@WhyNa Nice job. Please is it advisable to enter VN with tourist visa with the intention of getting a TEFL certificate and getting a job, without landing into trouble? Can tourist visa be converted to work permit? Pls help |
Re: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by WhyNa: 9:09am On May 21, 2020 |
jpride: I'm guessing you mean tourist visa to work visa. With the right amount of money, it can. If you're lucky and get a job that helps with visa, good too It's not always easy though. I always advice to get the work visa so you have rest of mind |

WhyNa:But I heard that as a Black/Nigerian, chances of getting a teaching job is low. Can you give us a link to the school that issued you TEFL certificate? |

WhyNa: Aaah! Thank God you are not hurt. Had my heart in my mouth, literarily. Please stay well, keep safe. This biking thing is really not for me. Though I ride perfectly well, I do not like it at all because of the risk. 7 Likes |

WhyNa: Hey barbie, stay safe out there though oo. But this bike thingy seems a bit risky oh. You are strong for a woman sha. And the darker shade you got on your skin, did it just take one day in the sunlight? |

Re: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by James4bright(m): 10:15am On May 21, 2020 |
Tyteeso: Man, let's forget all this hype. You can't bash someone's car or bike over there and be overlooked, it's not realistic. So if you are over there in Vietnam, and you get terribly hit by a car, the car would zoom off while everyone looks away? Then I prefer the Nigerian system. Even an unknown person can settle an accidental dispute here in Nigeria. A Nigerian won't see a female on the floor bleeding and over look that person. 4 Likes |

James4bright:Bro..if the person that hit u didn't stop..the rest is up to the police, and on the road every one is minding there business...if u see anyone to attend to ur issue u are lucky...during our tym there one of our skul mates died in a bike accident and the other bike person didn't wait..it was 4month after he was arrested with the help of secrets cams 6 Likes |

Re: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by WhyNa: 11:26am On May 22, 2020 |
kevwemanuel: If you're looking for a school for online TEFL, you can search online. Some schools that offer TEFL/ CELTA here are Apollo Ninja teacher AVSE As for finding it difficult getting a job, if you know your onions and you're good, you won't have a problem. As long as you send out your CV, you can expect to go for at least 2 interviews a week and if you're good, they'll take you 6 Likes |

xule20: Now you know why I encourage people to make research on their own cos I don't know it all! I never knew this about Ninja teachers Bottom line of that mail is they can't accept you cos you're a Non native speaker. I think I mentioned it somewhere in the past that you shouldn't gun for those big schools like "Daywater man, Corolla, Pampers, King's college" etc. It is not impossible but be reasonable. Just like in Nigeria, almost on every street, there's an English Center. Native speakers get paid between $20-25 per hour. Non natives earn between $15-18. Sadly, I've heard of people who take jobs of $8. I was even offered one today with accommodation. Again, if your onions is good, you'll know your worth. Native or not. That being said, you can try Apollo English. I know for a fact that they'll take you IF you pass the pre-course interview. They however won't help you with Visa. I've mentioned this before. They also do not guarantee a job placement. They were wise enough to state on their website that it is based in AVAILABLITY. Again I encourage everyone to do more research and quit waiting around for others to post info. No ONE knows it all. All the best , 28 Likes 2 Shares |

This is the favourable response I got from one of the schools. From research and reviews, I can see they are accredited and true to their words. Though it's quite expensive, I pay the initial $600 first. They offer visa support and job placement. My first step into a journey of a thousand miles 14 Likes 1 Share

Re: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by WhyNa: 8:50am On May 24, 2020 |
heniford2: Akunna25: heniford2: I usually advice people to have at least 2M. With 2M, you can start the process, get here, rent an apartment and have something to fall on for a month or two depending. It would also get you a one year visa and work permit. If you're getting a 3 months visa, it should be less than that. Maybe around 1.3 to 1.5 M For 700k, you can do authentication, process a 3 months visa but that's all. There wouldn't be much left to even buy a ticket 13 Likes 1 Share |
