Accidents

Last night, I had an accident. It happened soo fast. One thing I've noticed is when you bash or someone bashes your bike or car, KEEP MOVING.

Nobody does the screaming, yelling, a beg na, pay for damages wahala. They can just mumble sorry and keep moving.

So I held on to the breaks too fast to avoid hitting some guy who was trying to zoom past someone Infront who was clearly trafficating. Landed on the floor and hit my "head" . Thankfully, I had a helmet on (which is compulsory here) so the helmet was what actually hit the floor.

The only person that stopped was the guy who was trafficating and had nothing to do with the accident. The other guy just prolly kept going.

Thankfully, I'm fine, not a scratch. My headlamp got broken though. First mechanic said it will cost about 18k in Nigerian naira to fix it and some other part that was broken.

Got another mechanic who's fixing it for 7k. Price price price.

Bottom line...these guys here drive rough. Expect anything at anytime. They don't have the other road users mentality. It's all about them
Eyha...thank God it's not much, accidents is normal there and it's not like naija that u shout on urself..dey don't even abuse themselves that u are at fault or so, no one will even stop to check what happened...pls careful out there with bike..very soon u too will be the don on there road..stay safe

Summer:

Whoever said blacks can't tan was lying. When Spring came and the sun started showing up gradually, I was excited. Like it had been cold for a while and no sign of sunshine so it felt good to feel some sun on my skin.

People kept saying I shouldn't wish for summer too quickly but I just laughed. Don't get me wrong, I love and prefer the cold but a li sun wouldn't hurt.

Then I started seeing people. wearing long sleeves, no not just long sleeves, it's like a gown that covers from head to toes when going out. I didn't understand until today.

The sun here didn't come to play I swear. It's not just hot but the air is HOT and the sun FRIES! your skin. See pictures of my arm after I went out to fix my bike.

Notice the two skin tones? The light part is where the sleeves of my t-shirt stopped
Lolz...this same reason is why I do laugh when corona neva reach Africa then..that pple are saying corona can't survive our naija sun..I now ask den if corona is in Asia Vietnam, Cambodia then sun can't stop it cos our naija sun no reach the sun and heat in Vietnam

I'm guessing you mean tourist visa to work visa. With the right amount of money, it can. If you're lucky and get a job that helps with visa, good too It's not always easy though.

I always advice to get the work visa so you have rest of mind

But I heard that as a Black/Nigerian, chances of getting a teaching job is low.
Can you give us a link to the school that issued you TEFL certificate?

Aaah! Thank God you are not hurt. Had my heart in my mouth, literarily.

Please stay well, keep safe. This biking thing is really not for me. Though I ride perfectly well, I do not like it at all because of the risk.

Hey barbie, stay safe out there though oo. But this bike thingy seems a bit risky oh. You are strong for a woman sha.

And the darker shade you got on your skin, did it just take one day in the sunlight?

Thanks.

There are traffic lights and all they really obey them. Sometimes you have offenders who beat traffic lights when there's no oncoming vehicles.

Also, if you're here, 03 red light = GO.

Where does the police want to stand and arrest the rough drivers? Inside the traffic or in-between hundreds of bikes?
Okay.

As for the bolded grin cheesy grin

Man, let's forget all this hype. You can't bash someone's car or bike over there and be overlooked, it's not realistic.

So if you are over there in Vietnam, and you get terribly hit by a car, the car would zoom off while everyone looks away?

Then I prefer the Nigerian system. Even an unknown person can settle an accidental dispute here in Nigeria. A Nigerian won't see a female on the floor bleeding and over look that person.

If you're looking for a school for online TEFL, you can search online. Some schools that offer TEFL/ CELTA here are Apollo
Ninja teacher
AVSE

As for finding it difficult getting a job, if you know your onions and you're good, you won't have a problem. As long as you send out your CV, you can expect to go for at least 2 interviews a week and if you're good, they'll take you

Now you know why I encourage people to make research on their own cos I don't know it all!

I never knew this about Ninja teachers Bottom line of that mail is they can't accept you cos you're a Non native speaker. I think I mentioned it somewhere in the past that you shouldn't gun for those big schools like "Daywater man, Corolla, Pampers, King's college" etc. It is not impossible but be reasonable.

Just like in Nigeria, almost on every street, there's an English Center. Native speakers get paid between $20-25 per hour. Non natives earn between $15-18. Sadly, I've heard of people who take jobs of $8. I was even offered one today with accommodation. Again, if your onions is good, you'll know your worth. Native or not.

That being said, you can try Apollo English. I know for a fact that they'll take you IF you pass the pre-course interview. They however won't help you with Visa. I've mentioned this before. They also do not guarantee a job placement. They were wise enough to state on their website that it is based in AVAILABLITY. Again I encourage everyone to do more research and quit waiting around for others to post info. No ONE knows it all.

All the best

They have this machine that squeezes out juice from sugarcane. I'll try to take a picture.

Many people want to visit Vietnam, that's the truth. However, people rarely know much about this country. That's why they need to read Vietnam guide to learn the best places in this country. Personally, I knew about da nang using the guide and I am in delight. I am really happy to visit this gorgeous place

Nha trang is also gorgeous for vacation

This is the favourable response I got from one of the schools. From research and reviews, I can see they are accredited and true to their words. Though it's quite expensive, I pay the initial $600 first.

They offer visa support and job placement.

I usually advice people to have at least 2M.

With 2M, you can start the process, get here, rent an apartment and have something to fall on for a month or two depending. It would also get you a one year visa and work permit.

If you're getting a 3 months visa, it should be less than that. Maybe around 1.3 to 1.5 M

For 700k, you can do authentication, process a 3 months visa but that's all. There wouldn't be much left to even buy a ticket
