‘The Flash’ Actor Logan Williams Died of Fentanyl Overdose, His Mother Says

Logan Williams, a young actor who appeared on CW’s “The Flash,” died on April 2 at 16 years old, and his mother has revealed that his death was caused by a fentanyl overdose.

In an interview with the New York Post, Marlyse Williams announced that preliminary toxicology results showed that Logan overdosed on the opioid. She also said that he struggled with his addiction for three years.

Marlyse Williams explained that Logan started acting when he was 9 years old, but eventually took a break when he was 13 due to the stressful auditioning process. It was around that time she found out he was using marijuana. From there, he escalated to doing other drugs, but she doesn’t know when he started using fentanyl.

“[He] was in complete denial because he was so ashamed,” she said.

To help her son’s drug problem, she remortgaged her house in order to send him to a treatment center in the U.S. and one in British Columbia, Canada. The young actor had been living in a group home as well.

“I did everything humanly possible, everything a mother could do,” she said. “I did everything but handcuff him to me to try to keep him safe.”

Now, she’s hoping his death can help raise awareness for opioid addiction and convince other people struggling to ask for help.

“His death is not going to be in vain,” she said. “He’s going to help a lot of people down the road.”

Logan Williams played a young version of the Flash in several episodes of the CW show’s first two seasons. He also appeared in “Supernatural,” “The Whispers” and “When Calls the Heart.” “Flash” star Grant Gustin posted a tribute to the young actor after learning about his death.

“I was so impressed by not only Logan’s talent but his professionalism on set,” Gustin said on Instagram. “My thoughts and prayers will be with him and his family during what is I’m sure an unimaginably difficult time for them.”

She then revealed that Williams' drug use escalated to other drugs and she had to remortgaged their home to help Logan enter two expensive rehabilitation centers. But before his death, he was living in a group home.

"I did everything but handcuff him to me to try to keep him safe."The family had kept his addiction "under wraps" as Logan wanted to continue a career in entertainment."Logan was always hoping to get back into acting, music or whatever future he wanted," she said. "We didn't want people to know because of the judgment, because of the embarrassment, because of the criticism. We wanted it to go away."



Four days after Logan told his mom he was going to get clean at a family dinner, he passed away.



"I just know the last thing we said to each other was, 'I love you,'" she revealed.



Marlyse said her heart broke after hearing singer Melissa Etheridge on Wednesday announced the death of her 21-year-old son, Beckett, who died from an opioid overdose. "My heart breaks for her because I know the initial devastation of knowing your beautiful boy is gone.



Unfortunately, I can relate. We are in this horrible club. A club you don’t want to be a member of."



For speaking out about her son's battle, Marlyse Williams added that she hopes it can help in creating "a legacy out of this tragedy" and “create awareness or help one or five or 100 people to somehow heal and get help."



"Every night I put a candle by the window. I just want Logan to know that he’s always welcome to come back home,” she said. “When he was alive I’d always leave the light on [for] if he’d come home. I leave the light on so he knows I’m here for him."

some kids are not fully emotionally grown at 13 to be using marijuana, let alone fentanyl at 16yrs old. no matter how hard this must be, the mother should take part of the blame for this tragedy. your kids shouldnt be anywhere near marijuana at 13yrs old, and if he was then she probably should have handcuffed him until he get help (instead of trying to pretend that everything was ok to the world, while it certainly wasnt). since he was 13, he should have been under extra supervision and be done with any acting etc....

they were so focused on pretending that everything was ok and not letting people know what was going on, that it made it easier for that child to upgrade his drug taking to fentanyl... at 16!!!!! see how these white kids are dying from opioid overdose... failed parenting of the highest order!

Even God said it that the Demon reside in the heart of children so u have to use cane to chase that demon away, imagine a child taking drug since 13yrs of age...

Now, is that a failed parenting or misplaced priority from the kid.
