That's a natural animal instict, fight-or-flight. In humans we pray when faced with an acute crisis. The most chaotic countries and people in crisis are the most religious. Africa,India, Arabia etc. You will find religion diminishes with the good social wellbeing/education of any nation. If you want to end droughts stop cutting trees, you can pray all Sunday and Friday but the rains won't come. To make a long story short you can actually draw pararrels between religious piety and the lack of education.

You never came across econometrics in your CFA GDP calculation is pure statistics. It only becomes economics once you start applying econ theories to interpret the numbers.
