olaNL: This is poor considering that they generate forex for the country with a risk. Compare what they pay to them with Total, Nlng etc, you will see they earn less. Their salaries should be reviewed upward to accommodate the risk they take in regulating our upstream sector. 2 Likes |

It is important to note two things here 1 upfront salary 2. Industry Upfront salary is some percentage of your annual salary paid to you upfront in January. This is normally 45 to 55% depending on the CBA. Say for instance you earn 400k monthly, your annual salary is 4.8 million. Hence a 55% upfront payment will mean you will get a January salary of 2.6 million (from the 4.8 annual salary) and just 180k for the remainder of the 11 months. As someone mentioned the energy industry pays high salary on average. If the DPR as a regulator decides to pay less it risk attracting unskilled workforce and losing it's best hands to the oil companies it seeks to regulate. Another thing is poor salaries make them prone to bribery in an industry like oil and energy. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Upfront is part of you salaries and allowances paid to you ahead of the due date and then deducted from your monthly pay. The fact still remains that their output is not commensurate with their earnings. Total waste of money. olaNL: 8 Likes |

And you think you are making sense with this foolish explanation ? You think the VP n his economic team are not aware of standard police on enumeration in the oil sector ? Why do Nigerians like you scream corruption but when it is exposed you are also first to scream witch hunt. olaNL: 2 Likes |

olaNL:.....my brother, your points are well noted however, NNPC and all its subsidiary MDAs are owned by the government hence by Nigerians. There us no moral justification for an individual working in these organisations to earn millions monthly when the sane government that owns it struggles to pay a fellow Nigerian N30000 minimum wage. You can't compare NNPC or DPR to shell , Mobil and co ...those are privately owned firms hence has the right to determine their pay structure....this exposition by premium times once again shows the stinking corruption and ineptitude of the people that gave been managing this country for years . It's just a bad situation. 5 Likes |

Alajiki: I dont know why you people keep disturbing yourselves about somethings. No matter how much you try educating them it wont work, its something stuck up there already. As if all these things just started today. The lot of guys i know in dpr are not even hausas. If you want to also eat fat checks, go back to school and study the required courses and by the time u start enjoying the salary, i will like to know how they will feel when people complaining thar their salary is too much. I tout they said education is a scam. 5 Likes 1 Share |

olaNL: Ok, how will you justify the fact that oil price has crashed n still they r to be receiving the same benefit. No now, they should be paid according to the price of crude oil, when it goes up, then there pay will also go up, when it comes down, their pay be cut also. |

One thing we seem to forget that upfront is not monthly salary. Upfront is mostly the payment of housing allowance, furniture and other related payments. Many of us get upfront payment from our employees, so why these misunderstanding. Though the pay high. 2 Likes |
