It's appalling when as a people we can't research on things before commenting, in as much as Dstv can still improve their services. But the tariff increase is as a increment of VAT from 5% to 7.5%. The new VAT rate was signed since February and Dstv is just implementing it which means they can't sustain sustain taking the burden of the increment on their own. I work in the Telecommunications sector and this increment was implemented since 1st of February. Instead of attacking Dstv direct your anger to the Federal Government. 18 Likes 1 Share |

flokii: HeadShot: South Africa does not have 'pay as you go', they have a packages system (same as Nigeria) Infact, South Africa has the same level of packages system as does Nigeria, with their Premium package costing R800 (N17,662 in naira), Compact Plus R519 (11,484 naira) and Compact R399 (8,093 naira)..and as you can see it costs more than Nigeria's own Kenya too has a packages system. 160+ CHANNELS costs 26,787 naira over there. Their cheapest rate costs 3,280 naira only for 110 plus channels. As for 'sane climes' , UK 's Sky offers their ultimate package at 25 pounds monthly for the first 18 months. (12,000 naira approx) I doubt any country in Africa or abroad offers pay as you go for regular customers...(Kwese TV offers pay as you go apparently) You can switch to MyTv (N1450 for 3 months ), Startimes (N2000 , plus you would save more money), or stick with good old NTA, or any other local provider. (Or Netflix, if yer internet is powerful0 16 Likes 3 Shares |

The premium I subscribed in April sef, I am not sure I watched it for more than 7days if I'm to combine the numbers of hours. I hope Nigerian Government will be fair to the masses and cut down the wings of these dstv people. I don't blame them though, if only there are other serious competitors. I remember there was ABG communications back then, I don't know what happened to them. 2 Likes |

Re: Nigerians Groan, Protest DSTV/GOTV Tariff Increase by pippimp(m): 7:05am On May 31, 2020 |
flokii: Because NCC is the problem. Plus, as long as Nigerians are willing to pay, then they will keep jacking up prices. I cut the cable thing a long time ago and never looked back. I went from 250 bucks a month to just 30 now and still watch the same shows and much more when i switched to streaming. Netflix, Amazon Prime/fire stick, and CBS all access. Streaming is the future but NCC will never let that happen. 1 Like |

flokii: This only shows that there's hunger in the land. All these arguments ontop not more than #500 increment. Don't quote me without agreeing that there's poverty in the land. My own opinion is that electricity is not available. Why subscribe when theres no electricity to watch it. 2 Likes |

juvewalex:Don't mind them. The best they can do is create a hashtag to protest their grievance. Meanwhile these guys have offices they can peacefully go to and protest or mobilise themselves and demand a meeting with NCC or something. 2 Likes |

Re: Nigerians Groan, Protest DSTV/GOTV Tariff Increase by ContractKiller: 7:16am On May 31, 2020 |
I actually don't know of anywhere in the world where pay as you go is used as a subscription model. I think Nigerians are simply being unreasonable to expect something that works for making phone calls to work for cable TV, while ignoring the fact that DSTV and other cable TV service providers actually have to pay royalties and broadcasting rights to content producers, unlike mobile phone companies who don't have such economic burdens. I dumped their ass about 12 months ago. they don call me taya. I paid premium for 2years, no discount no value. I watch on premier league and UCL, they got no movies, no good shows , except the cooking which is better on youtube. So, I simply subbed for the footie online. I did: 24k for a full season. kapish... I got no chill for crap. 4 Likes |
