Trade Union should be optional. Who regulates and audits the various bodies in the transportation sectors

Government needs to remove all the bottle necks in this sector so that the sector can attract necessary funding and also make it attractive for corporate Nigeria to come into the sector.

Different business will bid for major routes, have a minimum of 500 buses in your fleet, must be a limited liability company, no union or anybody will harrass the buses of the company, they will pay taxes to government and also pay an annual route license renewal fees of about N100 million or above

There is something similar to this on the Island. I mean from Obalende to Epe. It is a private company handling commercial transportation on that route and all passenger buses must register. There are no touts at the several bus stops from Obalende up to Ajah. Even at Ajah, the touts there are those from the Oshodi unit loading buses going to Oshodi.

The unions control the boys who we see as thugs but the government sees as party stalwarts. I heard of an agbero who a job for a Medical doctor with Lagos state.

Transportation in Lagos is more political than economic. That's why Obasanjo came to campaign in Lagos in 2003 but his supporters couldn't get vehicles to attend the rally. Commercial vehicles 'mysteriously' didn't work that day. grin

Tinubu's relative has something like that. Primero Transport it plies from Ikorodu to Mile 12, Maryland, Fadeyi, Costain and TBS. The company has about 400 buses in its fleet.

Another company can have the license from Sango Otta to Iyana Ipaja, Oshodi route.

Badagry to Mile 2 is another route.

When the operators are corporate citizens with eminent Nigerians as the shareholders, who pay taxes and license fees to government, touts and miscreants wouldn't be able to make unnecessary financial demands from them

The legislator representing Oshodi at the National Assembly Hall was a US based medical doctor with over 20 years experience. When he got his certificate of returns from INEC the first person he took the certificate to for endorse was to the leader of the transport Union.

Lavos need to get in right with transportation, if the sector wants to attract good funding and solve the current problems

Before the coming of GSM about 20 years, Telecoms was a major problem in Nigeria. But when Obasanjo opened up the sector, Telecoms attracted Investors and funding, government also made money. Telecoms gave multiplier effects to the entertainment, advertising sector.

I did a research based on the share capitalisation history of MTN and I found out that an investment of N1 million made on the shares of MTN shares by the pioneer Investors when the company came into Nigeria about 20 years ago. The investment has grown to over N500 million and the Investor will collect a final dividend of over N20 millon tomorrow being the payment date, after collecting an interim dividend of N10 million about 6 months ago

This type of returns can only be made in a problematic sector that was opened up by government and then attracted the required fundings

Because MTN Nigeria grew from less than 1 million lines about 20 years ago to over 60 million lines at the end 2019.

MTN Nigeria grew from no profit about 20 years ago to over N200 billion at the end of 2019.

This type of returns beat inflation and currency devaluation.

Maybe if Lagos State government should introduce tax of about N5000 per vehicle per day, for any vehicle that comes into Lagos island, Victoria Island, Ikoyi and Lekki maybe it will reduce the volume of traffic in the area.

People will then embrace public transportation when going to such places. After all our politicians make use of public transportation when they are out of the country

When the operators are corporate citizens with eminent Nigerians as the shareholders, who pay taxes and license fees to government, touts and miscreants wouldn't be able to make unnecessary financial demands from them

When Fashola was Governor, there was a day he went to commission a project and was accosted by touts that he should dash them money. Fashola required for their tax clearance to show proof they pay tax before he gives them anything. They grumbled and left.

Subsequently, Fashola gathered those touts together and established what is called "Waste Police" under Lawma. They were charged with arresting those who dispose waste in indiscriminate places. Anyone who they found refuse in areas under his supervision would be dismissed. Do you know that those touts were staying awake at night preventing people from throwing refuse so as not to be sacked

When they asked Fashola about getting motorised street sweepers, he said that it's not just about waste removal but empowering those elderly women.

So, there are a lot of political consequences of such a decision as this. Visionscape was brought on board to try something similar but it failed due to a lot of factors with vested interests, politics and political patronage being the most prominent.

Politics is no. 1 in Lagos, every other thing follows. Its unfortunate.

Nawa ooo
The rate the thread moves eh.... was shocked to realise that about 40 pages have added from my last visit on saturday...
Interesting i must say
The exchange of knowledge/ideas (argument) was educating... for me, just be comfortable wherever you are even if na Rwanda you reside...just be okay (rich)

In between, we must note quote someone's long epistle, just a part of the post can be quoted... makes the thread short and easier to scan/run through ...

Double tuwale to the gurus in the house...

Thanks for highlighting this. When this COVID issue started i told many people around me that they should watch Nigeria, she will manage this well and come out OK. It wont get destroyed like the CNN and the western world predicted death-wise.

I guess The OP has bought so much into the western propaganda to the extent of being dissapointed for not seeing dead bodies littering his/her country. Black man, such a sad story.

You are confusing the jam packed capital towns in Europe like London which Europeans themselves hate to the real Europe which is rural like Ibadan, where everyone especially young university students drive almost brand new cars.

I'm not surprised because most immigrants live in jam packed cities hard to grasp the totality of things

Must it be Canada or west? He will also make good money working in South Korea or Japan and can use his pay to do export from those countries if he is business oriented.

What's this your brother's qualification? This will be needed by someone that wants to proffer genuine solution.

If he has BSc. You people can go the express entry route.

You people can ask him why he likes Canada. Hope it's not because of the current hype about that country?

I have a family member like that sha. He would be 40 this year, not married, has refused to engage in every business suggested to him. He is only fixated on moving out of the country.

Oga why shouldn’t he evade tax ?

Pay tax in USA and you see it with good roads and a system that is working, pay tax in Nigeria and you just got another minister richer.

And those expatriates will definitely love Nigeria cause of the preferential treatment they get for being White, Trust me you won’t get that treatment if you leave your state and move to another state to work in this same Nigeria.

The truth is that Nigeria is a bad place, a very bad place especially for Nigerians and we need to start seeing it for what it is and stop lying to ourselves abeg.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Nigeria is a useless place. Argue with your politicians!!!

Have you heard about cfx. This cfx pay every day after trading. The amount paid depends on the amount invested and the daily pay after trade is not fix it depends on the profit made.

Note, you earn in dollar.
You can withdraw every Saturday into your btc coin wallet. That is the beauty of it.

The least amount you can invest is 300 dollars in Bitcoin. You are at liberty to leave anytime you wish. Have been with them for five weeks now trading is mon-fri. You can attend the live webiner holding every day to learn more sure you won't regret it. The best way to earn now should be in dollar.

Barry, go under bridges and see so many sane people, mothers included, with their kids sleeping there. This is a failed country. Africa in general is a failed continent. I'm not proud to call myself a Nigerian. And if you are, I wonder what about Nigeria makes you proud. Let's call a spade a spade.

This one has offed me

The lagos issue is about population density, a city with such density should be growing upwards but the cost and challenges of real estate investment make that near impossible.
