GDP definition and how it applies is what can be found in economics, yes and statistics as well.
If you need an explanation on how gdp data was calcated, a statician can do that well, and hence. Economist should have statistics knowledge to blend it with economic staffs
You should know that a GDP is a key measure within a wider framework of economic statistics which is often simply referred to as national accounts.
