nihilistjnr: No they weren't. The cop worked there for 17 years and was known to be overly aggressive with black customers. George Floyd had recently joined the same company but they never worked the same shift together. |

Ibime: The owner of the club said that they worked overlapping shifts, and while their paths would have crossed, though they may not know each other . "I wouldn't characterize them as knowing each other," Santamaria told CNN's Josh Campbell in an interview. "We did all work together at the club at different points of time, certainly on Tuesday nights on and off. We were all working on the same team." https://edition.cnn.com/2020/05/29/us/george-floyd-officer-derek-chauvin-security-club-trnd/index.html I'm going to look up that club now to check how big it is. |

Both Donjazet and Nihilistjnr have good points. It doesn't always have to be one or the other. Yes! living in a place where there is racism doesn't mean you know it on a global level just like experiencing it isn't the same as reading about it. I think this is the kind of argument that would go on and on till one party gets tired 8 Likes |

seankafor: Until, you get to live in Borno state, you won't know a large part of it is still peaceful. But online, you're most likely not to hear anything good about it My point is? There's a point when you have to listen to experience and evaluate your opinions again, instead of holding fast to what you read online All what we read online are mostly people's opinions too. Do you know that? 2 Likes |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by nihilistjnr: 10:18am On May 30, 2020 |
Ibime: Yeah but that's a speculative angle. The fact seems to be that they worked together at the same bar, and even alongside each other on occasion. I'm now speculating if there's more to this story. You know bouncers are the ones who control the flow of drugs into the clubs...I'm now wondering if there is a training day type scenario happening here. Because quite frankly, the club doesn't look like its that big where you will cross paths more than once and won't remember |

izzou:lol.. talking of borno Who doesn't know the peaceful areas in parts of borno? I even know and learnt they enjoy at least 23 hrs power supply everyday ( I mean their capital city) The insurgency ridden part is mainly in their outskirts and around lake Chad side.. and moreso borno has a landmass greater than whole south east combined.. so it's pretty damn big the size of belgium.lol I sleep on the internet everyday bro.. nothing hardly goes around the world that I don't have any knowledge about..unless am not interested in it. I can categorically tell you things about that borno even you wey dey stay there sef go shock because maybe you never had a knowledge of. Oga gone are the days when folks go dey intimidate us with all those abroad yearns.. izzou: Donjazet is actually arguing that the knowledge of race relations he gained from browsing the internet in Nigeria is superior to the life experiences of those people who have to deal with other races daily. That's the bit that really bust my head donjazet: donjazet: It's not even like he's trying to provide a different perspective. It's him saying the people who live this life dont understand it...but he does 6 Likes 2 Shares |

seankafor: I am currently in Festac Town Kindly browse through the internet and tell me what happened Full House bar, 6th Avenue Lagos yesterday. The internet knows it all, but it, most times never beats experience. Always know when to chill when you have no experience over something. That's wisdom, to me 5 Likes |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by Ibime(m): 10:34am On May 30, 2020 |
Godx: Is this a Black Lives Matter or a gun control/ no uniform policy matter. We both know even from watching the Wire that if cops go into a property and gunfire comes back, it's anything goes when shots start letting off. Anything moving is likely to get hit. I keep saying that there is a big grey area between 2nd amendment rights and Black Lives Matter. If we focus on repealing 2nd amendment, Black Lives will start to matter. Any situation where 2 people are armed will often escalate, add in the fact that some police harbour prejudice (whether you agree with it or not) then what should be a simple situation will turn into a Police brutality situation. Take the case A40 brought up. The guy came to his door with a gun after calling the Police to a possible burglary. He saw the Police car pull up and still came to meet Police with a gun in his hand, then dropped the gun a few metres away. Is it racism for the Police to ask him to neutralise himself before carrying any conversation? No. Because that Policeman will get called to 100 such incidents in a year. He only needs to take one of them at face value to lose his life. The Police job in such a situation when both he and a civilian are armed is to give orders for the civilian to stand down and neutralise themselves. I understand given our history with racism, it will be difficult for a black man to hear such orders from a white man without taking it a certain way, but as far as I'm concerned, it is the Cop who gives orders in such a situation not the other way around, and regardless of the skin colour. It's not everything we must scream racism at. Let's deal with the real matters like this George Floyd case. 3 Likes |

Ibime: The whole thing is a bust head. You're right about his history though. In fact, it looks like he(and other cops) was historically being shielded from any prosecution by the former county attorney |

izzou:lol, it's just like you telling me to use the internet and tell you what you re wearing or eating right now. It doesn't work that way..lol, what am trying to say, in matters of global happenings, any one can have first hand knowledge of what is happening irrespective of the person's location.. And as for festac, do you want to bet I can tell you things in that festac you have little or no knowledge about..lol What am against mainly is people saying because they live in a certain place, no one can tell them shiit about that area.. it sounds so extreme and radical 6 Likes |

Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by nihilistjnr: 10:47am On May 30, 2020 |
Melvyn11: Nonsense. As a black person in Western society, your entire life is an exercise in race relations. It's the height of ediocy to sit in Nigeria and claim to know more about race relations, than the people who wake up, enter public transport with different races, buy stuff from different races at the shops, work alongside different races at their place of employment, and maybe even go back home to a non-black partner. 6 Likes |

Melvyn11: Politics is an issue of interest. What we experience is governance. So yes, if I don't have any interest in politics, it's possible someone abroad can be more knowledgeable But can someone abroad know the state of our epileptic power situation than a Nigerian? Or mad traffic, Bad roads, One chance, Gbomo-gbomo, SARS.....? Racism is experienced, whether you have an interest in it or not 8 Likes |

seankafor: An event happened that was experienced. I asked you to tell me because you said the internet can reveal a lot. And yes, you can tell me about Festac that I won't know. But if I have repeatedly experienced it, there's nothing you'll read online that will overrule the experience Simple example: You can read online on how to control a car on speed when the brakes are lost. Until you drive a car, you won't know that you have less than 5 seconds to practice all what you read or kill yourself, kill others or damage properties Do you understand my point now?. 8 Likes |

nihilistjnr: What sort of rubbish is this? Did you even read and understand the posts I made towards the issue here or is your brain to daft to absorb information? While most of you were just talking about racism and you personally were trying to diminish it's scourge on society, I provided both the historical context and the global scale of the problem in my posts below. donjazet: donjazet: I also gave a better solution than yours because your narrow mind limited racism as a regional issue rather than a global one. donjazet: So you can see how you are spewing garbage when you say I didn't present a new perspective on the issue here when infact I did present a more indepth analysis on the issue. My guy go rest joor. 3 Likes |
