The legislator representing Oshodi at the National Assembly Hall was a US based medical doctor with over 20 years experience. When he got his certificate of returns from INEC the first person he took the certificate to for endorse was to the leader of the transport Union.


Lavos need to get in right with transportation, if the sector wants to attract good funding and solve the current problems

Before the coming of GSM about 20 years, Telecoms was a major problem in Nigeria. But when Obasanjo opened up the sector, Telecoms attracted Investors and funding, government also made money. Telecoms gave multiplier effects to the entertainment, advertising sector.


I did a research based on the share capitalisation history of MTN and I found out that an investment of N1 million made on the shares of MTN shares by the pioneer Investors when the company came into Nigeria about 20 years ago. The investment has grown to over N500 million and the Investor will collect a final dividend of over N20 millon tomorrow being the payment date, after collecting an interim dividend of N10 million about 6 months ago


This type of returns can only be made in a problematic sector that was opened up by government and then attracted the required fundings

Because MTN Nigeria grew from less than 1 million lines about 20 years ago to over 60 million lines at the end 2019.

This type of returns beat inflation and currency devaluation.

When Fashola was Governor, there was a day he went to commission a project and was accosted by touts that he should dash them money. Fashola required for their tax clearance to show proof they pay tax before he gives them anything. They grumbled and left.

Subsequently, Fashola gathered those touts together and established what is called "Waste Police" under Lawma. They were charged with arresting those who dispose waste in indiscriminate places. Anyone who they found refuse in areas under his supervision would be dismissed. Do you know that those touts were staying awake at night preventing people from throwing refuse so as not to be sacked

When they asked Fashola about getting motorised street sweepers, he said that it's not just about waste removal but empowering those elderly women.

So, there are a lot of political consequences of such a decision as this. Visionscape was brought on board to try something similar but it failed due to a lot of factors with vested interests, politics and political patronage being the most prominent.

Politics is no. 1 in Lagos, every other thing follows. Its unfortunate.
