After throwing Sanusi away, these greedy and corrupt politicians are now towing the step of what Sanusi have been clamouring for.

That's a good development.......I don't know why anybody even thought of starting up almajiri. Almajiri has no importance. I'm a Muslim and I studied the Quran perfectly fine without going through almajiri system.

Alamajiri system is nothing but nonsense... I am a Christian... But in the neighborhood (Somewhere in Ibadan) where I grew up, we are mixed, both Christians and Muslims.

If parents wants their child to study Quran, they will make sure the child attends a government public school. And later in the afternoon after school, when the child must have eaten after returning from school, then the child would go to the Mosque to learn the Quran.

That is how it's been done and it has been the best. This Alamajiri system is destroying the future of the kids already.

That is what GEJ wanted to do, but politics did not allow you people to accept it.
I laughed when I saw the headline. So we are going back to what they condemned GEJ for? grin

Obviously Jonathan was way ahead of the slowpokes in this country. grin

and you think their parents can care for them? they will just wait for them to grow and sell them to Boko Haram.

That is why I gave second option for the govt to send them to school.

Covid 19 has restored some sense to the heads of the northern leaders.
Re: Ganduje Abolishes Almajiri System In Kano by tammie24: 7:00am On May 28, 2020
The ones they are sending to the south should be returned to the north including those that were there before

Little kids should be with their parents

It may be normal in the north but not acceptable in the south

Dunce! is it not for this reason too he was fighting SLS??
Nope!
SLS supported his opponent during 2019 governorship election.

Abba kabir Yusuf was the PDP candidate and son in-law to kwankwaso that installed SLS as emir while the governor of Kano state.
That was why.
Immediately after the Ganduje was declared winner of the elections, APC supporters rejected him.

As long as there is a system called Almajarai, Boko Haram will keep having thousands of fighters. The first time I visited Borno, I understood perfectly that boko haram will never end till the almajarai system end. I can authoritatively say that this ban is not about covid 19 but it is security. Initially the elite thought boko haram will kill only Christian but unfortunately, no! This same system is creating a robust workforce for bandits. The senior almajarais are there in millions with no single viable skill except the ability to read and recite the book.

by school you mean primary school and maybe secondary School? because I know government cannot send all of them to higher school .

even if they give them scholarship, a new government may choose to abandon them. the best option is to let them acquire skills. more cheaper and higher chance of getting something doing quickly

Right move in right direction.
Though, I still doubt the credibility of this move coming from someone like Gandollar cos during election now, we might still see northern politicians mobilizing them for the selfish gains.
If this move is coming from Gov. El rufai, I may believe it to some extent.

This was the same thing the cerebral Economist and foremost banker, Emir Sanusi, advocated, but this US Dollar-thieving fool called Ganduje, dethroned him!

At least basic education is very important sending them to acquire skills might still put them back in the street and rememer majority of underage boko haramist are those doing nothing or those learning mechanics etc.

Basic education at least will be fine.

Dude the North are politically very smart. If the South can frustrate their fellow Southerner, why should the North prop him up?

Southern loss is Northern gain. A Southerner would have ruled for 4 more years. Ruling is what matters to the North. Not whether their candidate has anything to offer. It's all about fulfilling Uthman da Fodio's and Ahmadu Bello's plan for the whole area a conquered territory.

But self acclaimed educated Southerners are too selfish fighting for individual pockets to see it. grin

Wow, I'm almost shocked, why did he, Almajirinci brought Kano and the north so much economic growth, we will not take this lying down, we will defend our right as Nigerians to beg wherever we please. Christianisation of the north has begun
Re: Ganduje Abolishes Almajiri System In Kano by Nobody: 7:16am On May 28, 2020
The Solution to this problem is very simple.
Government should establish Almajiri schools on ground not on paper that over 100 were created but in reality, only about 5 were built e.g. Azare in Bauchi, Katsina and 3 other states.

Its going to be an investment, job opportunity, source of foreign exchange, food security, wrong indoctrination will be avoided ( bokoharam), crime rate reduced, social vices reduced, etc.

I sent these suggestions to some governors but they are not visionary leaders.

- Get a vast expanse of land.
- Conduct soil analysis to know which crop best suits the soil there.
- Build Almajiri schools with Western education sections for the poor.
- Now the children will be entitled to free education (both western and Islamic).
- The children will farm at a particular period, go for western classes, rest, farm, rest, Islamic classes etc.
- Get Govt Agriculture extension workers to keep such schools abreast with new findings, modern techniques, remedies, pest & disease control measures and at the same time supervise the schools.
- The harvest; some will be stored for feeding for the year, some for government to help export, govt will likewise tax such schools so no begger on the streets.
- Post bills containing designated bank accounts in banks or public places to those intending to support the Almajiri with any amount.
- enact law to proscribe begging and penalty for anyone giving alms on the streets.
- On graduation, an individual is already trained & conversant with farming as such can venture into it and not be a liability or searching for job.
- There should be stipends saved for the boys and should be given to them on graduation.
- The kids will not send anything home to their parents since it is the responsibility of the parents to take care of them and not the other way round.
- likewise beggers can have a home as the Almajiris for skill acquisitions and aided by the wealthy through designated banks.

WHEN IT'S TIME TO VOTE, THE ELIGIBLE ONES WILL MOVE TO POLLING UNITS TO EXERCISE THEIR FRANCHISE AND BACK TO THEIR SCHOOL.

I quite agree with him, this is a falling that's why I've been in competious laconic lacuna. I will further suggest the government to jail parents for 21 years in prison when caught doing this.

Wait for election to come, you'll know the reason why almajiri started and why it will continue. While the average Nigerians down south and east struggle to get voters card, almajiris in their numbers are freely given voters card irrespective of their age.
