I get your point profambem. Python is the easiest programming language but not a walk in the park. Basic python yes but when you go documentation of the various tools and libraries(numpy, sklearn, pandas, then move to machine learning).you would agree that It takes constant practice and continuous development to be proficient and able to solve use cases.
It's not a walk in the park. Someone told me that Python na beans, I just laughed. After she watched the tutorials, she couldn't even write a line of code. I believe that with hardwork, intelligence and diligence, you can achieve this. Keras, Tensorflow framework, etc can all be learned and mastered if one is very serious about it. People approach programming as something that you can do for 2hrs a day and be good, but na lie, you must love it and dream about it.

Beggar's job!!! Yet these same people saying such trash will litter this forum and the entire social media with their account details, begging shamelessly!!!...

This is why I ignore most beggars... I hate hypocrisy and pretence!!!... You feel too big to do honest paying work, but feel or believe people are supposed to dash you money. Rubbish!!!

Mr. Op, read up the success stories of most great men. A lot of them had humbler beginnings than you... I know successful billionaires abroad that started off driving taxis... Vin Diesel, the great action actor, started as a bouncer and bodyguard to even young actors... Ice Prince, M.I Abaga and his brother squatted with Djinee when they first came to Lagos... Basketmouth slept under the Bridge....

This my thread is just mainly for single men and guys outside there and I would like to share my experience with you guys on what I have undergone and experienced as a Security guard.

To be a security guard is not a job I can advise my enemy to opt for let alone my friend or relation. The job is a regardless one and very disgusting.

As a security guard, you are more or less a beggar in the street, should I say beggar has a little regard more than you.

When people see you, they see nothing in you. Most especially when you're trying to speak to them in English making them to know that you're educated...(laugh..) You just did it wrong, to them it means you are having mental problem.

The image impression of 98% of people on guys who do this job to hustle for their lives rather than involving in criminal practices is that they have no future; is that they cannot make it in their lives; e.t.c.

Since I've started this job when I finished my program in the polytechnic, any lady I made to know about the job I do turns me off later, some said it's a beggars' work.

And currently, I hardly have female friends not to talk of girlfriends or marriage.

Though, I didn't mean to start this job before if not condition, but now I'm planning to quit the job and find another.

Sometimes, I cried in my room, begging God to show me another way.

One of the workers in the place of work that I'm guiding once told me that his dog is better off than me. This is even the person that cannot even compose simple correct English, he said his dog is better than me.

Your experience too is allowed... Thank you.
Oga the problem is you live in a 3rd world shithole where people dont respect hardwork. To be hard working is seen as suffering. Its ignorance that makes them look down on you. I respect a hard working man any day to one idiot who drives fancy cars and cant tell me what he does for a living in 2 sentences

Mine wasn't a security guard but something very similar to that...When I got off from school (actually just this year), I decided to take up a job close to our house and wait for NYSC call up... It's very surprising how people treat butlers in this country. Within days my identity was lost into the tin air, people only called me, "Hey, Idiot, my friend?, Bia barman etc" regardless of the name tagged on my shirt.... And when someone manages to give you a tip, the person expects you to kneel down and thank him or walk before him and open the door for him...Well, it can't entirely be called an awful experience because you get to meet different people with different personality everyday. And also you get to see people walk into the bar with angry lines cut across their faces but leaves you later in the day smiling or laughing so hard..There is some feeling of accomplishment in that.."Liquor is the ultimate happiness "

Facing the same thing here. Nigerians don't value security starting from army police etc not to talk of an ordinary a security guard. I remember 2015 at least meridian port Harcourt when an ashawo girl from casabranka insulted our supervisor Mr. Robinson for trying to ask interrogate her while she was going inside to meet one of her client. This call girl rained insults on the security, "common security, you go die for security work". Next day the guy drop uniform that he won't work again, now he is in South Africa with his sister.
But here in Nigeria a graduate will run to Dubai, Oman or Malaysia to do a security guard job there because there they earn up to 500k a month more than a bank manager here in Nigeria.

Stop posting nonsense!

Whereever you find yourself. Master the Art and own your environment.

People are always watching. Some people are in canada/USA courtesy of people/customers they helped carry their luggages into the hotel while they were working as Security Officers.

Try to be different in whatever Job and position you find yourself. Iron your uniforms, give to tailors to make it look fit on you abd make you looks Smarter than your colleagues.

Finally put on a better Perfume whenecer you are working.

People are Recording and Watching you.

I don’t think it’s “rubbish” . People only act the way they know; atleast he brought his ignorance here to be corrected.
You took your challenge well and made the most of it doesn’t mean someone else has the same mind you have or the mental strength to surmount those challenges without asking for help.

The countries you mentioned have a different perception of such jobs because their socio-economic setting is well planned. In Nigeria mechanic sef no get level for most people eye...for yankee to sabi repair car na great job cos it’s well packaged and sold.
The problem is the self respect we don’t have and how we reflect it to others especially those we think we are better than. We don’t have a culture of appreciation for social structure. We only respect people we perceive are doing better than us. Anybody at our service is below us.

my brother, consider the reasonable advice fellow nigeriand has given you. And ignore the unreasonable advice also the unreasonable people who look down on you.

A life without a plan always full of regrets. What was your plans when taking the job? If you had one work towards it, if you had none, develop one. Never neglect little beginning. Life changes in a day for those who are willing to pay the price now.

Finally, having a skill can help build your self esteem and make you become you own boss. But PLAN! THINK!

Exactly. Those jobs are valued outside. Our social value system is non existent . “Ordinary cab driver” is the person transporting idiots from point A to point B , without him they will be flying bus o, but he is “ordinary” because he is at their service.

We have no value system. We only respect people that oppress us with their affluence.
Once we feel say we better pass person automatically disrespect dun enter equation.

If it is the issue of girls not liking you, then stop telling them directly you're an ordinary security man. Tell them you work undercover for Nigeria secret force. Many Nigerian girls No get time to search if there is anything like that or not grin

To the issue of people looking down on you? I tell you it is normal. It is a phase that i believe some of the great men of this modern era have passed through. Try and ignore some hurtful words from people and always believe that Job is temporary. Save little you can each month and move out when you think your savings is enough to start something else.

I have noted that any job that is well underpaid in Nigeria, people tend to undermine people that do those jobs.

Also as labour is very cheap in Nigeria, that is why jobs as security guard, nursing, mechanic, carers (which is an ESSENTIAL job) are downplayed.

From being a security, you can grow your own security company and employ people, it is all about using you opportunity now to network, cos you have more chances to network with the owners of the company.

I know someone, who studied up to PHD level, used to be a security guard and now owns his security firm.

You can do anything in this world only if you want to, but the most important thing is NEVER give in to what people say or think about what you do or who you are. PERIOD

Not all security guard jobs are bad; not in Nigeria anyway. I would suggest that you do your job diligently and you never know who you will meet in the course of your duty.

Be courteous, dress neatly and never miss the opportunity to show you have more to offer.

Many many years ago, I was a security guard. For me, it was a means to an end. I achieved my goal at the end.
