Your own method is also not bad, Emmanuel just suggested a better approach.

The business must pay him, he can give loan to the business, and have a workable plan of how the business will pay back the loan.

Dangote is the chairman and major shareholder of Dangote cement. Dangote cement paid him N60 millon in 2019 as sitting allowances for taking Dangote's time through the attendance of board meetings and spending hours at such meetings ,time is money his company must pay him for his time. This is a company that will pay him a whopping dividend of N200 billion for 2019 financial years.

If things were not done that way, the people running the business will think they can always run to the owners when they run into troubles, just like people who thought Pascal Dozie should use his own money to bail out Diamond Bank when they had issues. The business is a corporate citizen on its own which is quiet different from the owner.

Reason why a business can be indebted, while the owner is not indebted

Obviously, you skipped relatively when you were reading it. I didn't start following this thread yesterday or last month.

Some questions here are needless and a sign of laziness - many are just too lazy to use the search button even in NL to see if a similar question has been answered.

well, this is My Google incase you dont mind ..... and yes i am Lazy

are you happy now

Some of these seemingly silly questions , i have an idea of what the answers are but i would rather ask here from people who have been dere nd done that.

Reassurance that, what i think is right is actually right. Since i have been following this thread when tb rates where pretty good, so u know how long. I have stuck to what i know and learnt here on treasury bills .when i see bond shares i dont even bother cause i dont know it well nd tb was still paying well.

With tb gone south we need to learn other investment opportunities So excuse the silly questions, correct people gladly responded to to clear our doubts.
I didn't see u answering any. Give me time to obtain my MBA degree in bonds and shares from this thread first. Me that i hv been following the responses to other people's questions that relates to this sukuk jejely no yab us at all

i dont see any question as a silly question, as u rightly point out sometimes all you just need is a confirmation of the questions you have answers to ....and i must appreciate some folks that always take their time to answer some will even go ahead and explain and break it down for you to understand the basics. I am relatively new here as well now i understand somethings that even Google cant even help me. Ask a question about bonds sometimes ago some point out that he has written a well detailed explanation about it i look through his Post got the answer i need and some other people are blessed too its as simple as that . someone ask a question you have answer to it and u are too lazy to type ....kindly jump and pass ...no need to corrupt people that has Open Mind that always help us by calling those that ask question "Lazy Folks" hell Yes i am Lazy thats why i look at the thread almost every hour to learn from folks that is more knowledgeable than me and Oh Yes i am Emotional About it

Thanks

Too early to start another round of endless arguments.

We are all differently and wonderfully made, we should ignore any post or contribution that did not mention or quote us

This is one of the few threads on Nairaland where people treat themselves with courtesy and respect, these attributes are gradually becoming alien to us

Sure, if you opt for it. There is opportunity to give your mandate in that regard whether at the point of opening account or after and it is flexible you can opt in or out. For instance if it's Abacus and you pick reinvest interest by first day of the next quarter your interest is reinvested while for VGIF the interest is reinvested 1st July and 1st January of each year.
What's the difference between Abacus and VGIF. Do they pay interest monthly, quarterly or yearly?

Am not a guru but you deserve an answer. The gurus will attend to you when they wake. The present SUKUK bond at 11.2% is a better deal. That amount (about 18m) that fetches you about 700k now will be getting you over 2m every year. 11% is fair considering the rates now and future expectations.

Did you ever receive the certificate for the shares you bought then?

If you have any document as evidence of purchase, contact their stockbroker house the sales agent worked with or the registrar.

No, you get your rental income and buy money market funds. Whenever opportunities come up for another juicy FG bonds or Sukuk, you can redeem your money market fund and buy the bonds

For SUKUK funds.
Please what do they mean by Custodian AC No.?
Secondly, do they withdraw the money direct from the account provided in the form?

THE SEPARATION OF INVESTMENT AND MANAGEMENT.

In a public limited company, the only investors who may engage in management are the directors. These are those shareholders to whom the power of management has been delegated by the body of shareholders.

THE MEMBERS

a. The acquisition of membership: Membership may be obtained by various methods-applying for a new issue of shares; purchasing from a present accepting of gift or bequest, etc-but it must be a voluntary action. For
instance, a person may not be a member against his will and a person whose name appears in a company’s register of members without his consent may take action to have it removed.

b. Subject to company regulation: Having acquired membership a person is bound by the regulations of the company. Application to be registered as the holder of shares includes a commitment to be so bound.

c. Voting power: Shareholders may give a member the right to vote at company meetings but there is not automatic legal right to a vote. The extent of any voting (usually one vote per share) is specified in the terms of issue and in the company’s regulations.

We always make the mistake of co-mingling our money and that of our business. This usually give a false sense of profitability of the business.

Whatever you put should be a loan which must be paid back at a given time

Even if you are using your property for a business, the business ought to pay rent to you, take care of other running costs, pay you a given stipend as salary, before you can determine the profitability of the business. Most especially if you have been running this business for 2 years and above

Most SMES dont separate there accounts into personal and business , most am sure even run most of there business thru there personal accounts , the rest that have enterprise and Limited coy accounts don’t keep all the books and don’t Chanel payments thru them ,the reason is simple , most do not want to pay tax or other government fees etc , for some it’s a question of don’t want to put up or pay for the structure that will enable this , accountants , store officers , auditors etc ,

I know a lot of traders , there turnover will be in excess of 500m , a few over 1b . Most operating from personal accounts or a few using combination of personal and enterprise account

I have 2 ongoing projects , one for 16m for the builder/engineer fees , he provided his personal account , when we were about to start the second project which is much bigger , I insisted I wanted a company account , reluctantly he provided one and said oga the tax people might disturb me later smiling

What advice will you give along this line

Even if it is a micro business, the enterpreneur should use one of his personal accounts as the account where income from the micro business will be paid into.

A micro business is that which the start up capital is N1 millon and below

Most salary earners thinks our side businesses are profitable because of co-mingling, it is when we are retired and face the business squarely that we will realize that we have been swimming naked all along

A salary earner who co-mingles his account with his side business and does well must be very disciplined and frugal. My wife does that and her salary for the past 4 years are been invested in money market, stock market, bonds, real estate and Treasury Bills. The side business and residual income from her investments handle her bills and pays her a monthly stipends. She gives personal loan to the business at 15% per annum whenever the need arises

Most Investment WhatsApp group admins use that avenue to sell funny and suspicious business opportunities to hungry and lazy people who want fast money, these usually end in losses and tears

You need a corporate account, you can't be a contractor with big companies like Guinness, Flour Mills, MTN, Dangote, First Bank etc using your personal name, with being registered with Corporate Affairs Commission. Big businesses will always pay into your corporate account.
Same with local government, state government and Federal government.

There is a limit to the size of loan you can get as an individual, no bank will give you a N100 million loan on your personal guarantee when you are not a Dangote, but you can get a business loan that is more than that based on the cash flow generating ability of the business
