One of the first official statements of governor Hope was on the need to asphalt the long abandoned urban roads of Orlu and Okigwe. Hopefully he shall do them soon. Provided those who believe that a state was created for development of only the state capital shall not declare him enemy when he starts to do Orlu and Okigwe urban roads. Many urban roads in Owerri had been asphalted three or more times since Imo state was created, while the urban roads of Orlu that existed same time with those of Owerri are yer to see asphalt.

He is still mentioning Orlu when he has not answered my question. Bia nwoke a kee odika mmadu I wu? Stop mentioning Orlu here. Gov. Hope knows the right thing to do. Your lamentation is not needed.

You claimed to come from Orlu while you can not respond me immediately, so you have not finished searching for Orlu online? Thank God most of the things I wrote can not been seen online.

You said Bishop shanaghan polytechnic does not exist in Orlu, Lol I'm laughing in kafanchan. My fellow Orlu man!!!
I won't say anything until you respond to my write-up.

Hope nairalanders can see us now? I know you may like to cover yourself up claiming that you don't want to respond me.

B2mario,
Go and ask anyone from Orlu:

1) public water supply system existed in Orlu before Imo state was created. The tall and huge water overhead tank is in between Amaifeke and Owerrebeiri. Orlu was not like your rural village before Imo state was created.

2) Orlu township stadium existed long before the civil war. It was not walled then but started to be fenced after the civil war. Soldiers with koboko from Nigeria Army’s 20 Battalion Orlu used to guard round the fence of Orlu township stadium each time matches were played in the stadium. The soldiers would flog anyone who tried to force himself through the fence into the stadium.
Udenwa government merely added much more value to the stadium. Ask anyone from Orlu born before Imo state was created.

Orlu could have developed more than Owerri if former governor Evan Enwrem had built the new water supply project earmarked for Orlu zone by Mbakwe; if a tertiary education institution had been established in Orlu.

Whoever is from Orlu who reads what you write about Orlu knows that you are not from Orlu urban local government area.

Orlu Township Stadium was in existence more than 50 years ago. Udenwa govt merely got VAST Construction company which modified it and put more seats and floodlights.

Rochas your mentor dismantled the stadium, after much outcry, he put another roof. But the stadium in shambles.
He built another one but also not completed.

Bishop Shanahan Polytechnic does not exist inOrlu.
Unless Eastern Palm University is converted to a full government university, there is no government university in the whole of Orlu zone which deserves a government university. IMSUTH is a hospital with less than 350 students that mostly come from Owerri to Orlu for practicals.
Orlu and Owerri on near levels of urban development when Imo state was created in 1976: Electricity and pipe borne water supply system existed in Orlu as they existed in Owerri before Imo state was created in 1976.
Why are you proud that since Imo state was created, pipe borne water stopped to exist in Orlu but remains in Owerri?

More than fifty urban roads in Orlu built during the 1970s have not seen asphalt, though houses have been built fully on both sides of the roads. Rochas did eyeservice enlargement of one major road in Orlu - Ihioma road with a short stretch of Amaigbo road, and three other short roads - all total less than 5 km.

Immigration Training School Orlu which you have your eyes on and which you said was supposed to have been in Owerri because Owerri is state capital, take note that Imigration Training School is federal government owned and had since been in the official gazette as located in Orlu. You are most stupid with your mindset of every govt project must be in state capital.

Whether like it or not.. Government would always focus Infrastructure on capital cities than other urban areas, that's the sane thing to do. Especially where there's scarcity of resources

Nigeria’s government does not focus on developing only Abuja under any circumstance. If Owerri is abandoned by government of Nigeria for one year, development in Owerri shall crumble n less than six months, but the way IMSG abandoned Orlu since Imo state was created, Orlu is shrinking, no water supply, no tertiary education institution.

No matter how scarce resources go down, Nigeria’s government will still distribute federal allocations to all the states and local government areas for development purposes.

In Imo state, people like you made an unwritten law: “IMSG must first develop Owerri state capital.’ Since the unwritten law, Owerri has expanded beyond what you bargained for and into the rural villages and communities in Owerri zone. Government concentration on development of Owerri makes Orlu depopulated and shrinking, because governors build almost all yearly infrastructures in Owerri to match the growing population and expanding Owerri.

Enough of that your mindset of state capital must be first developed by government.
London is the capital of the UK. But London did not first develop before Birmingham, Manchester, Coventry, Glasgow etc.

Washington DC is the capital of USA but is not developed by government first before other US cities. Many US state capitals are less developed than other cities in the same state.

