The IPPIS doesn't have any package for payment of allowances to lecturers. Therefore, It's only the basic salaries they now earn. So how does federal government expect them to call off the strike and diligently work when they are forcefully enrolled into IPPIS and striping them of some allowances that make their salaries tangible.

BEFORE YOU CRITICISE THE LECTURERS TAKE A LOOK AT THIS;

Take home salary for lecturers after IPPIS deduction without allowances:
PhD LII is #130,000
PhD LI is #163,000 plus min. 3 years post PhD
Senior Lecturer #235,000 plus min. 6years post PhD
Professor ‍ #345,000 plus min. 10 years post PhD
Senior Professor ‍ #423,000....
Minimum of 3years gap with hard work. Many spend as high as 5years before they can move up the ladder of promotions.

REMEMBER
From these peanuts of a pay;
They teach a crowd for a class
They supervise multitudes
They attend conferences from their pockets
They attend seminars from this peanuts
They write and publish articles in reputable journals (enquire the cost of publishing).....etc
They undergo rigorous stress to carry out research.
They spend minimum of 4 years in BSc
They spend minimum of 2 years in MSc
They spend minimum of 3 years in PhD (in Nigeria is near impossible they even spend upto 5 years and above).

Consider their rigours, the pain, the emotional trauma, physical drain, brain drain, intellectual drain they go through just to be qualified for their job specification...

I think our Lecturers work like elephants and earn like ants, they deserve a better pay or renumeration.

In terms of welfare:
You know that 50% of your lecturers don't have good offices/furnitures.
Most lecturers lack good working environment.
Most lecturers handle/teach a crowd of students yet they still try to deliver lectures in such environment (instead of the normal 30-50 students class size).
Most Lecturers supervise projects at their expense.
You want his best yet you deny him the best.

When you compare this salary with those of other Federal Govt agencies it's very very ridiculous.
If you compare it with Universities abroad then Nigeria salary scale for lecturers is infinitesimally small.

Before you criticise them;
First put yourself in their shoes.
Could you have studied to PhD just to earn #130,000?
Could you have invested the better part of your life upto Prof just to earn #345,000?
Think! They may not have been the best they should yet they are among the best in the world especially if they are giving the right environment to practice.

Before you criticise ASUU/Lecturers think.
Except you are happy with the state of the university system.

NO COUNTRY CAN GROW BEYOND IT'S VALUE FOR EDUCATION.

Let them resign, bunch of fraudsters. Is it by force? Over half of the Lecturers in federal schools are lazy vampires, looking for poor students to prey on.

So FG should now pay them for the time they spent earning their degrees? Are you okay?

Isn't it same lecturers that cause the bottlenecks in schools, making it difficult to graduate?

Let them resign younger jobless guys are waiting to take their jobs.

I totally disagree with your copied and reviewed opinion

I think ASUU should be concerned about correcting any genuine irregularities in salaries arising from adoption of the IPPIS platform. I know some civil servants who initially had their salaries slashed by the system but have been fully paid all the shortages.

This strike was uncalled for!
Is it wrong for all political office holders to be drafted to ippis platform?
What is good for the geese should also be good for the gander

I beg to differ to your lengthy piece. If IPPIS doesn't capture the allowances or any details, ASUU should tell the FG, and the software will be worked on to capture those requirements.

Attempt to whip up sentiments by telling us what lecturers earn won't work; that should be a separate issue that ASUU should address with the FG, it doesn't justify not enrolling to IPPIS. Your piece did not factor in tax that lecturers have shortchanged the State govt overtime. Will the lecturers accept to pay these money back or the FG will still have to pay on their behalf?

In another news, what has been the major impact of these universities in the fight against covid-19? Any notable research??
Is it from their pocket you expect them to cough out money for ground breaking research? For those that have written proposals for grant in order to bring out meaningful findings to bring an end to COVID, has the government or any appropriate quarters read or considered their proposals let alone funding? The government is waiting for the whites to develop vaccines & drugs, so let us all wait instead of blaming them.

