other display tech suffers from the same issue?!

lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed : undecided undecided. People who buy phones with amoled displays do not even think of the "cost of repair", they just buy for the satisfaction it gives them for media and viewing. This conception that amoled is not great because of the cost of repair dey one kain jare. Personally i won't use an LCD display as a daily driver.
If them like they should make an LCD screen with 120hz for $200, I can't use it. It's AMOLED or nothing

So I got my note 8 pro earlier this week
And it has been FANTASTIC
i did a little bit of tweaking and I now have a small problem I don't know how to resolve
I use the launcher that came with the phone as well as one dope theme I found on their theme app
So yesterday I did this region thing and went to India to get a font and brought it back to Nigeria
So my small issue is this
I could be using the phone for hours now and then it suddenly just takes me to the homepage and back to the default theme...the font still remains though

Issue is I still want to be able to use my theme or any other theme without the phone cancelling them

P.S if there's any nice feature or tweak to make my Xiaomi experience better please let me know
-i haven't also done any update yet.....still feeling the whole new phone vibe and exploring the current update before I update next week or the week after

NO VEX SAY MY WRITE UP PLENTY,NA SO THE PHONE DEY SWEET ME

I had an issue quite similar to yours on the same device. Mine is my wall paper changing back to the default after some time. The issue persisted even after updating.

I decided to download a new theme from the app, used my desired fonts and a wallpaper from my gallery and it has not reverted ever since

To be frank, I have been using amole screen for long without having any changes in my vision but now just less than six months of using lcd on redmi note 8, I'm facing blur vision.

you guys should chill on this anti-AMOLED rants jor. Just a few months ago, on this same thread, AMOLED was considered far better than LCD in everything and now it's considered bad? Must people jump from one extreme opinion to another?

Know what you need and what is best for it. Then regard that discovery as it truly is - a personal opinion. Our own tastes do not make AMOLED or LCD good or bad.

Also, take care of your devices. There are people who use their phones without having to repair anything. Same phones others see burns or get cracks and have to fix.

Highly noted. Thats why I was specific to myself. This has been my personal experience. Probably, I'm the unfortunate one landing with unfortunate display. grin

Please note that I'm not against AMOLED. Heck, if they find a solution to the burnins, I will port. But make them release a device with IPS screen and SD865, until they time they find a solution.

I think you should see a optometrist . No kidding, if you're experiencing such, it could be a symptom of astigmatism.

Despite refresh rate even using devices with a 4k resolution for a while and switching to 1080p will be annoying to get used too. A colleague of mine used a G6 for a while and had to purchase a Razer Blade 14 because he was used to QHD content.

well, you don't need to port. Use what you prefer. Just know the pros and cons of each.

There are many who would also complain when they see an IPS LCD screen on a device with SD865 and, I dare say, they are in the vocal majority.

I personally don't mind using either. Based on my phone usage, I know what I should be expecting after a year of use.

The iQOO Neo3 phone by Vivo might fit your taste. I think it has been released already.

True. My former PC has a 4k panel and current one is 1440p, there's a big difference in crispiness and beauty of the display. But in terms of refresh rates, you'd barely notice a difference between 60hz and 144hz in large displays like laptop PCs unless you're gaming.

IQOO is launching the Z1 soon with Dimensity 1000+ and 144Hz display. Dunno if it's going to be AMOLED but it might be interesting to check out.
