A gospel that doesn't make a sinner see the joy of salvation but rather the fear of hell isn't the gospel of Christ.

Even Jesus Christ motivated the people by telling them to fear the one who could destroy their body and their Soul, God! grin
Do not now underestimate the power of fear as a motivator. wink

A thing will not become true simply because you wish it to be. And a matter is not established by many repetitions!

Absolutely Sir! smiley

Understand the context in which that statement was made instead of quoting the passage out of context

Is Jesus Christ's use of fear in spreading the gospel not useful in this case? undecided undecided undecided

See why I said you should read in context.

In the preceeding verses before the one you quoted from (Matt 10:28), Jesus was telling his disciples to preach to the unbelievers. He made them to know that they'll be persecuted. And he admonished them not to be scared of their persecutors because they (the persecutors) can only destroy the body but not the soul. That passage was not to scare them (his disciples) of hell but to motivate them in preaching the gospel...

Next time when you read and passage, try reading the preceeding and suceeding passages around that particular passage so you'd know what the writer mean.. In bible reading, context is king.

He instead called them to have a greater fear of God who was able to destroy the body AND the soul! That is what Jesus' message was. undecided
