amakenny: The best thing to happen to a country is homogenous population, common language and culture - take aside religion, because religion only plays a role when there is ethnic diversity in a country. Oduduwa Republic may be a beautiful country to behold in Africa, but can the Yoruba go for it? Or not, until oil finishes in the old eastern region?

The above postulation is a very simplistic and illusionary ideal. Nigeria will never see growth and development beyond concrete and corrugated iron sheets as long as it remains as presently constituted. Nigeria can not ward off external aggression without going down by internal implosion.

amor4ce: @Gbawe, an omo ale uses his left hand to point at (show the way) to his father's house. Only a thoroughly brainwashed house negro or negropean would accept and promote and seek to preserve the very savage works of the oyinbo (including the Berlin Conference, murder and enslavement of millions during the trans-Atlantic, trans-Saharan and oriental slavery). It is only an omo ale that will sell his inheritance and father's property and welcome others to claim it without his father's consent. It is only an omo ale that will despise, belittle and refer to his ancestors as primitive and condescendingly refer to his people as "atavistic" for loving and respecting their ancestors. The Berlin Conference was evil and has been used till date to divide non-nomadic black Africans. Perhaps you are a pro-oyinbo halfcaste, or been bleaching your soul, or your soul is actually oyinbo, perhaps not, hopefully not. This attitude of condscension and disregard for indigenous heritage shows up cosistently in your posts.Shame on you.

The racist proclivity behind this foul-mouthed rant ,you think portrays you an "Oduduwa patriot", is very obvious. Are you more Yoruba than me or anyone else? What has brought "house negro", "Negropean" , "pro-Oyinbo" and "half-caste" into this issue racist tw1t !!!! I repeat again, do you think yourself more Yoruba than everyone else? Ugly racist.

We do not need a new nation to make the SW a developed region. We only need a few changes at the centre and I believe these changes will be seen if the PDP is defeated.
While I agree with you that changes to the centre are needed, such as fiscal federalism, and more devolution of powers to the federating units, are you sure that these changes will emerge with the defeat of the PDP? The alternatives to the PDP have not shown that they have the will or vision to push through such a change. We will probably end up like the animals in Animal Farm...exchanging one set of overlords for another.

Gbawe:

"Acceptance" is overrated. If the right leaders are elected, they will initiate the reforms and bold changes needed that gradualists, from every single ethnic group, will avoid when elected into positions they do not have the ability to use in moving the nation forward. How is "acceptance" connected with leaders fully empowered to deliver changes, one after the other, blatantly rejecting the required course of action that can move all of us forward? What acceptance is GEJ looking for that prevents him from being the leader championing the cause of State policing? Does GEJ need the acceptance of every ethnic group in Nigeria before he directs that we stop selling our crude through traders, as Ribadu suggested, so as to destroy theft against Nigeria?

Dude, you don't have to just unquestioningly embrace what has been sold to you as the "only solution" and then rigidly sticking to this in the face of evidence that shows you are misguided. Look at the truth of matters to note you have been scammed. Begin to look at even your own leaders and elders with honesty. Are they sincere? How many real leaders today, even those from your very household, do you see agitating for separation when they become part of the "power order"? How come Okonjo-Iweala, Anyim et al are not making the same noise you disturb us with on this forum daily? Even you will sing a different tune tomorrow if made a Senator.

I just think we should focus on the centre delivering changes that mean all of us can develop our States and region optimally instead of vacuously insisting others "hold us back" when we are the ones most responsible for holding ourselves back. It is like Africans lampooning the West while ignoring their own wicked and inhuman leaders who get a lot and give them nothing in return. The NDDC, headed by Niger Deltans, is one big house of scam and treachery against the Niger Delta. What then is the point for a Niger Deltan to think he would fare better under the same merciless looter in an independent Nation? what is the point of the Niger Deltan going around shouting that the Yoruba and Hausa man are his biggest problem when his own blood brother is mercilessly and directly stabbing him in the back?

I solemnly believe that removal of petroleum subsidy is a smart move that will help Nigeria.
I supported Jonathan on that wit all my heart. I campaigned in whatever little way I could for the removal.
I did that for 2 reasons:

1. It will make our market free as market forces will determine petroleum prices.
2. It will deal a big blow to the fraud in the oil sector.

What did Nigerians do? The effort was thwarted.
Today, I am hearing that generator importation might be banned while a state of emergency will be declared on the power sector. I will do that if I am the president of Nigeria. Your guess is as good as mine of what will happen if Jonathan does that.

