Austine1212:are you sure?? Okay, Kenya in operating on 4G internet, we were one of the first countries in Africa to implement that. As one of the most advanced countries in ICT sector in Africa, we approved google loon internet project which is currently on course. Barely two weeks from approval if am not wrong. The first two balloons arrived in the country's airspace in some week ago. (That will help increase 4g speed across the rural areas which can't stand 4G booster) Two other balloons, dubbed HBA092 and HBAL125, one of the fastest boosters are also expected in the country. According to space monitoring websites, StratoCat and Flightradar24, the internet balloons were launched in Puerto Rico in late January, where the balloon internet technology has successfully been deployed. “These balloons will carry 4G base stations and have the capacity to provide wider signal coverage. This will, therefore, enable Kenya to retain her competitive advantage in ICT and innovation during the current crisis,” The Star quoted President Uhuru Kenyatta, speaking during the approval of the project. This new technology seeks to provide faster internet connections, even to people in rural, seeing that the COVID-19 outbreak has sent most people working from home and students accessing e-learning materials., kenya an advanced country in that sector should be the leading example in Africa. If you don't know loon balloon. Loon balloons work by beaming Internet connectivity from ground stations to an overhead balloon. The signal is thereafter sent across multiple balloons, creating a network of floating cell towers that deliver connectivity directly to a user’s LTE-enabled device below. Loon is a project by Google’s parent company, Alphabet. It was launched in 2011 to bring connectivity to remote parts of the world by floating solar-powered networking gear over areas where cell towers would be too expensive to build. Loon has successfully been deployed in Peru and Puerto Rico, allowing cell networks to use balloons for free to supplant cell phone towers downed by natural disasters. 1 Like

South Africa and Botswana already have 5G. Which country in Africa will be next? Nigeria or kenya? Last November, the telecommunications company MTN carried out the first testing of 5G superfast mobile internet in Nigeria. In East Africa, Kenya's biggest telecom operator Safaricom announced last week that it will consider awarding a contract to China's Huawei as it rolls out its 5G network this year. Michael Joseph, chief executive of Safaricom, on Feb 19 said that despite huge demand for increased bandwidth and more speed in East Africa, the 5G services network can only be offered to customers in major cities where demand is highest. Adam Lane, senior director of public affairs for Huawei Southern Africa, said cost and lack of needed regulations to support the new technology hamper 5G rollout in the region. He said available spectrum is also limited. |

Danielnino00:Lemme use telkom as example. Do you know telkom is one of the least used line in kenya, people regard it as the poorest line in rural areas but guess what? Telkom 4G network has covered around 36towns(with their villages included) Take a look Which towns are covered by the Telkom Kenya 4G? Bungoma Busia Diani Eldoret Embu Kakamega Karatina Kericho Kiambu Kilifi Kisii Kisumu Kitale Kitengela Kitui Limuru Machakos Malindi Maseno Meru Mombasa Muranga Nairobi Naivasha Nakuru Nanyuki Narok Ngong Nyeri Ongata Rongai Thika Voi Safaricom is a different story, with its implementation of loom balloons that can survive in a hash environmental conditions(severe winds, very low and high temp e.t.c) furthermore, safaricom has an advancement of 4G - 4G+ Network. 1 Like

Austine1212:Which source is this surely? I guess it's wiki. Kenya is currently at position three after S.A and Madagascar, You guys overtook us some few years back, Madagascar moved to our place in position two after fixing under water fibre broadband in 2018. thanks to the underwater Eastern Africa Submarine Cable System that supplies the island’s urban centers with fiber broadband speeds, by the current loom balloon in kenya it is projected that kenya will surpass Madagascar on it. |

Austine1212:okay, I can't dispute this but do you know what? Some companies don't have to conduct survey in all country. For instance, you have posted a report for - OpenSignal, A company based in London that measures mobile network performance. They did survey in only 4countries(something funny, both are whites/Arabs decent nations) That site is a bs. |

BeforeJuly: You're both mentally colonised and cognitively challenged. Let someone else explain the obvious. You've inadvertently proved my case 120%! Old Africa unencumbered by false teachings of guilt and morality was a much less neurotic place than today. I only recently verified this anecdote of an early Kikuyu custom the name of which totally escapes me practiced maybe once or twice a year dating back thousands of years to the Egyptian days. It was a fertility ritual which means thinly disguised mating ritual. Unlike many others Kikuyu women were free to chose their own husbands. At dances they'd pick out their intended. There was another aspect of the tradition I first heard back in 91 from a 90+ yr old Ggrand uncle who died some 7 yrs ago when he'd have been at least 116. Apparently a couple would be chosen to perform which is to say eff in front of the gathering. Reason being what better way for brides to be to learn what goes where and how? Everyone was free to join in- passers by,brides and their intended, village mates, even perfect strangers were ALL encouraged to fully 'enjoy' each other. I recently read an anthropological account confirming this story but IIRC if it was LSB Leakey, Fr Cagnolo, Stoneham, Johnson or Franklin Tate; I'll supply the source as soon as I confirm. Point being? Don't project your foreign misconceptions onto Africans. |
