Reopening: Church Service Must Not Exceed An Hour – FG by Omooba77: 7:52pm On Jun 02, 2020
The Federal Government has said the duration for each church service must not be more than an hour, The PUNCH reports.

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Sani Aliyu, stated this on Tuesday during a briefing in Abuja.

Aliyu while rolling out guidelines for the reopening of worship centres said, “Churches to open from 5am and close by 8pm

“For churches, each service should be for a maximum of an hour with an interval of thirty minutes in between services to allow time for disinfection.”

Similarly, the national coordinator said Friday prayers in mosques should also not exceed one hour.

“Mosques may open 15 minutes before and ten minutes after prayers. The total time for Friday prayers should not exceed an hour.

“Islamiya schools, Sunday schools, night vigils, and children classes are to remain suspended.

“Worshippers should be encouraged to sign up for preferred worship and make the option of virtual service an option.

“There should be no gathering either or after worship and business outlets within the premises should remain closed,” he explained.

Proper jum'ah service never lasts more than an hour any, so the message is mainly for churches.
But rather than rolling out this complicated schedule, why not not let these worship centres still remain under lock?
After all, schools never open.

Whether you condemn it or not,

You must obey your leaders according to what is stated in the Holy Bible ( 1st Peter 2 vs13-17, Titus 3 vs 1-2, Roman's 13 vs 1-2.)

This is just for a while anyways.

It makes a lot of sense actually.

You are not in a position to condemn the directive issued by the government in line with trying to contain the spread of covid-19.

Moreover, it won't be like these forever...

If our bodies are the temple of the Living God, that means we carry to Temple to wherever we deem fit.

Because the foreign leaders that our leaders normally copy ideas from clearly don’t know what they are doing, our leaders have been forced to come up with their own ideas, and this is the result. I don’t like it. *UPDATED*

My statement is a bit of a cheap shot and I may remove it. I’m sure they have their reasons. I think they should come up with rules that reduce the rate of infection very much but are as non-intrusive as they could possibly be.

I am ok with saying people should be spaced out and everybody should wear masks, and limiting the number of people that can attend a service, but I am not ok with dictating how long a church service should be. This goes into the territory of dictating how people should practice their religion, which is unacceptable in a free democratic country. I can imagine how they arrived at the decision, but I don’t like it one bit.

As far as I am concerned, large gatherings of any type, whether religious or recreational, should not be held, period. Numerous outbreaks around the world have been traced to churches and mosques. You have large numbers of people in enclosed spaces, spewing their germs into the air as they shout and sing, all over the country. Even if they have masks, they will probably remove them when they start sweating during praise worship.

The era of services with thousands of people in large auditoriums is over until we achieve herd immunity through vaccination. Churches should reorganize themselves as house fellowships with maybe 20 to 50 members in each branch so that if one member is found to be infected with COVID-19, it will be easy to test the others.

I will update this post after educating myself further about the PTF’s new rules.
