There is the Prophecy that Joseph being a fruitful bough and him being an Ensign for all the Nations of the world. It is him that the whole world will gather around.

Moreover, Mathew specifically mentioned the name of women in the genealogy, and Mary was not one of them. Get your facts right.

The Gospel of Luke was written years after Matthew was written, so it's just a copy and paste work for a different audience.
