Nigeria is the largest Black Nation in the world and the most populous country in Africa,the third largest military power,the second biggest economy,and the biggest oil producer (10th oil producer in the world).

In the 70s to early 80s, the Naira was higher than the united states dollar and exchange rate was around 90 kobo to $1. By the time President Ibrahim Babaginda’s left office in 1993, the Naira was exchanging for 17 Naira to $1. It was during this time that bureaux de change were introduced into the economy.Since then Naira has never topped United states dollars

A large part of West African economic activity is concentrated in Nigeria. About one out of two West Africans is from Nigeria.Nigeria played a central role in the ECOWAS efforts to end the civil wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone. and ECOWAS headquarters are based in Abuja.Nigeria is also the largest cereal and meat producer in West Africa.Oil remains the key economic sector.

18 of the top 20 West African Banks are based in Nigeria,The Nigerian movie industry has overtaken Hollywood and became the 2nd largest movie producer in 2009 (after India’s Bollywood).

Wole Soyinka was the first black person to win the Nobel prize of literature in 1986.The Yoruba people have the highest number of twins about 158 twins are born per 1 000 births.
