I'm not gonna lie...I miss Nigeria sometimes which makes me flirt with the idea of splitting my time there when my kids are older. I miss my family, my friends and the sense of community.

But then I remember lack of internet and electricity, horrific healthcare system, bad roads, bigotry, lack of value for human life, insecurity, police brutality, immense corruption, tribalism, crumbling or non-existent economy and a million other horrible things. This quickly resets my mind.

My solution which I'm currently working on is to bring my sisters and my best friend over to live in Sydney with me and make good living for themselves. Then I won't have any business with Nigeria anymore except to visit my parents every two years.

So to answer your question: no, nein, never!!!
Like. Seriously.

Ur best friend to Sydney.

Woow!!
Are u for real?

This talk about adapting, as if there's anything good in adapting to nonsense living is laughable.

Common basic amenities the country can't boast of and we get talks about adapting as though its some honourable thing to do. SMH.

Why should anyone adapt to epileptic power supply and corruption and fraud and insanity in general? Why? Just why?

Your thinking is in line. Nigeria has a way of making the rich, poor, skilled and unskilled cry. Graduates have been reduced to internet beggars and lazy youths as described by my dear president.

Please remain were you are

Crazy idea.
Save the money to first get rid of Fulani-imported invaders from the south of Nigeria.

Nigerians abroad, how many of you are considering relocating back to the 'motherland' once this whole pandemic/lockdown debacle is over?

If you are, state your reasons here..

Lol, not going to lie I would have gotten mad as well grin. I just can't imagine a day without electricity. My WiFi was fluctuating the other day and it drove me crazy. So me imagining having no electricity at all really does give me anxiety, especially during this corona period. All my classes are online biko
you do know there is something called an inverter and battery pack, as well as solar ggenerator as well as petrol generator right ? my sister lives in naija AC 24 7 she has huge diesel generator and then back up of solar energy. na money kill am

Not true Ishi. You will in fact have a harder time surviving, as not every country is this abnormal. I saw a thread on Quora, “what is weird in Nigeria, but normal in the rest of the world?”

You can guess the responses.
Lol. That is the reformatting we are talking about. We take pride in nonsense

If you have good money, you can build your own infrastructure and maintain it. There are estates in Lagos with 24x7 power, thanks to generators and inverters.

Others have constant WiFi thrown in. I have stayed in some places in Naija, and I thought I was still abroad....

A lot of things are possible, here. Just have your money.....

the problem of nigeria is not the infrastructure. the problem of nigeria is nigerians. its a beautiful country full of demonic people. during that lockdown period the country was like paradise. you drive on the road peacefully no aggression etc . its a great country. i am talking to you with 24 7 internet from spectranet. its faster than the one i had in UK with plusnet

You refer to our country as hellfire? How so
A country that many are still living large and never even thinking of leaving but only to just go on vacation and reture to their businesses is what he or she is referring to as hellfire. Well am not surprise, he might be living in hellfire personally.

Don't mind them. Nlanders that believe what they are reading here are doing that at their own peril.

Some of them claiming they can't come back to Naija are getting battered with bills in Obodo Oyinbo. Many of them cant even afford flight ticket to Naija once a year.

One of the big boys that i know of moved to Canada, he had to return to Naija when he realized he could not get the job he was about to leave in Naija.

If Bola Tinubu, Mike Adenuga, Prof. Onyema, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and many other eminent Nigerians could relocate back to Nigeria from US, UK, Switzerland, who are you saying Nigeria is thrash, how much are you worth abroad

Most of those saying they will never relocate are young people who just visited abroad or new arrivals or those being fed by their parents abroad...if you want to become rich, you will realise where you ought to be wink

I use a generator whenever I'm there, luckily I have the means to live comfortably there, my complaining about the unstable light was more a jab at the substandard standard of living overall..in the 21st century. I'm still going to be moving around within the country, I can't be THAT far removed from everything. If it's not the light it will be something else, the light was just an example

Good evening sir, I have been observing your post since last year, you talk about giant strides and great stuff. How do someone make it in this Nigeria.

You are planning for your future but you forced to think of only today because the little or no results you are getting can't carry you that far.

To everyone out there 9ja no easy oh

Every country has its flaws and challenges. It's not all bad in Nigeria - at least we have financial survivors who have/are beat/beating down limitations and pummeling them into excellence.

Also, not everyone staying in advanced world is enjoying the anticipated/imagined life.

Everyone should seek the counsel of God, before taking any decision. God's way is perfect and will give you rest.
