False.
Students pay income tax. Once you earn more than allowable personal income. Any extra shishi is taxed.

You got the refund either because you did not earn above the personal income allowance, or they made a mistake. I strongly believe it’s the former.

Again, students pay income tax.
There is NO WAY a student who earns or earned £21,000 per annum not pay tax. NO WAY.
You are making unfounded assumptions.
You have no idea how much I was earning then to be able to sponsor myself, so stick to facts you know.

Are you saying you worked more than the allocated 20hours to sponsor yourself? That’s prolly the only way you would have earned more than the tax code.

Na question I ask o, I come in peace smiley

Your employer is right ....I was reading something yesterday not related to you but about payrolling a new employee and it caught my eyes as there a line stating you payroll a student just as you do any other employee. Meaning it will be taken and any refund if at all will have to be done by HMRC.

Let me see if I can find the link
Thanks sis. I wish they are the one owning me this amount sent for me to pay back.. All will be sorted soon and I will update you. Thanks for your help

Yes only HMRC will sort it out, even your university will not be able to help.

This is not your fault though, someone somewhere made a mistake, when you call them ask them how you can avoid this in future.
Yes. Definitely. I will soon update you on the outcome. Thanks

So it’s possible to use Only 20 hours of work on the UK on a tier 4 visa and pay school fees, pay house rent and all bills.

I wish Justwise would be kind enough to show us the way on this thread, especially the kind of job he got which was paying that much. It will help a lot of people here.

NO. Justwise only worked 20hours. The job was one of those few that pays handsomely.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Skymoore1004: 11:29am On Jun 02, 2020
Must have been paying 30 quid or more per hour to sponsor himself then

Thanks

These are all I have been able to find out

1. School fees

2. Maintenance fee = 9200 Gbp

3. Visa fee = 346 Gbp

4 Tb test fee = $150

5. Flight ticket

These are all I know

Is there any other expense one needs to plan for?

BouharryArtikou:

You should first of all itemise all the expenses you have made so far. Put the item. Then put the amount.
Then if you miss out on any, people can help.

The ball is in your court. You start.

Relax ooo. cheesy . Some jobs even at 20 hours do pay enough, although rare but possible depending on what line.... also depending on what program

If someone went from BSC to MSC to PHD tracks straight , then it highly unlikely that everything will come from Nigeria

I believe if one also works online as a freelancer e.g transcribing, data jobs, content scheduling etc it can add up to one's income unless the UK government has a way of tracking online work.

Well maybe he didn’t sponsor himself like tuition and living expenses combined. He didn’t disclose that information but I totally get your point too. Everyone got a story to tell [/quote]

Let’s call a spade a spade please.
Which job will pay you “enough” @ 20 hours a week to sponsor yourself completely? Except like I said above, he only sponsored his living expenses from the earnings & not his tuition balance. Or except that job paid x3 of minimum wage in his era. Assuming that he studied years ago when naira was like N200 =£1 , it can be understandable that he paid his tuition before leaving Nigeria & was relying on the 20 hours work for expenses.

No one knows for sure what he meant.
So we can only “assume”

Well this breaches the condition of the visa in terms of self employment.

IHS fee is currently £150 per year (adult).
However, the government proposed to increase it to £620 per year (adult) in October. I don’t know if this has been actualised.

You missed out IHS cost of £450 for 1 year courses (300 for each year of your course and 150 for the extra time granted after your course ends).
It will go up to £470 (Tier 4 and Tier 5 applications) and £624 (for other adult categories) in October 2020.

1. I know nothing about the treaty but i got my money back a Nigerian student.

Both..for me to earn enough to pay my fees, rent, bills and feeding i must have earned above personal allowance.

Justwise earned enough in 20 hours per week to:
PAY HIS FEES
PAY RENT
PAY BILLS
FEEDING

What this means is that it is possible?

I am pleading with Oga justwise to help show us the way. Please Justwise, SOS.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by faks10: 12:52pm On Jun 02, 2020
a simple calculation will solve this.
moreover, you don't have to always base Ur calculation on the minimum wage. its called minimum wage because you shouldn't earn below that, not that you can't earn way above that.
with this premise, you can definitely earn above the threshold of 12500 without breaking the rules.
note that the 20 hours is only during academic session,
so do your maths using as low as 10 pounds per hour.
for approximately 8 months lecture
10 * 20 = 200 (per week)
200 * 35 weeks = 7,000
now imagine working full time for about 4months
thats 10 * 55 = 550/week
then 550 * 17 = 9,350

7000 + 9350 = 16,350
correct me if am wrong.

Hello house,
Pls kindly assist me with this question.
I appealed my uk visa recently before the whole pandemic thing, after which I received a message saying my appeal has been approved. I was told the home office also has the right to appeal the judges decision.
It's been 4 months now and I havent heard anything from both parties.
Pls can the home office still appeal??
And what is the time frame in which one gets his visa?

You are not wrong.
You are 100% right.
Most people think the only jobs available for students are care jobs and security and retail and hospitality.
I’m sure there are some very cool jobs that pays ‘arm robber’ wages (the term ‘arm robber wages was a joke we used to describe NNPc and CBN employees back then when I worked in the bank).

That is why I am pleading with Justwise to help brothers and sisters and give some hints on how to grab those type of jobs.

With the coming of Kovik-1-9, no one can answer your question here.
Your best bet is to contact the relevant authorities.

I’m not sure why I find your recent comments “sarcastic”. More like you’re doubting the possibility of earning enough @20 hours a week, but also trying to find out if there’s a secret “key” to earning that possibility.

You remind me of a story for a goblin grin

Let’s say is even “possible”, but that probably worked for him. It may not work for others.

Nobody, I repeat nobody should ever believe that you can study and work in the U.K. to pay off your tuition & living expenses, yet still live the “abroad luxury” people always imagine.

90% of the time, you are forced to breach your 20 hours a week allowance or start a self employed side hustle. Even if you’re earning well, e go still dey pain you to pay off the tuition. If someone ask for you loan, you go think am well before you even give response. U.K. is survival of the fittest. When you reach, you shine your eyes well.

One Nairalander is asking Justwise to tell him the sort of job he did. Why should he? Everyone has their secret to success and do not owe anyone an explanation of how they made it. You that is asking, will you tell someone exactly how you made your success?

Let’s leave this talk abeg
