I've realised that to be successful in publishing (and I dare say in business in general), you need to go against the crowd...what the other 99% are doing.

The reality is that 10% of the riches in the world is controlled by just 90% of the people. Likewise, in publishing the statistics are eerily similar. If that were the case then, what makes you think that you'll do better than the crowd by simply using the exact same strategies they're using? it makes no sense.

For e.g. publisher A can invest $280 to have 2 books whereas publisher B can invest the same $280 and have 6 books (I kid you not)...its 100% possible.

Furthermore, there are ways you can increase the exposure for your books by as much as 400% WITHOUT SPENDING 1 KOBO...and, the funny thing is, Amazon themselves will help you implement this strategy! yet so many people aren't aware of it.

Granted I learned this strategy from a mentor and prior to that i wasn't aware it was possible. Ignorance is truly a disease.

To be successful, you need to know what the other publishers don't know...you need to work smart (not just hardwork)

Most importantly, you need to condition your mind to think STRATEGICALLY about every decision you make.

- What's the pedigree of the niche I'm about to enter?
- Does it have the capacity to scale
- Can I get the very most out of my money (e.g. can I generate 6 books from $280 instead of just 1 book)
- Can I build a brand in this niche?
- Is it seasonal/cyclical or is it evergreen? etc.

Questions that are all addressed in the Mentorship (and to some extent in the Kindle Publishing Blueprint)

Don't just work hard...learn to also work smart.

Update - This book (published March 18) is really showing no signs of slowing down..if anything, it's going from strength to strength. Will be lying if I say I'm not impressed. It's definitely one of the best books i've published to date

My current all-time best has brought in more than $10,000 in audiobook sales alone since its launch less than 9 months ago. It's sold 1963 audio units to date (earning on average $5) and has 23 bounties (each bounty is $50)

There's a way to do it. It'll cost money to set up but there's definitely a way to do it LEGITIMATELY.

With regards to your other comments, you're quite right. It takes consistent effort to get to $1000-$2000 per month. You need to publish in high demand keywords with not too much competition..sounds cliche but that's the key. It gets even better when you can run AMS ads to your book

That being said, Audiobook publishing is the new gold rush.

Finally, yes I'm in London but i've mentored students in Nigeria and USA before (Via Skype, Facebook, Whatsapp etc). I usually do a video screenshare and show them the process I follow when conducting keyword research

One of the books that changed my life - Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

Understanding money takes time to learn. But it is an investment in your skills and knowledge or your educational wealth. The economy is sure to go through several booms and busts and it is your educational wealth that will preserve or increase your wealth throughout these.

The rich buy assets. The poor buy liabilities. Defining these things simple:

Assets – Something that puts money in your pocket. e.g. A rented property, An increasing stockholding, a book that pays you royalties
Liabilities – Something that takes money out your pocket. e.g. A monthly car fee. A house you live in and pay a mortgage, Netflix/Spotify debit.

Rich people accumulate assets which feed their income (Stocks, books, property they rent out etc.). Poor people accumulate liabilities which feed their expenses (property they live in and pay mortgage, car payment, credit card etc.). If people have this flow wrong (buying liabilities instead of assets) having more earning actually exacerbates the problem, rather than solving it.

What prevents people from becoming rich is less often the salary they make, but rather how they spend that salary (on liabilities rather than assets e.g. more cars, credit cards, more expensive shoes, exotic travels, expensive jewellery etc. all to keep up appearance).

The Rich Cycle

Rich people continually build, buy or create assets. This, in turn, feeds their income, which in turn can be used to re-invest in more assets. The first milestone is to try have enough assets to completely offset liabilities. Then you can continue to add more, diversifying your assets and experimenting with riskier investments.

When we ask what is someone’s wealth, we are measuring their revenue-generating assets vs their liabilities. This is the measure of someone’s financial runway; how many months they could survive before their bank account would hit 0. If you have assets way and above your liabilities, you will have a long runway.

The path to complete financial freedom looks like so:

- Earn a salary so that you can cover expenses
- Build assets that generate income (in addition to your salary) that can support expenses
- Over time, add more assets so that eventually all your expenses can be supported by income from assets. At this stage, you can forgo your salary if you want to (leave job, retire, etc).
- Continually re-invest any extra income into assets so that your income continues to grow above and beyond your expenses and liabilities.

As Robert Kiyosaki says

they are no number of books you need to write to achieve that amount.. you can publishéd 1,000 still not achieve $1000 you can also publishéd even 50 or less and still achieve that amount.. it all depend on ur level of understand also good keyword, quality books, good description and design.

Given the recent change in the Publishing industry (audiobook Goldrush is officially over), it's even more important to extract every bit of performance from the ebook, paperbacks and hardcover editions of your book.

One way to maximize performance is via Amazon Advertising. This is a bit scientific and a bit artistic. It requires patience and constant monitoring/optimization to weed out the non-performing keywords and double-down on the keywords that are bringing sales.

Do this well, and you will see tremendous results in your bottom line

That being said, it's incredible to note that quite a number of people are still sleeping on publishing. You see people searching for legitimate ways to make money and change their lives.

Get this...in 2019, my total revenue from Publishing was over N50 million and N36 million of that was pure profit

If that is not life-changing I don't know what is.

Exactly what it says...ranking books on Amazon in 2012 was a lot easier that it is in 2020. Any crappy book could be ranked on page 1 with relative ease and you would make a lot of money. That is no longer the case

The same goes for audiobooks...every guy and their dog cant easily make a lot of money with audiobooks anymore. You need great quality books with an audience to make good money long term.

This is more for the short term opportunist looking to make a quick buck with just about any audiobook content they can get their hands on. It's no longer possible with audiobooks..it was previously