In wealthy imolites eyes, imo state is unfit for serious investment.

For billionaires to establish industries all over Imo state, enabling facilities like security, good inter local government areas and interstate roads, public water supply system, have to be in place.

Successive governors of Imo state build boulevards and street lights in Owerri.
Hotel entrepreneurs build hotels as they cash in on the young flesh of about 200,000 girls - and boys- in the six government universities and polytechnics seized by Owerri

Will Imo billionaires establish their industries in the same Owerri where successive governors of Imo state are literally coerced by some ignorant people in the state to “first develop state capital?

Governor Mbakwe acquired industrial layouts in Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe. Mbakwe left, new Imo state became an affair of only Owerri.

Mbakwe provided for or started modern water supply projects in Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe zones.
Aba, Umuahia and Orlu were the three official industrial hubs of old Imo state under Mbakwe.

What about Bishop shanaghan polytechnic Orlu, Eastern Palm University Ogboko, Technical skill acquisition institute (TESAI) Orlu, Immigration training school Umuowa, School of nursing Amaigbo, School of nursing and midwifery Ogboko, school of nursing and health technology Okporo and Hezekiah University Umudi Nkwerre?

Imo state is trying to spread development across it's sphere. Stop saying nonsense Oga. You've made people to see Imo as a state where all her developments concentrated only on Owerri. Okigwe as the 3rd largest town has an NTA station, a stadium and many good hotels.
All the LGAs of the state have a general hospital though not yet equipped, Ngor Okpala/Mbaise has the Imo international cargo airport, Ohaji/Egbema has many oil and gas industries and Imo polytechnic Umuagwo, Oru west has the Ama breweries Awo-mmama, Oguta has so many Imo state tourist centers and roads spread across many rural communities.

What again do you want? You want Rivers State government to abandon portharcourt and concentrate her development in Oyigbo or Omoku or you want Enugu state government to leave Enugu city and concentrate her development in Nsukka or Oji river.

Please leave our Orlu and Imo state alone, you are not doing us any good rather more harm.

Former governor Ihedioha cancelled all tertiary education institutions, including Bishop Shanahan Polytechnic.

Bishop Shanahan Polytechnic does not exist anywhere in Orlu. It was one of those phantom polytechnics and universities hurriedly pronounced by Okorocha govt during the last days of his administration. Okorocha wanted to own Eastern palm university private, thus he concentrated his government development in Owerri to please Owerri to support him for third term and make him own Eastern Palm University private.

When he saw that Owerri refused to support his third term bid, he quickly declared many universities and polytechnics mostly in Orlu zone. Okorocha declared one university in Nkwere, declared Imo Poly Umuagwo a University.

Ihedioha govt committee advised that all those new universities and Polytechnic be closed, but IMSU be extended to Ogboko’s Eastern Palm University.

Ihedioha closed all the new universities and the polytechnics pronounced by Okorocha govt, including so called Bishop Shanahan Polytechnic, but went for expanding IMSU in Owerri.

can you listen to yourself? So Okorocha used just few days and hurriedly built gigantic blocks and termed them Universities and polytechnics? Those institutions took his government more than 5yrs. He started most in his 1st tenure. Please, stop misinforming people here. I knew when they were started just that I don't have pictures here I would have posted them then you and everyone here reading judge if such blocks could be built within months.

Bro., for the fact that the blocks are still existing the universities are existing too. Everybody knows that Ihedioha was too myopic and that was why they all joined hands and removed him through supreme court. All the higher institutions met the merits and were accredited by NUC. Ihedioha with his myopic thinking closed almost all of them thinking that he was fighting Rochas, with the aim of erasing Rochas' name from the history of Imo state. Not only in Orlu zone he did display his madness even in Owerri city and zone, he destroyed so many things in Owerri, he attempted pulling down Akachi tower and the various status in Heroes' square. Don't mention Ihedioha here, you and I know that he was a curse to imo state.

Today where is he? God is at work, Akachi di ya. Soon, Uzodimma will reopen those higher institutions. But that's by the way. If Bishop shanaghan polytechnic is no longer existing it will still go back to it's initial status, i.e, Imopoly Orlu campus or the person that is feeding you information about Orlu did not tell you?

Stop saying that there's no higher institution in Orlu, it's a pure lie. And stop speaking on our behalf, nobody appointed you our mouthpiece.

We are talking about the universities and polytechnics declared by former governor Okorocha during the last 3 or 4 months of his administration. There was none declared then at Okporo. Instead, a sign board reading: Imo state university Orlu, was placed during that period by Okorocha government at the site of the school of Hygiene at Okporo.
