The game changer was the OTP she gave out. Even if they have your BVN, account no.. but hence they don't have your mobile number or OTP generated is not sent to them, they cannot steal from you. Also, if you compromise your card details it's over. Let us educate ourselves LaIabobo: |

The fact that no one from your family and friends has refused to help you goes a long way to show that you're not a good person |

Re: Have Fraudsters Invaded The BVN System? by amrete1: 2:51pm On May 24, 2020 |
the truth is that scammers cannot defraud you and transfer your money with only your BVN NUMBER. They need other information to be able to do that. |

These scammers have been operating for too long. I called MTN to report the Scammers numbers, the MTN customer service personnel that picked was sounding drunk and nonchalant on the phone. There should be a way telephone networks should be able to restrict a telephone number...probably if more than 10-50 fraud cases are reported against the number. |

Fion:i believe its the job of children whose parents are illiterates on the dangers of giving their atm cards to strangers to withdraw money for them and besides there are bank security guards around always willing to help so why give ur atm to a random stranger standing the queue with u. |

Slynation:cos u different.some evil ppl use it as an opportunity to hurt others.there was one i read about this guy who always voluntered to help old ppl to withdraw money from the atm and when u give him the card he would pretend that there is an issue with ur card then switches the card givin an expired one while he takes ur own.he did this successfully for a year before he was caught red handed.some ppl if they steal ur atm card hacking ur atm pin number is small thing to them. 2 Likes |

Fion:there is one bank very close to apkakpava road in benin.the security there dont allow random strangers in helping ppl withdraw money from the atm.they are always around the queue standing and watching.if u have issues with ur card u will approach them or if u fiddling with the atm machine they will wlak up to u and ask whats the issue.i was so much impressed when i went there to withdraw.anyway to be on safe side tell the person to insert the card into the atm machine and tell him what to do instead of collecting the card from him and doing it urself.u never know wat can happen .no be by doing good samaritan somebody go come accuse u of switching their atm card. 1 Like |

lefulefu:Yeh, Bros abeg Oh, I won't do it again. It's just that most times the lines are always long here and directing them to do it themselves will take much time. To save time I just had to withdraw for them myself. But I won't do it again since You've told me the risks. |

Fion:if u must help insist the person slots in the card himself into the atm then direct him how to operate it.its safer that way oo.u know nigerians are funny ppl.u can take dat card now and operate it for him and when u give back the person the card he will start shouting that u collected his card and gave him and expired one and then kasala don bust . |

Honestly I think all the banks are compromised and there's always one or 2 staffs working in every bank that is also working with one of this scammers.. I said this because jan 2020 I went with my wife to ecobank so we can open a joint account. My wife had no Bvn so we sharply did the new Bvn process and verification there and got her Bvn number and then we proceeded to create the joint account, so it got to a point that I needed some documents to complete the process, which is my nepa bill, so we have to leave the process unfinished and I said we'll continue wen I bring the nepa bill, just few days later I'm already receiving call, they called my wife name, address, Bvn date of birth and all, and said they are from my bank, now note (no be today me don dey deal with all this mumu scammers) but wetin surprised me na, how come, Bvn way person just do few days ago way we nova even open the account, scammers don already get the information? What's going on here, our banking system is really so poor ooo. No information is private, and judging from the calls, this guy's are not even that educated nor smart, which means it doesn't take them to be a genius to get all this informations.. Smh |

motionarena: DON'T BLAME THE BANK FOR NOT RESPONDING TO YOUR CALL. NO BANK RESPONDS TO CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINTS ON THE PHONE. THE MOST THEY DO IS CALL AND ASK YOU TO PHYSICALLY PRESENT YOURSELF AT A BRANCH. |
