It has not happened because we have spent years with a coach who has insisted on holding the team back with mostly negative play. You can not eat your cake and have it.

You mean we should dump a coach who gets results for a coach who will fail in the next couple of years for a dream which may not be realised?

Nice grin

tell me teams that have dominated Liverpool in term of possesion this season

I wonder why they are debating this. If you give Klopp a game of 90 minutes. Most times he will dominate the game for 60-70 minutes or even more. You can not tag that coach conservative in anyway.

When it is time for us to grow, we will plan and move forward. For now, let us be looking for results.

No one said failed in a couple of years but win some lose some. Just as Rohr is doing now but the team will move forward. Your talking as if Rohr has won every game he has coached.

Pep was clearly referring to Klopp's style of 'attacking' without the ball or pressing

Even Liverpool's fans know that Klopp is a counter attacking coach
Definitely not me..
You are alone on that insane view.
Klopp teams are always on the front foot no matter the team they face..
That Liverpool are the amongst the best at counterattacking at speed doesn't mean they are not an attacking team....

Argentina will always have the attacking edge over us, we will always be on the back foot against them and depend on the counter[/quote

go and re watch the friendly match if Nigeria had attack Argentina like that in the world it would have been an absolute different scenario

Amunike and Finidi are better coaches than Yobo will ever be but being homegrown and playing under Westerhorf does not have any relevance to the Nigerian coaching job

How did you come to that very hasty conclusion.

Atleast Siasia failed to qualify us for the Afcon

It is not about strength but about philosophy, that Norwich meets Liverpool and has less possession does not make them a less attacking based team

Liverpool dominated Barca because there was a gulf in quality and determination, doesn't change the philosophy of both sides

So how can a coach who can meet and dominate Barcelona in a match be termed a counter attacking coach in any way.

That's why l asked what are the qualities required to be a deserving coach in the SE.

He did not start and never given enough time. That is what I call a short term plan.

In a long term plan, the team will keep improving with time. You can see a team that did not qualify in a year or two, dominating some of the best teams in the World. Qualifying and having a mediocre Afcon, then the team is not being believed to be good of anything great is not growth to me.

Guy you don't understand the meaning of counter attacking play
in counter attacking you park you bus and you regain possession in your own half then you need a attacking midfielder to orchestrate this
Sir tell me the attacking midfielder that Liverpool has

There is a reason 'attacking' is in the word counterattacking, now ask yourself how does his attack originate from the creativity of his midfielders or the mistake of his opponents?

Teams can be so good from counterattacking that they dominate teams e.g Mourinho's Real Madrid

lobatan

Balogun is no ball playing defender, A team that covers quickly when they lose possession will close in on him before he can say jack
he is a decent defender but he is no playing defender

I do not agree. Counter attacking play relies a lot on your approach in the whole game. Not just your set up. Even Man City fall back deep when we fail to lose the ball in the first 6 seconds. But, in the whole game, we do not rely on defending but attacking to give us results.

Liverpool spends most of their time in the offensive. Maybe because of a compact midfield, you forget they rely a lot on their full backs pushing high up most of the time, pairing up with the forwards. Wijnaldum also push forward.

I've said in my previous post that it depends on the teams tactics ...Ajayi is playing as a stopper coz thats what rohr want ekong is also a stopper coz that what rohr and udinese want
but balogun best role AS A CB IS A "BALL PLAYING DEFENDER"

Can we play attacking football? Of course we can but it depends on opposition. Top teams will skin us if we dare it. If we think our wingers are fast, we should not get carried away. Top teams have defenders who'd neutralise them.
Absolutely agree

sadly true. ex-international Sol Campbell has the requisite badges but has and continues to be ignored. lamps and Gerrard on the other hand where barely a year into top management but like magic the top jobs get thrown at them

Thats not even the worst.

For me the proverbial " dirty slap in the face" to black players is Lee Bowyer and Joey Barton both of them essentially racist thugs.

Joey Barton is a hooligan but despite all his misdemeanours which are present continous fighting other managers, etc . As soon as he finishes football his in management within months.

See screen shot about his brother below.

the same attacking football siasia's team will play, score 5 and conceed 4 lol
Morocco sef that has more technical players than us see how they struggle. my Guy Joe is talking as if we are negative all the time. can rohr be unduly conservative at times? yes no one has disputed that but that conservatism is mostly down to opposition and players available. since last year's AFCON haven't we been playing more expansive football since the addition of extra quality like Aribo and a few others?

Go and watch the friendly when we had to fight them and went on the offensive. They were shocked at how good we played. We would never have believed we could play that way if we did not go on the offensive in the second half.

our goals in the second half were from the counter, it was not like we were knocking the Argentines around

You are forgetting that Guardiola has evolved overtime and does not rely purely on passing style of play. We now attack relentlessly, winning the ball high up the pitch alot of times and cutting counters with our full backs dropping into midfield.

Every possession team wins the ball back quickly...
Pep's Barca and Bayern sides worked as hard as anyone when they lost the ball...
Gengenpressing ain't much different.

So because Manchester City counters teams, we are not knocking the ball around. In the second half, we played in full throttle. Most of the time we had the ball, we went on the offensive.

Note the bolded. That is what the true characteristics of attacking football is.

Any good coach will adapt his team either a reflection of the players he has.

There are two levels of comparison AFCON and World cup. The quality required for AFCON zis different from the World Cup.

With regards to the world cup teams that win and progress to the Finals will have at least 4 world class players.

How many world class players do we have❓ In the first instance. And you want to play attacking football hmmm

if you study kloop play very well you will notice he plays an attacking play but some times can hit on counter attack that if they have the chance but Liverpool relies on counter attacker thats a huge lie
liverpool attack like their live depends Liverpool use all their player to attack expect Gomez ,van djik, milner and Henderson these player cover up the defense with milner and Henderson provuding cover for Robertson and Arnold
thats just Liverpool tactics they engage all of their players to attacking thats why in all of van djik goals he hardly scores with foot most of his goals are headed goals from set pieces

Right from Dortmund days klopp have been an attacking coach
