Dear Nairaland,
Please I really don't know if my concerns below falls under what you handle but I need people to reason it.

There are strong indications that the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the NYSC, wants to carry out passing out party for Batch B19, stream 1 from the 28th of May, 2020.

Whereas, the POP for corps members are normal traditions, the FGN seems to care less of the youths who will need to travel back to their various locations of abode after such during this lack of interstate movements.

Please, be the voice of the voiceless as there is an impending hardship awaiting the youths who have given their all in service of dear fatherland.

If the passing out corps members can't travel, how does the FGN expect them to survive around their PPA states without any form of allowance during these uncertain times?

How will they fend for themselves should they manage to travel back to their respective states, to their various families who have been on lockdown with no palliatives from the government?

These are questions the FGN ( ministry of youths, and the NYSC), seems not to think about at the moment, as they seem to see these youths as financial burden at these time, with little or no consideration to their psychology and welfare.

Suggestion : Please get Civil Societies to persuade the FGN to continue paying these Corps members allowances even after they collect their discharge certificates until normalcy returns to the country or at least half of the less than $85 they are paying.

There has been countless calls for the FGN to pay the citizens through a standard biometric system that is transparent and can be verified, I feel paying these corps members will go a long way to lift some burdens on a lot of families.

There are societal problems associated with the government plans to let go of these youths with no good plans for them.

This is a heartfelt plea to you. Please treat as VERY URGENT.

There is sense in what this young man said,this is not the best of times to conduct POP for corp members, as some of them will be coming from far for it...it think it should be postponed, and the corp members should be paid half of their monthly allowance until everything normalizes.then they can be discharged

Sad truth, yet the government wants the citizens to be patriotic. In Recent times, there has been numerous orientation for people to think about "what to do for the country, and not what the country will do for them".

Well, we guess the country want our lives for the enrichment of the leaders. Sad truth.

I understand your plight have been there. But understand this as soon as you pass out from that scheme you are officially on your own. The Govt doesn't give a damn about the Nigerian youth because they believe they have paid their dues with the paltry allowance. That's just the sad truth. But about the interstate movement I believe the right authorities will look into it.
