What is so funy - you run to showcase South Africa hotel chains - like Kenya was your Nigerian backwater. We have hotel chains of our own that have invested all over.

Infact for Serena hotel - Add DRC Congo - Goma. Goma Serena Hotel is uniquely positioned in the capital of Northern Kivu, next to one of Africa’s Great Lakes – Lake Kivu. Our hotel is easily accessible from Goma International Airport, which is a 10-minute drive away.

Said who - we have been East Africa's biggest foreign investor for 30yrs outside of the likes of UK/China/India. For one South Africa company in TZ or Uganda or Rwanda - we have 10.

And we are routing South Africa companies - and now you'll find kenya firms investing as further down as Mozambique and Zimbabwe.

Basically SA has more influence in east africa thanthan kenya lol

Vodacom is partially owned by British Vodafone - which did a share swap in Safaricom - where it owns 34%. That 34% was Vodafone stake.

Cheap is relative. In Switzerland - everything is expensive - but people's incomes are high. A bus driver earns 10,000 dollars a month.

So don't compare Kenya with Nigeria - without factoring incomes. Kenya private in the army earns more than a Nigerian major.

Now I am not sure where you studied economics - but small inflation is good - but double-digit inflation is very bad - and zero inflation is also bad.

It's not some conspiracy that Nigerian are getting poorer and poorer..while Kenya is lifting 10M people out of poverty annually or 1M every year.

Kenya inflation is great.

Inflation rate compared to previous year
2020* 5.1%
2019 5.2%
2018 4.69%
2017 7.99%

Inflation rate for Nigeria - 13% annually - manufacturing poverty at an industrial scale.
2021* 12.37%
2020* 13.39%
2019* 11.4%
2018 12.09%

A major in Naij gets 300 k naira at 4 naira per kshs is 75000 kshs, a third of his KDF counterpart . A KDF sergeant earns that in 3 years.

Vodafone (British) owns 65% of Vodacom. Vodafone use to own 34% in Safaricom and they did a share swap with their subsidiary Vodacom. Vodacom is for all-purpose and internet a British company. MTN is South African.

Vodafone owns 65% of Vodacom. Vodacom for all intents is a British company. Vodafone/Vodacom own 34% of Safaricom - minority shareholder. That is why Chairman and CEO of Safaricom are Kenyans.

You need to remember cost of living is higher in Kenya than Nigeria, hence why people are starving and living in slums.
The high cost of living makes nonsense of the pay your people get. That's if they get any pay at all. Compare your unemployment rate with Nigeria's:

Kenya's unemployment rate

Kenya' is busy manufacturing poverty, starvation and slums.

Genius, how many times have we mentioned Yemi Kale!? Srsly!

Where is the data? Mauritius the money laundering hotspot yes - could technically be - but in reality - you'd find many of those companies are Kenyan or even South African.

As for Nigeria - Outside banking and Dangote - there is nothing there.

Talking of Kenya- Old Mutual has been here for quite some time, and like Multi-choice has excelled. SAA is now dead and out. KQ has outlived it. Stanbic is South Africa and they merged with Kenya's CFC....and they are small players.South Africa retailers have come and gone. I don't know how long Shoprite and Game will survive but not for long. I think there still one or two Woolsworth stoes.

Kenya is most difficult market for South Africa companies - only those that came early like 1990s - likes of Old Mutual have survived. These were Boer companies that Kenya allowed to operate.

But if you go to Tanzania and Uganda - South Africa basically run the show. Stanbic bank is biggest bank in Tanzania and Uganda - and so are South Africa companies like MTN. This is true for nearly other countries including Nigeria and Ghana. South Africa's firms just basically replaced British MNCs...but not Kenya.

Lol which SAA? This one?

"South African Airways (SAA) is currently retaining its domestic schedule, as published between Johannesburg and Cape Town, with effect from mid-June 2020. Accordingly, SAA is focusing on ensuring operational readiness to resume flights once permissible."

Listen to SAA under-taker. SAA is down and possibly out - unless there is some rescue plan.

The business rescue practitioners for South African Airways (SAA) on Wednesday rejected an “unvetted” statement released by the state-owned airline indicating plans to resume domestic flights from mid-June.

Which companies in SA?

Tbh, your markets have a de facto bullet proof protectionist policy instituted by your real rulers. This is why no real indigenous Black financial service platform will be allowed.
IIRC in the late 90s Castle breweries started up HERE in Thika. Then KBL wanted a reciprocal arrangement to commence operations down South. I don't have all the details but they were effectively blocked.

I keep telling you the biggest and richest -are not listed. There are people who know how to hide their wealth. The wealth of Jewsih cabal post 1945 is not something they go on display. Only those who need to pump and dump - shares- will go on advertising themselves like the Trumps or the South African American Elon Musk.

Real wealthy people are in the background. Jews, some Gujarati families of India (jews of India), and some Chinese families have real wealth in their families you'll never get to hear about. Their wealth is many generations long.

The comcraft group just open businesses and move on - they don't go on branding them -or doing IPOS - this is family business that will be passed to next generations - without drama. They don't need to go on a publicity drive - they rarely borrow - they rarely need that PR anyway.

This! Some of those SEA CHINESE fams especially in Singapore, the Phils ' and Indonesia have accumulated wealth ABOVE AND BEYOND THE RESPECTIVE GDP.

These are just a handful. Those who chose the limelight.
According to a 2019 list by Forbes, the 50 wealthiest people in the country have a combined net worth of $130 billion. These rich Singaporean residents come from an incredibly diverse range of backgrounds, perhaps highlighted by the Brazilian Eduardo Saverin.1