I am saying that your "right policy", my be my "wrong policy" and it will be resisted with every machinery available. acceptance is very important because even if a mistake is made, there will be opportunity to make amends. So, whether the subsidy removal was good or bad is not really the issue, the but of the resistance came from the west and the north. what does that tell you?

Corruption is over rated!
What is corruption?

When parents buy admission for their children, when our schools churn out illiterates as graduates, when we believe that all rich men are satanists and thieves, when mediocrity is celebrated at the expense of excellence (quota system, et al), when the North defends Boko Haram and the South South defends MEND. If Alhaji Tofa had won the 1993 elections, IBB would not had annulled or if he did, the North would had opposed him to a stand still. today, June 12 is only marked in the South West and you know why? Abiola is one of there own. These are the bedrocks of corruption! When you put a square peg in a round hole, what do you expect?

I remember that both late Okadigho and Naaba were accused of stealing money during OBJ, Okadigbo was disgraced out of office but the North stood behind Naaba and saved his seat.

To deny the ethnic and religious differences bedeviling Nigeria is to deny the truth.

Like I said earlier somewhere else, if Buhari had won this election, the Boko boys would had piped low while MEND would had been kicking like mad.

Something is fundamentally wrong with the system and to solve our problem, we need to address that.
Nobody told me any lies, my position is from my experience. there is no collective oneness in Nigeria.
There is no singularity of purpose. There is no nation ideology, there is no patriotism.

May be you are willing to change! I am willing to change, but how many are Nigerians willing to change?
I am a very lively, jovial and optimistic person, but I do not really have any optimism for dead horses.

Cheers.

Goodnews for Yoruba Nation

By Dapo Akinrefon

The Yoruba nation has been accepted as the 45th member of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation, UNPO, Banji Akintoye has said.

President of the Yoruba World Congress, YWC, Banji Akintoye, said this on Tuesday, noting that the latest development represented a very important step in the collective quest of Yoruba people to achieve the goal of dignity and self-determination.

UNPO, formed on February 11, 1991 in The Hague, Netherlands, is an international membership-based organisation established to empower the voices of unrepresented and marginalised peoples worldwide and to protect their fundamental human rights.

Members comprise indigenous peoples, minorities, unrecognised peoples or peoples of occupied territories.

Akintoye, in a statement, noted that the Yoruba-speaking nation membership was contained in a letter addressed to him through the YWC Coordinator for Europe by her Secretary-General, Ralph Bunche.

He said UNPO membership affords the Yoruba nation an opportunity to participate in advocacy training, worldwide cultural festivals, election monitoring/observation, and sports activities, among the unrepresented nations.

Akintoye said: “Some former members, such as Armenia, East Timor, Estonia, Latvia, Georgia and Palau have gained full independence and have joined the United Nations, UN, as full members.

“The peoples represented within the UNPO membership are all united by one shared condition: they are denied their equitable level of representation and voice in the institutions of the countries to which they currently belong and in international governance.

“As a consequence, their opportunity to participate on the national or international stage is limited and unfair, and they struggle against difficulties in their effort to realise their rights to civil and political participation and to control their own economic, social and cultural development.

“In many cases, they live under pressure of the worst forms of violence and repression, such as is being perpetrated by armed herdsmen and militias, as well as by terrorist Boko Haram, against many peoples of Nigeria, including our Yoruba nation.

“This violence and repression are being adroitly and surreptitiously supported by the government of Nigeria.

“In some cases, members of UNPO need serious help because they live in countries and under governments that actively resist their progress and destroy their achievements, as our Yoruba nation lives in Nigeria.

“The UNPO is able to address issues that often remain hidden because UNPO has the freedom to raise issues that others cannot raise due to political or funding constraints. Today, UNPO has more than 40 member-nations.”

Ngwakwe:
The quest for Oduduwa Republic is likened to a middle man out of Three People who bought three plots of Land parallel to each other but made no attempt to fence his own plot.

It was then observed that Oduduwa went and bought magnificent Gate waiting for Biafra to fence his plot on the right and Arewa to fence her plot on the left as to enable her install the magnificent gate - what a "wisdom".

The moral lesson is that Oduduwa strives when her neighbours are enemies and will never attempt self determination by her own struggle.

In summary, until Biafra secedes there will be no Oduduwa - Fact

Oh my God, so much wisdom and foresight in one post.
