Hi guys, what are the chances of being called for interview this winter 2020 if I choose Category B? Also, please can someone explain most of the abbreviations, I tried getting them by going through previous posts but everyone seems used to it so their full meanings were not there. Thanks. |

Xtretchy: List the abbreviations you want to know the meaning of and folks would help out. You didn't list anything. A lot of things are abbreviated here. |

Hello everyone, pls I need your help. I have an interview with Bonn Uni in few days time. Is there anyone here in that Uni who might know what I should expect in the interview. I've been working on some range of questions/field but I guess with experience will boost my preparations. Also, I'm in the biomedical field. |

Hiro2:well I did an interview with university of gottingen yesterday and it went well. I was asked why I picked the school, my future career, why I didn't perform well in my lower level in the university days. It's not really difficult. |

justwise:Hi my people, i am a newbie here, and i have applied for a masters degree in TUM, Paderborn and POtsdam Please if you apply to any of these schools, kindly signify and lets connect. I am seeking a masters degree in sports science. Going through this previous threads, i was able to decode a few abbreviations and catch a glimpse of the process of application but i still needfurther clarifications. 1. I have submitted my application to the schools above via uni-assist and sent hardcopy of my certified documents to uni-assist. But the post master(FEDEX) have been unduly slow for me. i also saw that a number of people have complained about them on the thread,; took over 8days to move mail from to lagos from Akure). the expected delivery is 6th JUne- Although i uploaded my documents online for UNIassist, would they continue to work with the uploaded documents or they will have to wait for my hardcopied documents before starting my admission process, bearing in mind that it may take 3-6weeks for uni-assist to revert to me? 1b. I would need VPD for my TUM application, considering my postmaster's dilatory response on my mail as stated in (1a) above, should i be hopeful? I am just praying that Uniassist continues with my online documents while awaiting my hardcopy. 2. I noticed that my courses were enlisted in the DAAD scholarship page, how can one be a beneficiary of this application please i need someone to please help me. 3. category A and B is still convoluted for me. please kindly elucidate please. THanks for your time and response. |

The following steps will help newbies (Thanks to CassieV for the tips) Most of the schools in Germany are tuition free even for international students, you only get to pay a certain amount as semester fees say between 100-400 euros and most times the semester fee comes with a semester ticket to aid in transportation in your city or town. However, before you're granted a student visa, you have to prove that you can take care of your living expenses with one of the following means ; 1. Block account: The estimated living expenses for a student in a month is 720euros, when you multiply that by 12 months, you get 8640euros. This is the amount you're required to block in an already opened account with either Deutsch bank, Fintiba or Xpatrio. It is called a block account because you will not be able to withdraw everything at once, only 720euros will be released to you every month. 2. Sponsorship letter: If you have a relative living and working legally in Germany, they can get you this letter. They'll have to visit the alien office in their city and will be required to provide some documents and pay a certain fee. The letter will be sent to you when they receive it so that you can go with it for your visa interview. 3. Scholarship: This is usually the best if you have the scholarship, your visa will be granted in under 2 weeks after interview. So try and look for scholarships you can apply to. Now that you understand the financial situation, let's go into the application process. To search for schools, click on this link https://www.daad.de/deutschland/studienangebote/international-programmes/en/?p=l&q=&fos=0&lang[]=2&fee[]=0&sortBy=1&page=1&display=list filter your search to make it easier, there are English taught courses there. Generally, the very important documents needed to apply to schools in Germany are; 1. Transcript 2. English Proficiency 3. School Certificates (Degree, Waec, etc) However, depending on the school, some other documents needed are as follows. 4. Curriculum Vitae 5. Motivation letter 6. Reference letters 7. GRE test 8. Etcetera.. Visit your prospective school website and find out the documents they need from you. Note: You don't apply with your original documents, you have to make photocopies of them and Certify them in High court or a Notary public. If you stay in Lagos, you can certify at the German Embassy too. You'll have to book appointment for that. For those planning to go for a Bachelors course, you need a 100level transcript from a university to apply for a BSc program in germany. WAEC alone will not be enough and No, OND will not do, you need a HND. For the application proper, it is always important to go through the website of the schools you want to apply to, you'll get a lot of information form there concerning how to apply. Some schools do only online applications, some requires that you send your application documents to them by post after applying online, some you send your documents as pdf to their email address and then you get the uni assist crew. Like I said earlier, it is important to go visit and read the websites. When you get your admission letter, open a block account immediately(that is if you don't already have a sponsorship letter) and as soon as you get your account details, send an email to the embassy requesting for a visa interview date. You need these to get an interview date: 1. Admission letter 2. Block account/sponsorship letter/scholarship letter 3. International passport data page(scanned) Then your Full name and Resident address. Prepare for your interview Go for your interview reference: copied from justwise for newbies among us 3 Likes |

Sharonte: Good. But a lot of things has changed. A review would have been better. The few changes include the amount for blocked account.. It's now 853 Euros per month. Also, the procedure for getting the appointment for interview has changed. You only apply through a link on the Lagos consulate website. Also, you don't need to block your money before getting interview date. 4 Likes |

For your block account Fintiba is the best,it's very easy to open, less stressful, customer friendly and also offer Insurance but that's if you desire to go with the block account plus Insurance package. This is VERY IMPORTANT, please don't for any reason fund your block account before get appointment date from the embassy. A word they say is enough for the wise. Peace! ewatts: 2 Likes |

To be honest you will need lot of prayers, believe and patient because it's not easy to get appointment date from the embassy especially on category B. I was on this journey last year,I got admission in May 2019 for September intake and I applied for appointment unfortunately appointment didn't show till the year ended. I was said and worried and funny thing was that at the time I didn't know much about Nairaland mainly because I have three friends studying in Germany so they were helpful with guidelines but i forgot to put into consideration that a lot has changed since they left Nigeria in terms of appointment date and other things. I funded my block account with Fintiba last year June, when I couldn't get appointment date for September my school decided to defer my admission to March 2020 then I rebook another appointment but still I couldn't get appointment date for category B for March, I could remember vividly that even people on category A then couldn't get appointment date except for people on category A with scholarship, to be honest I gave up and I started working on how to get my money back from Fintiba and to the glory of God I got it back three weeks ago. Now I'm processing another country but I've learnt and know a lot about Germany so I come here once in a while to give advice and answer questions to the best of my knowledge. Xtretchy: |

Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by uncleseries: 7:35pm On May 22, 2020 |
Sharonte:What if after funding, you don't get a date? Trust me, this is no Ecobank, Access or First bank you just walk into with your nose mask and fill forms to get your money. This is international, the process involved will frustrate you. So its better you get an appointment date first and then fund sharply. Cheers |

Mikeval001: This life sef. A friend of mine told me this same thing (his experience last year) early this year (Jan) when I was still applying. I rushed to book the appointment that January only to get AD for Mar 17. I had no admission then so I ditched the appointment. I have applied again last week after getting AL. I hope I will be lucky again. |
