This is the difference between Gegenpressing (Klopp) and Tiki taka (Guardiola)

Pressure on the ball

Before Barcelona played Manchester United in the Champions League final at Wembley in 2011, Alex Ferguson said that the way Barça pressured their opponents to win the ball back was "breathtaking". That, he added, was Guardiola's innovation. Ferguson admitted that United hadn't known how to cope with it in the Champions League final in Rome in 2009. He thought it would be different at Wembley. It wasn't.

That is growing. Winning or drawing games on the negative play is deceiving yourself you are good. Three years down the line, you will see yourself saying this team is not capable of good play.

Give Siasia these boys and see them pull off things that will impress you. Siasia never had the chance to build a team.

There was a time Leicester City whipped City four when we were learning Guardiola's system. Now,
we are a menace to even top teams.
Una don spend 500mill pounds na why won't you be a menace no dey compare grapes and apples

Possesive game? With Milner, Henderson and Fabinho?

Henderson is now a different player under klopp

How many games does Milner even start self ,why didn’t you mention wijnaldum?

So because Manchester City counters teams, we are not knocking the ball around. In the second half, we played in full throttle. Most of the time we had the ball, we went on the offensive.

Note the bolded. That is what the true characteristics of attacking football is.

The Argentines were not as composed in the second half as they were in the first half, we had no shot on goal in the first half
The leading goal from Idowu was due to their losing possession in the Midfield

So how can a coach who can meet and dominate Barcelona in a match be termed a counter attacking coach in any way.

Barca were poorly coached and lacking in quality even Slavia Prague dominated them in the Champions league

Pressure on the ball is not counter attacking. It is when the opposition has the ball, especially as soon as the ball is lost. The players press in unison to win the ball back immediately. Watch Manchester City and Liverpool closely. As soon as they lose the ball, they press for the ball with high intensity. Only after they don't win it back they drop to defend.

If they win the ball high up the pitch, they xan score with few passes

Noted. However, when we had the ball, we were more ruthless. If we play in a higher intensity, we would even cause more damage.

By the way, we can not take the art of keeping the ball from the Argentines. However, what mattered most was how ruthless we were when we had the ball.

They play a big part in splitting the organisation of the opposition's defense. With them bombarding wide with intensity, the opposition has to leave gaps for the forwards to explore.

Why we did not have the shots in the first half is not just because of the organisation of the Argentines but the docile nature we played. We allowed them the time on the ball and failed to utilise the ball offensively when we had it. Because we chose to sit back. When we were ruthless, they found it difficult. Same in the World Cup. We went home because we chose to defend and get the result and it back fired.

They had an early goal and chose to sit back all through. That is not a true example of a Liverpool game.

Anytime the NFF wants to give the Job to Harry Redknapp or Yobo, I say Amunike and Finidi get the nod after Rohr.

Who over looks students of Van Gaal for Student of Dave Moyes?
Agreed. I'm not yet sold on this Yobo hype as a future coach.

I could be wrong though...

This is Liverpool in the Champions league final against Tottenham

Klopp teams prefer to pressure their opponents into making a mistake high up the pitch and then, rapidly, as in the blink of an eye, regain possession and score a goal without even giving the rival player the time to blink.

The term 'Gegenpress' – meaning 'counter-press' – is also associated with Klopp and covers his idea of 'heavy metal football'.

The crux of the approach for Klopp's teams is that if you immediately lose the ball, you have to win it back instantly. This strategy involves a great deal of running and intense focus, with the defensive line played high and the players organised in packs in their hunt to regain possession of the ball.

Note the term counter-press. They do not sit back for you to attack. That is not Klopp's philosophy.

Replying to the bolded, We didn't allow them time on ball they were that good to hold the ball, they controlled the Midfield and attacked with purpose, when they lost possession they closed in on us that we couldn't keep the ball for long
They overlapped in the second half with more urgency to score more and their players were out of position and the ensuing counter was well utilised by our boys

If we handled the second half in the same manner, we would not utilise the gaps created when the Argentines lost the ball.

How is that different from the way counter attacking teams like Madrid set up?

Relying on your opponents to give up the ball for you to score is it attacking or counter attacking?

You expect liverpool to attack against madrid ba ? a champions league final that liverpool where even the underdogs with cr7 and bale right there, maybe if liverpool play against madrid now they will attack, but sorry not then

They played counter against madrid doesnt mean they are not an attacking team

Apart from mancity, liverpool will always play attacking football against any team in the epl, be it united or chelsea

There is a very big difference in sitting back and letting the opponents come at you and make mistakes in your half, sometimes in the defensive third. As against using your forward players to attack the opposition when their with the ball in the opponents half.

They are two different.

Ironically, Real Madrid is also insane with the forward press.

Real Madrid are a better attacking side and had every edge in that final considering the fact that Liverpool had their key man taken out and they were evenly matched against Bayern according to BBC sports, besides Bayern by traditional are attack minded
