Living in Bondage:Breaking Free (2019): 4/10. I tried to indulge my self with this flick after years of nollywood neglect and I was disappointed to say the least. This was uncalled for and no where near the quality of the first part and to think this was a century ahead of the later. The story was so bland and incoherent, and the acting was medicore especially from the lead female, how are you choosing Muna as a lead actress in what was suppose to be the biggest movie from nollywood in recent times (guessing this is her first movie, If not she can't act to save her life) and how is this ritual narrative still a plot in nollywood this era when they are so much more to make movies about.

Nollywood is still at "we don try small small" stage for far too long.. When are we actually going to try big and make proper movies? Pathetic!

The Visit....5.5/10
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Industry:Nollywood

Nse Ikpe Etim is one Nollywood actress i hold in high esteem. She's the proverbial one eyed king in the country of the blind as regards this flick.

Plot was kinda ok, so was the concept, acting asides Etims' was kinda bad, & the dialogues were cheesy.

All in all, it wasn't bad, neither was good, though it's watchable.

The Royal Hibiscus Hotel...5.8/10
Genre: Romance, Comedy.
Industry:Nollywood

Loved the concept, it was quite an original one. Acting wasn't that really impressive, the whites in the movie were more terrible actors than us. Cinematography was ok, nothing fancy, soundtracks were dope, every single one of em', the choice of Johnny Drilles' songs were a good one.

One thing I noticed about Nollywood movies is that conflict resolution of entire movies are done abruptly. Like resolving the climax of a whole movie in a space of just 30sec or less.

Secondly is the predictability. 98% of our movies are predictable & devoid of any form of twist or suspense.

These are the few of the many flaws our dear script writers & directors have to look into & work on. Generally our content has improved, our movies doesn't center on rituals, & a host of barbaric practice anymore, hopefully some day we'd get there.

Diary Of A Pregnant Woman...5.6/10
Genre: Comedy
Industry:Nollywood

Nice concept, our movies seem to be getting good at this. It something you can or will later relate to in life.

Ruth Kadiri totally killed this one, she had me in stitches & like WTF with the interpretation of her role most of the time. em' other cast were really bad, she Ruth, was the focal point of the movie & she sure pulled it off.

Camera lighting was kinda poor, editing was horribly done, you get to see the camera itself a few times, dialogue asides Ruth's was cheesey.

All in all it was still kinda ok & very watchable.

Isoken...6/10
Genre: Romance, Comedy
Industry:Nollywood

Isoken graces us with that nostalgia of being black & African. The African culture, dressing, colours, music, wedding rites etc were well dramatized, so much so, that you just had to be proud of your black pigmentation.

Though not entirely original, cause I've seen similar concept somewhere, but it sure did pull it off plot wise, all thanks to creative copying. Excellent acting from the cast, nice cinematography & spot on directing.

The predictability was actually a cog in the wheel of progress, of what would have been a perfect Nollywood flick.

With flicks like this, there's really hope for our industry.

It had ritual narrative? i thought we had gone past that in the industry. That's like going back to the Stone ages. It's been donkey years i saw the first movie, I'd probably see it before this new one.

My Wife & I(2017)-8/10
Quite enjoyed this..
Helped by the two leads Ramsey and Omoni Oboli... The chemistry between them two was just perfect
This is definitely one of the best nollywood movies I've seen in recent times..

But I've noticed nollywood child actors are mostly terrible... Jeez
Compared to Hollywood where you will see a kid of 4 years who is very smart...
Nollywood really needs to do something about to this....
Surely there are smart kids in Nigeria too
From their facial expressions to their speaking.... Terrible

Good comedic relief...
It's about two guys given a hall pass by their wifes to do whatever they like in a week...

What else if not RITUAL?

How do you expect a sequel to Living In Bondage to be? Romance? Kung-fu?

Did you ever REALLY watch the original?

ritual narrative can still be classified as fantasy so as it's sci fi counterpart in Hollywood

Talk about the positive bro.. the acting was top notch.. the cinematography was also on point.
Atleast it showcased some advanced part of the country unlike those that showcase bushes and swam cinematography.

Hollywood has a system and infrastructure.

The Nollywood kid is most likely the director's child or a producer's nephew.

Hollywood teaches, Nollywood uses.

Hollywood has a pipeline, while Nollywood just kidnaps a good looking kid from their cradle.

End.

I said it's been donkey years i saw the original.

Am not debating the genre here, what am saying is that there are better ways to tell a story. It wasn't really a sequel, the movie was a Trilogy, and if i may ask was that movie really necessary in this time of ours. We need new content in industry, contents that promotes us as a people, content which portray us in the right light not something that has be used & overused or something that showcases us in the dark light.

Seriously we have gone past that, blood ritual for money isn't something we should be doing presently, it's an over-flogged concept already.

Stop the village man sentiment. There is no hope for Nigerian movie industry.

Unless we invest in theatres, film and acting schools and video technology (video editing, graphic design, sound engineering etc)

Nepotism is the order of the day in Nigeria.

Nothing wrong with using a kid if s/he is good, director pikin or not.

But why should you insist on using the director's pikin when s/he is doing badly?

There's no way you can curb vices like piracy and plagiarism.

What Nigeria needs to do is open cinemas all over just like developed countries do, make your money off your movie as soon as it is released and lock up.

Majority of the books and movies we download for free are not free, some of them are in fact very expensive.

Piracy can be reduced by imposing a heavy fine on those who buy and sell pirated products

The life wire of every movie is the concept, & secondly the execution. To some extent, the industry is getting those 2 figured out, that's the hope.
You talk about acting schools, how many of em' popular Hollywood actors went to acting schools? Christian Bale, Jaoquin Phoenix, Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp etc never went to acting school, yet they turned out perfectly.

Yeah, video technology needs to be improved upon.

And as for those clamoring for opening of cinemas, opening cinemas all over the country & feeding these movies to em' is not really advisable, yes it'd curb piracy, but the big question is do we really have the content to showcase in this cinemas? How many folks do you think would go to the cinema to see a ritual orientated movie? A movie were by mere seeing the advert, i already know what happens to kanayo o kanayo, a movie i can predict perfectly. Fellas, we are looking at lots of box office bombs.

The above are not the things we should be bothered with right now. Let's first of all, improve on our concept, concept & execution/delivery, and every other thing would come eventually fall in place.

So, there's hope for the industry if we can work on the above.

Bro the last 9ja movie I saw at the cinema had me in tears because of my wasted funds....Netflix is here so there is a wider global reach now, so the producers should take a leap and do something good... I am not even calling for CGI and VFX....indie movies without VFX but with proper story line and top notch acting dey always bang.

Exactly what i said, the movie wasn't really necessary. Was it a sequel? I thought this one was meant to be part 3 as Parts 1 & 2 were released in 92 & 93 respectively.
