I think the opera pop up notification is part of uninstall residue from the opera apps I used to have. Funny thing is even after installing the latest versions of the apps I still get the notification to update the apps.
The only solution I can fathom is doing a factory reset of my phone, which I do not want to do... Yet!

Bro do you use an Airtel line? It appears on my Note 8 as well and I don't have opera mini installed on my phone sef. It's a network message. It has nothing to do with your OS.

I have both AIRTEL and MTN line in the phone. I'm not bothered by it though.

Yes it's me again, I now understand what you've been talking about. It happened on my wife's rn8 Pro and I think it was from mtn (not really sure cos she also had Airtel on the phone).
What you'll do is wait for the pop up, pull down your notification bar, tap and hold on the pop up until a drop down appears with a "settings" option and then you select "don't receive notifications from this site" or something like that. Click "OK" and you are good to go. I had to do it on several such annoying pop-ups before it finally stopped.
Therein lies your solution. smiley

It doesn't show on the notification bar. It just pops on the screen
