Ibime: Messi would be kicked about like a rag doll lol. you think Messi would be allowed by defenders to dribble then like he does now? also referees were a lot more lenient with tackles and top players don't get the extra protection they get now. you're also naive if you think Ronaldo wasn't good in tight spaces just because he's known to pace past players. Not saying I agree with madrid5 but consider Ronaldo won the best player in the world at the age of 20, which remains the youngest ever player to win the award. maybe that was a fluke but he won the next one again at 21 (Messi was almost 23 when he won his first) spent a single season in Barcelona but set record for most goals scored in a single laliga season that single year. went to inter Milan (Italy was the best and hardest league in the world then) won best player in serie a in his first season. then a combination of injuries, rough tackles and thyroid problem made his career go downhill from there but even at that he came back from a long injury layoff to win the 2002 best player in the world award, a world cup and a world cup golden boot. So Ronaldo may not have the longevity of Messi or C. Ronaldo but thinking the level of talent he had at the time is inferior to those can only be uttered by someone who doesn't know him or is simply biased 9 Likes 1 Share |

eph12: There is a difference between someone who's able to separate his beliefs from his duty and someone who tries hard to mix both. a scientist worth his salt should be able to dump whatever religion he believes in as soon as he wants to carry out his research. |

Godx: Yep, that was a trap! because the guy who said that is regarded by apologists as someone who opposes slavery just because he said a slave who ran away should go back to his master while urging the master to set him free. so would you be so kind to tell me where the Bible wether old and new condemned slavery? because I could quote a lot of verses where it's endorsed and encouraged |

hopefulLandlord:You're still talking in parables. There are millions of very successful people who haven't denied their religions. They didn't blame religion for their lack of success during the struggling days. |

hopefulLandlord: Hope you won't keep lying. As far as we know, the "slavery" of ancient Israel was primarily debt slavery and corvee labor. The Bible didn't endorsed it but set out guidelines on how they were to be followed. 1 Like |

eph12:I'm not saying they "should" deny it, I'm saying good scientists would drop their religion when it comes to duty. an evolutionary biologist who keeps assuming some god in his research should be seen as an idiot. go to church, mosque or shrine BUT when it's time to face your own duty you drop those right at the door |

Godx: Exodus 12:43-45 (NRSV) 43 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron: This is the ordinance for the passover: no foreigner shall eat of it, 44 but any slave who has been purchased may eat of it after he has been circumcised; 45 no bound or hired servant may eat of it. Leviticus 22:10-11 (NRSV) 10 No lay person shall eat of the sacred donations. No bound or hired servant of the priest shall eat of the sacred donations; 11 but if a priest acquires anyone by purchase, the person may eat of them; and those that are born in his house may eat of his food. These passages show that there is a difference between someone who is hired, someone who is a bonded servant, and someone who is bought, paid for, and owned. These are laws for priests. If the Bible had a problem with people owning other people, why couldn't it at least ban the priesthood from owning slaves? 3 Likes |

Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by hopefulLandlord: 7:07am On May 15, 2020 |
izzou: that's fair enough but I see criticising a belief and a believer to be two different things that shouldn't be confused as the same. |

afrodoc2:Kids: Mom, Dad, we're gonna have some friends over for a party and we want access to the liquor cabinet even though we're all underaged. Parents: It's already unlocked. Don't drink on an empty stomach, drink water to curb your hangover, and if anybody passes out, roll them on their side so they don't choke to death. Godx's logic: Those parents are clearly against underage drinking. Look at all the reasonable limits and regulations they put on how their kids were supposed to go about it. They would have been ignored if they had outright forbidden it, so they're better parents for handling it this way, but they still obviously do not condone underage drinking. 1 Like |