What better way to reward the hard working lecturers? Is it by them defrauding the system through taxes evasion, diverting allowances and stealing the financial entitlement of Junior less privileged staff? There is lawful provision that caters for all allowances in every govt sector in Nigeria!
Now let my tell you guys something. I am a FG employee. We just got enrolled in the IPPIS in 2018. What I observed are these:
1. Our basic salary remains the same as former.
2. our allowances were increased by more than 300%.
What happened is that my service had stealing almost all our allowances and little part of the basic salaries, and paying us meagre. Now IPPIS pays the basic salary while they allow the service to pay us our allowances under their (IPPIS) watchful eye. Don't even think am a casual worker. Am a quit senior staff!
Financial rascality and flabouyancy amongst our very senior staff has been drastically curtailed. NO OSHO FREE MONEY AGAIN!
Back to ASUU;You are next!!!

Clearly you know nothing about software development

Is it ASUU that is supposed to be funding and developing payroll software ?

You are ignorant because ASUU has already assured FG it has developed an alternative software but has failed to present it so far. There is nothing wrong if ASUU develops, FG buys it and improves its functionality, architecture and security. ASUU makes money, meets a need and our university education becomes better. Do you have problem with that?

Haven't you read the different press releases by ASUP, COEASU, NASU, NAAT, and SSANU... they have complained ceaslessly about the Fraudulent tax on their gross pay. What did the OAGF do... Excuses. All the grants that they have collected in the past, of what use?. We all know majority of them use grant to enrich themselves, and sleeping with students. Most of them got their professorship through "man-no-man". Even the so-called research papers are mostly given out as projects to their students while they claim to author them. We all know how they roll.

IPPIS is a mess sonce its introduction to the university 4 months. The short payment the past 4 months is really annoying. thank God NAAT has reconsidered its position and embark on strike. The four unions in the university should embark on indefinitie strike, until IPPIS is scrapped from the university.

Is it wrong for all political office holders to be drafted to ippis platform?
What is good for the geese should also be good for the gander
I rest my case
Then ASUU members should resign from their lecturing jobs and join politics since they want to be in the same boat as politicians

BEFORE YOU CRITICISE THE LECTURERS TAKE A LOOK AT THIS;

REMEMBER
From these peanuts of a pay;

Before you criticise them;
First put yourself in their shoes.

You must be ASUU member..
How can you compare d salary of Nigeria lecturer with d lecturers abroad?? Are u daftttt??
The lecturers abroad do manufacture products thru their research but none in Nig.

And which of d sector of Nigeria receives good salary to start with..??
You better be careful because there are alot of graduate (BSc, MSc, PhD) looking for job outside..
Everybody shld respect themselves and allow naija to waka front..

This is a Terrible mindset...No wonder the politicians don't give two fvcks about the masses cos they have enablers like you cheering them on..

In Uganda, the salary of an Assistant lecturer is N500K+, greater than that of a Prof. at his highest step.. Isn't that a big shame....?

What will folks like you say... If you don't like it, port to Uganda, we have yoots looking for jobs.

No wonder the same politicians were bold to tell us that dissatisfied doctors can take to farming, and that we had more than enough medical practitioners to export to other countries ... But the current pandemic has shown us that we as a people are generally stupid...

Who are responsible for training the doctors...? Yeah... Same ASUU members...

What happens when there is a massive brain drain? Your guess is as good as mine..

Let us continue cutting our nose to spite pir faces... We go learn bitter lessons...

Says who?
Brother! i understand everything about ippis

I dey among those people way carry out the enrollment of tertiary institutions staff into ippis[ Uniben to be precise]
Every thing way ippis dey deduct from Tertiary institutions salary are legit. Everything dey law

National housing scheme
The right tax( before they were not paying the appropriate tax]
No university is entitled to peculiar allowance
Concerning other allowance
Tertiary institutions should meet with salary and wages commission to formalise any agreement
They are the body responsible for that not ippis
So ASUU, Nasu, ssanu and naat should stop crying and dirsturbing ippis
For those federal tertiary staff expecting salary. Don't worry your salary is gonna be paid between now and next tomorrow
After polytechnic before colleges of education then universities

Get your facts right, you don't deduct tax from gross pay it's from net pay. Mind you lecturers don't prepare payment schedule, its the sole responsibility of non academic staffs.
Am sure you are not crying because you among those working for ippis including names of dead people.

When two elephants fight, the grasses suffer.

It's high time both the government and ASUU put a stop to all this blame game in the interest of the development of our educational system.

Check my signature, it may help you in a great way.
