Chevron did not layoff any of her staff. What is happening is that the staff that are less productive and possible ill disposed as well as the ones that are due and almost due for retirement were asked to take a CSP which is a retirement package.

It is like fast-tracking their retirement. They are going to enjoy their retirement packages.

That is not sack but a business strategy that a key global business player in the oil and energy sector needs to adopt in order to still maintain her competitiveness in the industry.

No need to pity them. They have had good times. Only the wise amongst them would thank God, rather than complain, given what they must have invested their salary in, while on duty. Only the lavish ones who were changing SUVs every 3 years would be badly affected. No condition is permanent.

The amount paid is equivalent to the number of years put in. Someone that has put in 5 years may get something in millions but not up to what you're thinking. Some companies calculate the severance package as between 1-3 month basic pay for every year put in.
