You can learn how to build an indigenous African economy from Nigerians, not one where the richest people are Indians.. Your GDP is too small at $60bn.

This is called Quantitative Easing (QE) - and few years ago most countries engaged in that. Basically CBN would simply buy of your gov debts by printing money & pay off the creditors. US and EU printed lots of money during the last crisis - and they didn't die. Those who died from debt crisis are the Greeks who gave away their ability to intervene by choosing the Euro...something they cannot just print.

SOuth Africa's external debt is huge! But their domestic debt is also big . If their external debt is about $100bn, how are they going to print rands to escape a default, you idiot? The printing of local currency to pay debt can only be done in case of domestic debt. And if they try that at their current rate of 6% inflation, then their country would fall into bigger trouble as inflation would spiral up and make many poor. In that case it is wiser to default than to print money like Idi Amin.

You know zilch about international finance! You proved it again. Quantitative Easing is used to increase inflation in countries where the inflation is already too low. This is going to reenergize the economy and make people spend more, especially locally produced goods. Europe and America can risk this, not South Africa which imports more than it exports like Kenya!

Inflation rate in EU at the time was less than 1%. South Africa's is 6%, idiot. You are comparing apples and bananas.

If South Africa's debt is mainly domestic, then you are talking of over $100bn. If they print that much, they'll sink. Nigeria doesn't do that and won't. That may be an option for Kenya. But not Nigeria.

I don't even want to talk about Kenya's debt. Nigeria and South Africa are big economies that can somehow find a way round their debt problems, but Kenya can not. With a debt at 100% of your $6Obn GDP, you are finished. As in Kaput.
