Praise be to Allaah.

Zakaah on wealth is one of the five pillars of Islam is something other than the zakaah that must be paid at the end of Ramadaan (zakaat al-fitr also known as Sadaqatul-fitr).

By the way, have you given out your Zakaatul fitri? remember, you can only do that before Eid. May Allah accept it from me and you (Ameen).

Eid Mubaarak in advance

This is an interesting topic and one needs to do more research on it.

The zakat fitr is basically charity. But given staple food? That part I don’t understand. What if the person you’re given rice already has rice and needs other resource to make the food.
That’s why I always ask for sources on threads like this.

Meanwhile giving money could afford the receiver the freedom to do what best suited him/her.

That said Allahu a’alam!

If the person you want to give zakatul fitri to already has rice or the grains you want to give him or her that means he's not a needy. Though there are differences of opinion concerning this issue but we must ask ourselves one simple questions that; during the time of prophet (PBUH) are they not spending money? Did he in anyway command them to use money instead of grains?

Now after that question there comes a particular schenario if there's no one to give grains to in the community you can send money to someone to buy grains and give it out on your behalf. And Allah is the most Knowledgeable!!!

Money is not allowed Islamically, if you want to give someone Money you could do Sodaqo instead not Zakaatul Fitri

Salam Alaykum.
I don't have much finance to buy food for many people (for zakat, but just a give to the needy) but I can buy for two people, is it permissible in Islam.

Can I buy bread or rice and beans for them, because I just want to help no capacity for a real zakat. Thanks.

Wa alekum Salam Waramotulah wabarakatuh, some says 3kg and 2.25kg (difference of opinion perhaps because the error in conversion). It is thus better if you can use a Saa'. Also you can use your hand alternatively.

If you are salary earners and you are expecting money soon, then it is fine. Otherwise, you are also eligible to take

brother look around your vicinity, there are surely those who that rice will be useful to...You can then add little money on your own volition to assist them in getting what to use in making the food....That's the tradition

Thatvs why Ali (radiyAllhu aanhu) said if the religion is practised by what we think then we would be wiping the soles of our feet (when performing ablution) not above the feet.

The matter is clear.
If someone has rice then he is not due for zakaah based on textual evidence not jurisprudential deductions by so and so scholar.
In Islām the text ya'ni the prophet's statement carries more weight than any scholarly deduction no matter how knowledgable they are.

Money was very much present in the prophet's time and Allāh never ordered him to collect money has zakaatul fitr so, where does that put us?

We respect our scholars but we don't follow their opinions (blind follow them) when there are evidential proofs to the contrary.

And there is nothing bad in giving money to such person to cater for whatever need they lack as sadaqah (charity) not as zakaatul fitr.
