Correct to a certain extent but on the flip side some players know nothing about football too.

Are the fans not stakeholders? What is there to know that is not known? If a big fan who sits in a box, every game day, speak, will he say that one knows nothing too? Go to a viewing centre and you will know the average football fan knows nothing. There are some of them on this thread as well but I don't agree entirely with his comment.

He is right in a way. Most football fans are ignorant and know next to nothing about the tactical aspects of the game. The average football fan is only quick to criticize and point out mistakes. It's easy to sit in a chair and say this and that but out there on the pitch, it's a different thing entirely. Just look at Gary Neville and Henry and how their coaching careers ended just as soon as it started.

But saying the fans know nothing about football is condescending and disrespectful. They may not have coaching badges but they are not outrightly clueless. They can see when things are not going right and as fans, they have a right to voice their opinions.

I don't think he literally means "nothing". An average Football fans know the basics at best and their way of evaluating players, matches, tactics etc are almost always different from managers'. Till you step into the pitch and knows how footbal tactics and training sessions work, then it's true we know anything bar the basics.
