Makassar is also building a 4.3 km elevated highway connecting its centre to the seaport. Keep in mind that Makassar is the 8th largest city in Indonesia.

Here's where rvp2018 got it wrong.... He thought % of sectors can be calculated to give u overall figure of a country's GDP when in actual fact, its only for a particular year.
If a country's agricultural sector is 40% or 50%, it doesnt mean u should calculate it against d GDP, thats gross.... It only means that agriculture accounts for 40% in that particular year. Like in rvp's store, since rvp gained $20, assuming he sold agricultural products worth $8, then his agric sector is 40% (for that year).... It may fall to 35% d following year and rise to 43% the one after.

Moreover, economic expansion can originate from developed countries which transfer their superior technology to developing countries. This is where countries such as Asian Tigers (Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea), China, Indonesia and Vietnam fare well while the maghreb do not.

Infrastructure is the key. We could source our income from any kind of resources. Then, we should equip our cities with the basic infras like wide roads, mass transports, better pavements and so on. Asian cities can do this, why can't we?

In terms of infras, Makassar or even Jakarta is still no match for Chinese or Japanese cities. But at least they are building and maintaining the basic infrastructures for their citizens. Here, we rarely see functional pavements in many African's capitals.
