Acadavah: Bulldozing” the media Tanzania has become increasingly authoritarian since John Magufuli’s election as president in 2015. None of the 180 countries ranked in RSF’s World Press Freedom Index has suffered such a precipitous decline in recent years. Nicknamed the “Bulldozer,” Magufuli tolerates no criticism of himself or his policies. Erick Kabendera, an investigative reporter, paid a high price for his articles criticizing the economy, the government and corruption, spending a total of seven months in prison following his arrest in July 2019. The charges brought against him changed three times, with one hearing after another being held without any examination of the substance of the case against him because the prosecution kept on requesting more time for further investigation. The justice system’s inability to stand up to the prosecutors sent a chilling message to journalists – that nothing protects them against the executive any more in Tanzania. Three web TVs and a leading daily newspaper were the victims of arbitrary closures in 2019. By closing a total of 15 media outlets in the past four years and by constantly threatening to withhold state advertising from privately-owned media, the government has imposed a climate of fear in which self-censorship is growing. In 2017, the president openly defended a governor who had stormed into a privately-owned radio station accompanied by policemen and forced it to broadcast a recording incriminating one of his opponents. https://rsf.org/en/tanzania 3 Likes |

Acadavah: Malnutrition affects children’s physical development. The rate of stunting in Tanzania ranks third in sub-Saharan Africa, after Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Many of the most commonly eaten foods in Tanzania, such as potatoes and cassava, are inexpensive but lack essential nutrients. Some schools in Tanzania now hold nutrition classes for students in hopes of reducing malnutrition. On average, women in Tanzania will have five children. Slowing fast population growth and the high fertility rate by empowering women through education support and family planning services is key to reducing poverty in Tanzania. Poverty is highest in rural areas, with around 80 percent of the country’s poor living in those regions. Poverty is also highest among female-headed households, particularly those that depend on livestock or food-crop production for their livelihood. Young girls and women in Tanzania often suffer from more nutritional deficiencies than men. One-third of women are deficient in iron, iodine, and vitamin A and two-fifths are I guess you don't know about these facts cos your media won't tell you https://borgenproject.org/10-facts-about-poverty-in-tanzania/ 3 Likes |

rvp20182:This is not about us zombie This is about how 5 million Kenyans are going hungry. our food import billion is just 1 billion dollars, lower than our food export. Now you are back to screaming over your voice Keep yourself in check so you dont explode. It is just a matter of policy change. Today, Ghana is building a 1 billion dollars irrigation dam in the North of Ghana to solve to solve the Irrigation problems in that irrid region of Ghana. Even without that dam, The people of Northern Ghana manage to produce 60% of Ghana food needs. This is why you didn't see Ghana on that map, labelled as a country going hungry. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Saddamochieng00: Even tourism, we usually earn more than you guys in it. We don't need to brag of anything but the successes of our citizens and how better they have it in life. That is why it is an eyesore to see Kenya sit on arable land while 5 million Kenyans go hungry. Our cities are highly developed unlike you guys in East Africa who cant even supply basic water to just the small number of people in your capitals let alone the whole country. 2 Likes 1 Share |

One Nigeria earn more than kenya in tourism and likewise Ghana. Our tourists spends more money per head than those who go to Kenya. The tourists come back to live for years here. Unlike the Zombieland of Kenya where they are driven away because of the level of hunger. For how long will kenya be dependent on UNICEF, WFP and Chinese food aid ? 60% and you're here shouting daily. We have about a 10-20% food deficit. If Ghana did not have such wasteful expenditure like 1B dollars plus going to rice - you would have something to show for 9B dollars of Gold annually. South Africa was built through Mining Proceeds. Not white magic. Just30: 2 Likes |

rvp20182:Northern Ghana is not the only place that produce food for Ghana. Southern Ghana produces the rest. Our rice import is 300 million dollars while our entire food import is 1 Billion. Ghana is not the subject of the Hunger games discussion Kenya that cant produce food for itself is the subject of discussion. Borrowing everywhere while 5 million kenyans go hungry yearly. Ghana has built a successfully resilient society where all it people prosper and not go hungry. 1 Like |

Hobbit, Ghana spent $1.1 billion alone on rice importation last year, according to statistics available to the country's Trade ministry. Deputy Trade Minister Robert Ahomka Lindsay who revealed this says “importation of rice takes 82% of all imports into the country”.Nov 12, 2018 Just30: 2 Likes |

We are doing fine agriculture wise. We produce 40m bags of maize against the consumption of 45M. We produce 40M bags of Wheat - Nigeria and Ghana zero. You produce nearly zero sugar. Nearly zero barley. Name it. We lead in horticulture, dairy, tea, Coffee, name it. Your stone-age agriculture powered by HOE is nothing to compare us with it. Yes, we have no plan to produce cassava or yams or such food that modernity will confine to the dustbin. You want us to dedicate our scarce land and scarce water to plant sorghum, millet and yams . Kenya is a free economy - the people decide if they want to plant capsicums or yams. French beans or cowpeas. Danielnino00: 1 Like |

rvp20182:you keep shouting and making noise Ghana import 580,300 metric tonnes of rice and produce between 600,000 to 800,000 metrice tonnes of rice Our total rice consumption is 1.3 million metric tonnes. Pick the most expensive cost of rice per metric tonnes and you will realise Ghana rice import cost 300 million dollars and in bad farming years 400 million. Lindsay Ahomka bundled up numbers just to have something for the media. Our total food import used to be 2.4 billion dollars Now it is 1 billion dollars at best and 1.2 billion dollars at worse. 2 Likes 2 Shares |
